Portal 2 Delayed To April 20

Oh come on, is anyone really surprised here? It'll be brilliant whenever it arrives. Still, this does put it dangerously close to The Witcher 2. If it slips a couple more weeks there could be trouble!!

Oh, come on. Over the years there have been a handful of references to the game, however slight. It's being worked on.

Probably with a small team. Most of the people are working on Portal and DotA 2 and then you have TF2 updates, L4D updates and future DLC, and Steam work.

We arent gonna see HL3 for a long time, people should stop whining about it in every Valve thread.

Why do they even bother to announce a date. Give us a break, Valve. You know you are a joke when it comes to schedule.

That's fine by me. Q1 is crowded already, and I doubt I'll enter 2011 with anywhere near a clean backlog. I've never had this many anticipated games on the shelf in shrink-wrapping in my life!

Yeah, Valve Time.

At least I get to save more money up though.

Sure. I imagine once Portal 2 a sizeable chunk of the team will move on to Episode Three (or whatever Valve are going to work on next. :lol)

This.

Goddamn, I don't think I'll be able to afford this along with a 3DS and Ocarina of Time, and another launch game. Hm.

I'll see.

I'm gonna say it.

I'm more excited about Portal 2 than a possible Episode 3.

I like Half Life, but Portal 2 is fresher and it's a full game. Half Life 2 Episode 3 will just be an expansion pack that we waited 4 years to play.

To Valve fans, this isn't news. It simple is.

I think Valve should just quickly mention at E3 or something that they are actually developing a full-on Half Life 3 rather than just an episode.

That's the most likely situation. And so it will be a very long wait, it will also cut down on the people crying for Episode 3 every time Valve announces something. Didn't they officially acknowledge that their episodic 'experiment' was a failure?

Gabe Newell at E3 2011:

'HL Episode 3 is cancelled'

Gabe:

'Instead, we're doing Half Life 3'

Wrong. EP3 is going to be epic. Whatever EP3 is now...

I'm sure Episode 3 will be incredible but, for me at least, Portal 2 is a bigger deal plus it's actually coming out in the near future so I'll just put all my eggs in that basket for now.

I dont give a shit if its delayed, so long as its as good as or better than the first one. Valve more than any dev have earned the right to delay games as far as I am concerned.

The wait will give me time to chew through all the awesome games coming up shortly, and ideally allow for multiple play throughs of Deus Ex if that ends up being the bees' knees.

1. The press release is laugh out loud worthy. Kudos, Valve.
2. They can take however long they want if they keep delivering products at the quality level they have been.
3. Delayed to the week of my birthday, so there's something to look forward to again!

Vavle may make great games but they really fucking suck at management.

I don't know man, they have the most polish games of the industry at launch and the best after release following of all their games. Just look at how the patch everyday their games.

They've never formally announced Episode 3, did they? We don't really know if it's a real product they're working on.

They could be working on Half Life 3 for all we know.

Episode Three was announced alongside Episode Two.

I wouldn't be surprised if Ep3 hadn't been in anything resembling full-development until well after L4D2 was released, but who knows, it's Valve.
