Post Your Gaming Setup: 2009 Edition

Well, I've got the gear/wiring to hook up a Japanese PS2 with the Cave shooters as well as a Dreamcast. Planning to buy a Cave PCB each year as well for it but I'm still trying to decide on the first one. I also picked up a Japanese Saturn and ten shooters so that migh be an option...I know I can get the Saturn running at the arcade resolution but to wire the controls looks like it might take some custom work (whereas for PS2 and DC there are off-the-shelf options) The cabinet is just for vertical shooters so if they don't have tate mode then they won't work. Planning on putting the consoles inside the cabinet. The inside jamma wiring is quite complex so I've just gotta sit down one weekend and just work through it all. But, really, I mostly bought it for PCBs...having consoles connected to it is just an addition.

I really need to start picking up some Cave PCBs when I get my supergun in the coming months... but the fact that Cave is considering releasing some of their back catalog on XBLA has me a little nervous to actually shell out. But damn do I want some ESP Ra De.

I'll have to wait for the network to calm down, so I can register my consoles and get online. :(

Where can I get some cheap frames to hang posters?

They are around $20 no matter where you buy them. Though I found the cheapest way is to make your own. It's quite easy and not hard at all to do.

That IRC client looks just like a script I once created for it - it isn't KIRC by any chance?

Nice screen, considering one myself :)
Nah, it's just the original mIRC, a bit tweaked. Awesome screen, highly recommend it.

I love how your Xbox is crushing a bunch of Limited Edition games..... -_-

That's an ugly little section mang. Just take 5 minutes to clean up some cords, uncrush those games, and line them up on the shelf.

My Desk:

PS3 is behind the monitor on the right.

This is to the right of my desk. Ignore the dust, it's dangerous over there.

Edit: Yes, before anyone asks (like anyone was going to, har), the keyboard is an unfinished Model M mod to make it look like a Portal keyboard. I've been too lazy to get a set of black keys and the missing yellow one.

I've updated my game room with a work-in-progress Cabinet and cleaned up my collection (meaning: sold $5K worth of stuff). This is my game room and I don't worry one bit about decoration, cord management, or anything else. I'm a solo gamer and this is simply my place to play games.

These two set-ups are so awesome!! I'm so jealous because you guys go all out with all the consoles and games.
Game room overload! Unfortunately I can't have a room like this myself because I like everything tidy and minimalistic-like. But man, these set-ups are a joy to behold, thanks for sharing.

My PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast and GC is in the cabnet under the TV. Not connected though, can't be bothered:(

PS2 and GC games are in the second row behind the X360 games. More DS games in the second row on the right.

There are plenty of study lounges (and libraries) to do that. I like to do my work where where I have a lot of space and peace and quiet.

I REALLY want to network shit to get squared away. I'm dying here without XBL and PSN.

My not-so-hot bedroom setup. My first HDTV from '05 hooked up to a modded Xbox (XBMC and a playlist with my 11 season Simpson DVD rips, fuck yeah)

IMG_3981.jpg

Of course my actual home theater is much nicer.

what HDTV is that? I have the same type (32") and i'm struggling to calibrate it correctly.

any tips?

TV is a 40" Sony XBR2.

From left to right: HD-DVD player add-on, Xbox 360 Elite, cable box, center speaker, Wii, PS3 (80GB w/ BC).

Sorry about the picture quality, it was taken with my phone.

TXR2678WHX/XAA according to the sticker, I bought it four years ago in anticipation of the 360 launch. But um, calibrating it? I couldn't help you. I tried fixing the overscan myself through the secret menu thing and well I fucked up and didn't write down the old values, now the top looks kind of weird and slightly bent.

I need a new T.V

Heh, that looks alot like my "set up" with the shitty SDtv and rack of games next to it. I try to avoid looking at this thread, because it only reminds me how badly I need to be not poor and get a HD set. Having a PS3 hooked up to a fucking antique TV just isn't right...one of these days, one of this days...

In my tiny apartment room, I have pretty limited space. But luckily I have enough space to separate my stuff.

In one corner of the room is my work area, featuring my mom's hand-me-down WACOM that I've been using for two years (working on getting a bigger one :D):

And not two feet to the right of the work area, is the "play" area;

A few new pics as I finally got my home office worked out. First pics are in the bedroom. 32" Westinghouse with 120gb 360, 60gb PS3,PC, HD-dvd player and assorted stuff.

Then it's the Wii in the living room(for the kids, etc) on the 42" Toshiba 1080p LCD.

It was such a nice day in North Carolina that I opened up the windows in the home office.I need to get outside . It's a 23" 1080p LCD with a PS3 slim and some games/PSeye in there.

Are those 360 headphones? What brand/model?

Turtle Beach PX1 Ear Force I think, so far they seem like the best ps3/360 headphones (specifially designed for) though I never tried em

Yup, they're Turtle Beach Ear Force X1's. They're pretty nice; have a good bass to'em, and a definite improvement over what I'd been using. I didn't have the spare cash to upgrade to the X41's, which are the really nice $199.99 7.1 Dolby surround-sound model, so I opted for the more appropriate college-kid-on-a-budget $59.95 X1's :D

They're designed specifically for use on the 360, but they work perfectly on my PC as well.

I got a question for a lot of you guys. Judging by some of the pictures, some of you sit very far away from your tv screen, how can you guys play good like that? I have a 46" Sony but damn I can't sit that far away or it's hard for me to see well, see the small details on screen (i sit where i can see comfortably like 3 feet from the tv) or things are to small for me to see well... I must be really fucking blind or something... =\

Depending on the game, I sit about 5 feet from my 52 inch lcd :lol

At least I'm not the only one. It sucks because sometimes I wish I could sit farther back but I start playing shitty because I can't see well so I need to get closer. But damn, some of you guys sit really far away judging by the pictures.

I sit fairly close. Just always the way I've played. But, I guess because I stare at a screen all day anyway.

Is there anything cheaper that can be used for the 360, and has better sound quality than the ones out of the box?

How did you get your date and time display like that? (left monitor)

I want that nao.

It's a skin for a very customizable PC desktop app called Rainmeter. The skin itself is called 10-Foot-HUD; and has both a black and white version included in the download. :)

Here are two of my previous desktops that I've used it with to give you a better look;

Yeah my setup is a train wreck. I wonder what I can buy so that I can have everything in on place. I am thinking about using two monitors , because my current does not have hdmi, I have to use VGA adapter. It is in my loft so I have a lot of space to work with.
