Portal 2 or Rayman Origins?

Rayman Origins easily.

This.

I can't understand what kind of blatant ignorance is going on in this thread.

The demo for Rayman was not the best indicator of the heights the title can reach, even so, the first three introductory levels of the demo allow for more playability, graft and challenge than all of Portal 2 combined.

Some of the levels of Rayman Origins smoke Portal its not even close.

Both games have Co-op, but only one of those games will you keep going back to the levels and aiming for perfection. Only one of those games will constantly blow your mind on the creativity and level design.

Portal 2 is not a bad game, but when compared to Rayman only a fool would tell someone to waste their money and very ( short ) time on Portal 2.

but to be honest, the Alvin and the Chipmunks doo-de-doo-de-da type music id hear at times really turned me off. Is there alot of that in the full game?

DUDE WHAT?

Get Portal 2 then because the music is that good throughout. Or you could, just listen to the soundtrack on youtube.

Rayman Origins by far.

Great art, gameplay, challenge, music. A lot of variety and content.

It was all that NSMBW was supposed to be, but even better.

I don't know, there is something about Portal 2 that just doesn't click with me. The concept isn't even that great, and the execution leaves a lot to be desired. I played the first one and got bored of it within an hour, it was as if I had already played that before.

Portal 2 was one of the best experiences of 2011 without a doubt. If you don't like it you just don't have a sense of humor.

Portal is unlike anything else out there. The production values are amazing for what should be a niche game.

Rayman Origins is a good platformer that's only as good because of the lack of competition the genre has these days. It's not a bad game and it's special because there isn't that much comparable on the market these days.

If it has to be for PS3 then Rayman Origins by a mile. Portal isn't the type of game that you wanna play on a console.

Not sure why you wouldn't want to play it on a console.

If you have at least one person to play with then I would heartily recommend purchasing Rayman. Playing that multiplayer was some of the most fun I've had in a game for ages. It does have difficult parts but I very rarely felt like it was unfair. Portal 2 is a great game but you could rent it for a week and be done with it.

Also, the music in Rayman is outstanding.

Yeah the music in Rayman is really good, it's dynamic too! (Portal 2 has that too though, I think?)

Uh, you can be done with Portal in less than a day...

And yes, the music in Rayman was amazing

Yeah. Portal 2's use of dynamic ambient music is phenomenal. (Not to speak ill of Rayman Origins - I'm waiting on the PC version.)

Yup, that's what I thought! I love dynamic music, they're both implemented REALLY well!

Calling somebody's preference "blatant ignorance" is uncalled for.

Both games are great, I just thought Portal 2 was a much better experience. Unlike Portal 2, nothing in Rayman was truly memorable for me.

There's some really big, annoying offenders of these chipmunk sounds in Ramyan, but it gets much better in the music department anyway. The game in general isn't too special in the first couple of hours (especially if you've played some of the Wii platformers currently), but it gets quite amazing in its latter two thirds. You should get it. (dirt cheap by now)

Uh huh.

Guess we're all just fools then.

Get over yourself, bro. The only one looking like a fool in this thread is you.

Portal 2.

I love Rayman to bits, its my favorite game of last year and I consider it one of the best 2D platformers of all time. But Portal 2 is a game experience thats really only comparable to the first Portal. I love Rayman, but this gen has been particularly kind to 2D Platformers. You've probably already played Super Meat Boy or NSMB Wii or another of this gen's decent 2D plats.

if you play local co-op, rayman origins is the better buy.

if you play single player, portal 2 is the better buy.

You seem needlessly angry like all the time, mate.

Point taken. I was just thinking that if you are only going to buy one then, to me personally, Rayman is going to give you more longevity than Portal 2. I absolutely loved Portal 2 though.

Such a good soundtrack, hearing that music makes me want to go and play through the game again right now.

I dont' really like either that much but I'll recommend just about anything over a 2D platformer nowadays. Portal 2 easily.

Besides it's not like P2 was terrible or anything.

Portal 2 is a good puzzle game with a heavy focus on story, but it's short and if you're used to puzzle games you'll likely find it very easy.

Rayman Origins is a very good platformer with a ton of content and with coop support.

They're very different games so it's all about what you prefer to play. I personally think Rayman Origins is the better choice, but that's just me.

I can't believe the blatant ignorance in the quoted post. Portal 2 hands-down. And I fucking love Rayman.

I think Rayman Origins with friends is more enjoyable than anything in Portal 2.

If you're just playing by yourself Portal 2 is probably the better choice.(I didn't really find portal 2 co-op that enjoyable)

Rayman is so much fun with friends, Portal 2 I have not played to completion but I'm gonna buy it tuesday on Ps3 I think.. does it have local coop?

Yes. You're even able to choose between vertical and horizontal screen splitting.

Edit: Don't forget to update the game so you'll have the Peer Review (co-op) DLC. (I'm assuming it's delivered via an update, a la the PC/Mac version.)
