post one perfect pop song in this thread

So many good choices. It would be soooo easy to post something from the 80's UK like New Order or Echo and The Bunnymen or Joe Jackson or any of the many tracks that came out from there.

So, here's something recent:
Destroyer - Kaputt : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puu3IvKnSb4

It's not pop for the radio but it's definitely pop. Well, the guy basically took every overused cheesy stapple of 80's pop and made something incredible.

Well, if you put it like that, sure. But yeah I wouldn't really label that as pop. Far too few people seem to have heard of it.

Incredible song though.

The first page has made me horribly aware that I've ignored Hall and Oates for far too long. So damn good. Heading out of town in a few minutes or I'd go through more of the thread. I'll be thinking of my choice all day now.

Not sure if it gets better for me than Take on Me by A-ha The song and the video are just so timeless and perfect. I did a quick search throughout the thread and was kind of shocked to see it wasn't posted yet. (At least not the links that were named.)

So I'm not approaching this from a "favourite song" point of view, but from whether its just great Pop. To me that means it has to pretty much be throwaway.

Enjoy the Silence - almost a perfect song but I don't consider it Pop since I'm a Depeche Mode snob.

Mr. Jones - Dang near perfect
Crash

I'm also breaking the rules:

Safety Dance

Incredible song though.

But what's the definition of pop music though? It can't be strictly the popularity or the charts because then if it's popular in the UK and not in the US, is it still pop?

My outlook on music really changed the day someone made me realise Stereolab (let's say 97+) is pop music.

But I see where you're coming from.

Janet Jackson - Someone to call my lover

CHVRCHES - The Mother We Share

As for more classical songs, I have to go with Eleanor Rigby or I Want You Back Jackson 5 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3Q80mk7bxE

Could post a whole load more indie-pop sings , just off the top of my head. Indie-pop/folk/electronic are my favorite genres at the moment, so much potential.

Just to broaden this thread a little. Every now and then I go on youtube and listen to various old school dance tracks. I click on the links to the right just to see where it takes me. You can find some real gems that way.

Anyway, something I was listening to. Beautifully ambient.

Future Sound Of London - Papua New Guinea
