Post the size of your ps4 saved data folder

2.97 GB here. I've recently cleaned it up of games I don't play or will restart.

The save sizes for modern games are out of control.

Earth defense Force uses 20mb for what, exactly?

The arcade archives games' save files are thousands of times bigger than the original arcade Roms they are emulating? 10.5mb each!?

Driveclub uses more space than almost any released n64 title at 325 MB?

Mortal Kombat x needs 136mb for ???

Final fantasy 7 needs 10.5 MB to emulate a few 64kb memory cards?

Same for ps2 titles, they require a lot of storage for those old 8mb memory cards..

The worst though is final fantasy 15 with 629.2 MB! That's almost the size of the entire first disc of final fantasy 7!

A lot of games keep it under 5mb or something but I just don't understand how a linear game with few unlocks can have such huge save files. And even open world games like the Witcher should be able to save progress without needing hundreds of MB.

It feels to me like patches these days where developers don't really have to optimize for space, they just take the easiest route and don't worry about storage space.

Came to post the FFXV one. 600+ mb, yikes.

Star Ocean 5 also takes up 304mb. In total save data takes up 7 gigs on my PS4.

It's funny to think I got by with an 8MB Memory Card for the PS2.

The huge saved data files are primarily a PS4 thing. I think Minecraft can be particularly bad depending on how many chunks get loaded into a saved world. Identical games have much smaller save files on Xbox One/PC versions.

10.51 gigs, recently trimmed down. Used to piss me off when saves for shit like Minecraft or LittleBigPlanet 3 seemed to be way bigger than my other games and clog up my PS+ cloud saves, but I gave up tending to that shit.

Can't wait till my PS4 breaks like with my launch PS3's repeated ylod and I lose it all

I want to say 10.5 MB was the lower limit of saves. For a long while it seemed pretty much any game I played was just 10.5 MB. I've recently started seeing some 3.15 MB size save files though so maybe Sony optimized how newer games save?

My save folder is 4.94GB with FFXV being the biggest offender at 629MB.

4.21gb

These are the standouts for me. Besides driveclub and Rocket League due to ghost saves, how the hell are the rest so big. 304mb for Apotheon? HOOOOOOOOOOOOOWW???

driveclub - 325.1mb
apotheon 304.1mb < What is this shit?
shadow warrior 241.2mb
alien isolation 230.7mb
deus ex md 138.5mb
homefront revolution 137.4mb
witcher 3 111.2mb
rocket league - 104.9mb
ether one 98.47mb
soma 83.89mb
super exploding zoo 45mb

This thread is kind of blowing my mind. I don't even play that much on home consoles, and I'm already over 2GB. Are these games just dumping entire objects into their save files, rather than just select values they need to keep, or is this some filesystem encryption stuff that is causing this?

a lot of these games have no right being as big as they are.

The majority of my save files are between 10-20mb, even for games you would expect a large file size, and then you get games which are in the hundreds and you're wondering...why

Yes FF15 takes the shit cake.

I have disabled that game from auto uploading saves to PSN cloud now. Because That save size is beyond disgusting.

My total other wise is under 2GB.

Another suprisingly big one is Rocket League. My RL save is over 100MB.

2.21GB - 38 games.

I wonder why a lot of games automatically have save file >10MB. 10MB for a save files is huge. But some games go way beyond it: Driveclub VR is 325MB, Driveclub is 325MB, Rocket League is 105MB, FFXV is 629MB O_O.

I'd say that Sony is part to blame, looks like something funky is going on with the PS4's OS. For example:

Dead or Alive 5: PS4 21.01MB, XB1 2.1MB
Doom demo: PS4 20.98MB, XB1 192.8KB
Dragon ball Xenoverse 2: PS4 3.15MB, XB1 493KB

driveclub & rocket league are most likely due to the ghost saves / replay saves

ff15 though......................

Large Minecraft world file sizes are big, I mostly play it in Classic mode now the smallest size and I think the world size is still to big

Littlebigplanet 3 can get big sometimes too

7.69 GB of save files. Like others said FF XV is the biggest contributor with over 600MB (on the other hand World of Final Fantasy only needs 3.15MB). But I guess I can delete all those save files from PS+ games that I'll never play again.

Edit: Okay, now it's "only" 5.73GB.

My Mankind Divided folder is also pretty hefty, because it's a game where I tend to have about 10 different save slots I rotate through.
