Post Your Gaming Setup: 2009 Edition

Fistula said:
Ouch. Problem with your obvious jealousy is that I have put together a home recording studio for under $5,000 that will assbang anything that you could put together for $25,000 a few years ago. So if by cliché you mean totally sensible and economical with ridiculously professional results then yes, I am a total piece of crap human.

I do however, appreciate the fact that you are concerned that such nice gear is going to waste, trust me, it is, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

As for being bitter and judgmental... we are in a gaming setup thread, waving e-dicks, no?

To be honest, I don't know enough about recording gear to know whether your stuff is worth being jealous over. And, my response was probably a bit over-the-top but I'm sensitive to condescension and your post was just soaking with it. The fact that I'm fairly drunk right now (in my mom's basement if you must know) probably has something to do with the aggressiveness of it as well. My apologies either way.

The point is though...on the subject of bitterness and being judgmental, there are all sorts of posts in this thread that have me cursing the poster-in-question's good fortune or faculty-for-hard-work or cleverness-with-money or whatever. Thing is, I try to contain these negative thoughts within my own jealous psyche. Not to play thread cop and with all due respect (in the colloquial sense...I don't know that you're necessarily due respect), I would just suggest that you do the same.

Man, gaf makes me feel poorer than I actually am.

But the delta minus males are likely too intimidated by the alpha males' sets, ergo disproportionate lofty sets are posted.

Or maybe I really am behind!

I've never seen anyone shit up a pictures thread :lol

Just leave it alone dude. If you really are that angry start a topic about it in the OT. Everyone is sharing and enjoying each others shit, take the hate elsewhere.

Fistula it's a shame you're so presumptuous and judgemental about what other people have and deserve. You come across as a real jerk.

TL4E, people are only really likely to post in this thread if they have a setup they're proud of, and they have just tidied up! Plenty of people have modest setups that aren't worth showing off.

My setup is incredibly modest, but I plan on posting it as soon as I get my digital camera (the next time I visit home).

If you clean up the area and organize, you'd be amazed how good even a boring setup can look!

Ninjavanish, I love your layout. It's clean and awesome, but the most clean and awesome is the color of the paint covering your walls. My room is exactly like that, and I constantly get comments about how dark it is and that they don't like it. Dunno if you get that or not, though. :P

I don't get complaints about the darker walls. The color is a godsend for rooms, like mine, with ample natural lighting. When the walls were white I had bad TV glare. The dark walls are especially nice when I close the blackout curtains; makes my room theater dark in the middle of the day.

You won't believe how much cable management had to happen to make this set-up "clean". Thanks for the appreciation.

I fucking love your paint color. Is it just the photos or is it really that bold of an electric orange?

It looks awesome with the white trim/door offset, regardless. Very cool.

Also, dock, I love that SEGA sign. It really stands out where you've positioned it.

hopefully this isnt your "recording studio" that will destroy $25,000 ones because i see absolutely no acoustical treatments, and a shit load of stuff that sound will reflect off of. ive seen closets with egg cartons that would sound better than that

Although, is having a poor sounding recording studio much worse than having straight ghetto Logitech speakers as a part of one's entertainment system?

The answer to these questions may indeed be the key to the next step of our specie's revolution.

Tip number one: buy a chair.

Tip number two: place said chair in your room.

Tip number three: ???

Tip number four: bad ass remodeling job leads to massive profit.

Just saying.

don't mean to come off as a dick, but I see a lot of expensive gear in bedrooms... either you're young and have rich parents or you should have moved out long ago...

Either way it is probably not healthy to have your couch, bed, fridge, microwave, PC, Home Theatre and piss bucket in your room, you will never learn the human interaction dance which is essential for social development.

you think I'm trolling but I'm so serious
Option C. Young and work to earn the things they put in their room.

I'm an 18 year old with a 32" Westinghouse LCD HDTV, 5.1 Logitech Z-5500 surround sound, a PS3, bed, futon, and 16" HP laptop. I've worked for it all, well not the bed. And I have a social life too.

Oh it is fine, but you still come off as a dick.

Some kids might work at summer jobs for their stuff or people have other circumstances that cause their gaming gear to be in their room

My new 60" Kuro Elite. Not the greatest picture of the setup, but I put too much cash into the TV to get a decent camera. What can you do?

Sorry it took so long to respond. Yes. That's a very bright orange. Or as I like to call it "Bright Fuckin' Orange."

Man, a lot of hate for a simple observation. Obviously I know how expensive life is, been living on my own since I was 16, put myself through school, etc. My point is I see a lot of
26 year old
kids these days driving around $35,000 cars, posting glamour shots of their pimped out bedrooms, but hanging out in public parking lots with all their similar friends because they have nowhere else to go :lol

totally jealous of having pimp gear and no responsibilities, I would be a king amongst men

dude, no offense, but seriously, wtf are you talking about? I'm almost 29, but when I was 26, if I didn't already have a child, I would have been able to own my own home, expensive car, professional recording gear and all the HIDEF equipment of my dreams.

Fact is, I had a kid when I was 20 so my life is a little different. Don't knock kids for having better gear than you.

What kind of stand is that?

I picked up a 360 since taking this photo and I haven't quite finalised where it's going to go (taking the PS2s out when they're not being played seems like the best option at the moment) so this is a little out of date:

Apparently you know exactly what I'm talking about... I was saying these kids can afford to fill their room up with expensive gear because they have no idea what real life is, and live off mommy & daddy well into their twenties, call their bedroom their mancave and spend their part time job money on junk. I could understand living at home while going to school (I didn't do that though) or maybe moving back in if times got tough, but to live at home buying up luxury entertainment items (not future-life items like appliances or furniture) is pathetic and all too common. I see crazy amounts of full grown men hanging out beside their supe'd up honda civics in McDonald's parking lots into the late hours of the night because they can't take their skanks back to their "mancave", pretty greasy considering they don't buy anything from McDicks. lol @ anyone defending this.

:lol do you actually keep your original gameboy and 10 other portables on your TV stand? that is what drawers are for! The NES Advantage is nice and props to the dreamcast, but how old are you? you must be well into your twenties if you own an NES and every gameboy ever... did you need to pile your keyboard and controllers into the pic? most people understand that you have controllers for the systems in your pic...

Dude, you sound really jealous. I feel sorry for you if you have to be so bitter all the time. We get it, you worked super hard to earn your crap, do you want a fucking medal?

What the hell is your problem? I don't put any of my portables in a drawer, I like them there on my TV stand. And to answer your question, yes I'm in my twenties. What does that even matter? I keep my PSPs in their cases, they were just there for the picture.

I kept the controllers there because that's also where I keep them, for convince.

Sorry I offended you
