Portal 2 - The Final Hours now on Steam

Are there any serious Portal 2 spoilers? I won't be playing the game until the first Steam sale.

But I love Geoff Keighley's final hours series, so would love to read this asap.

You can find Portal 2 box copy as low as 25$, how cheap do you need it to be?

It's a Valve game. It'll be cheaper than $25 as a daily deal before we even hit the Xmas sale. I'm patient enough to wait.

Meanwhile, can anyone confirm the spoiler-level of the article?

cheap enough to boast to gaf how foolish everyone else is to buy on day 1
Are you honestly suggesting people (and specifically me) buy products at cheaper prices solely to boast?

It's a Valve game, they are worth every penny?

There are spoilers in the article kinda. Might as well wait for a sale on this too though.

It will be worth every penny I ultimately end up paying for it, yes.

Awesome, thanks! I'll hold off buying this for now.

Is in your library (but without small icon). Just scrolled a bit through b/c I got no time today but looks nice. Got some videos and music as well. It installed Adobe ARI for me and then opened itself like a game fullscreen.

Very intuitive and easy controls... I just can't seem to beat the first level though. It's very hard.

Thank you, Valve, for more things relating to Portal 2. :')

Valve only published it on Steam though, this was done entirely by Geoff.

If it was Valve it would have been free ;P

True, haha. Just anything relating to Portal 2. Can't get enough of everything related to this gaaaame.

Read it on iPad and it's definitely worth the cost. Really great article and all the Gabe quotes people have been pulling from it lately are far less sensationalist when read in context. Worthwhile for anyone who is interested enough in games that they're reading GAF, I think.

Can someone explain what this is? For those of us who have gaming websites blocked at work.

A fairly lengthy article about the process of making Portal 2. This includes a look at some of the key players and their history with the company, how the original Portal came to be, the various directions Portal 2 almost went in, the song writing and scripting process, and a few choice quotes from Gabe about the future of the company.

glad to see it on Steam.. seriously all you guys. read this if you're at all interested in the game or development in general. it's a damn fine article and well worth a couple bucks.

Thank God. I've been dying to read this since I knew it existed. Installing now.

Straight up: Fuck you. You should legitimately feel ashamed of yourself.

Brilliant. Can't believe he didn't think of this before (although hindsight is 20/20, I guess) - the delivery platform and the copy protection is already almost assuredly built right into the audience. Great move. Bought. No regrets.

Maybe Steam should make an eBook program. Probably not enough content to support it, but who knows

I'm sure he did think of it. From the start he said it was going to other systems, including the interactivity. This was clearly in the pipeline, probably from the start.

Would negotiation with Valve have taken that long, given that he had near complete access to them for so long? I dunno. Either way, it's rad as shit.

Insightful look into the team, its history and the journey they took to make Portal 2. You get a glimpse of the creative process at Valve, the prototypes, concept art and what the development process was like for this game. Basically some of the mysteries of Valve Time are laid bare, two dollars well spent.

I need to know this as well. Full price Steam games are a tad too pricey for my not-American-nor-European living standards. And boxed Portal 2 is as expensive as full prince Steam version around here, and is likely to be like that long before it goes on a Steam sale.

Yes. There are. Wait till you beat te game.

Great job Geoff Keighley. You listened to the people who wanted to support this on pc, and Steam is a great way to distribute it.

Will buy as soon as I get a chance.

It'd be wrong of me to suggest I read the PDF that was floating around the net and don't have an iPad. I will say that the article is excellent and I'll be buying this now, thanks to Geoff for bringing it to a platform I own.

This.

It's an awesome read. Must read for Valve and Portal fans. Maybe I buy it a second time.
This is what I don't get.... If they had released this for iPad originally, and then re-released it on PC with additional content I bet people would be grabbing their pitch forks and preparing for blood. Yet there are people out there willingly paying for the SAME THING again. Why would you invest another $2.00 into a fancy .pdf file that you already have bought once?

Sorry for the semi-rant, I am legitimately curious though.

I really enjoyed that. I kinda wish more people were written about, but it was very compelling to read and it was paced very well. Valve-like even.

It's more convenient for me.

Considering I'm not cool enough to own an Ipad.

Isn't that kinda missing the point, since you'd be missing out on all the videos and such?
Yeah... I got the Steam version, and would like the Kindle one as well, but why is it a dollar more for presumably less content? Can anyone clarify this?
