This. Really, tons of Madonna songs from that time:
Cherish
Get Into the Groove
La Isla Bonita
Like a Virgin
Dress You Up in My Love
So many good choices. It would be soooo easy to post something from the 80's UK like New Order or Echo and The Bunnymen or Joe Jackson or any of the many tracks that came out from there.
So, here's something recent:
Destroyer - Kaputt : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puu3IvKnSb4
It's not pop for the radio but it's definitely pop. Well, the guy basically took every overused cheesy stapple of 80's pop and made something incredible.
I came in here to post this. Pretty much anything Third Eye Blind.
The first page has made me horribly aware that I've ignored Hall and Oates for far too long. So damn good. Heading out of town in a few minutes or I'd go through more of the thread. I'll be thinking of my choice all day now.
Pop Goes the World (heheheh)

Good call blame, I love Steal My Sunshine.
I gotta go with Crash by The Primitives.

God damn them first posts.
Well, if you put it like that, sure. But yeah I wouldn't really label that as pop. Far too few people seem to have heard of it.
Incredible song though.
Not to be confused with another perfect pop song: There She Goes by The La's (1988)There She Goes Again by Marshall Crenshaw
Good call blame, I love Steal My Sunshine.
I gotta go with Crash by The Primitives.
