Boys, are you fat fucks all eating regular bacon with white bread?

Here's what you guys need to be doing:

two slices of (toasted) wholewheat bread
light/non fat maynoaise applied extremely lightly instead of margerine/butter
three rashers of Turkey bacon (80 calories, Yo!)
five cherry tomatoes sliced
two leafs of crisp iceberg

BANG!

A wonderful meal with less than 200 calories!

This post inspired me to have a sandwich of oscar mayer bologna and mayo on wonder bread for dinner tonight.

another great type of sandwich, the cuban.

good god. so flat and tasty.

my dad grows tomatoes and other various veggies with the kind of care you'd only expect from a grizzled old man. they are delicious but i would stil prefer if they did not grace my bl(t)

google please remove that sacrilege from my sight

what is it with wanting to have an entire sandwich with meat in it? Or 75% meat and 25% melted cheese.

I think its admirable for people to want to strive to something in life - even if the end goal is heart disease.

What is a Monte Christo?

I just found out a couple days ago that there's a place on the south side of Indy (the name escapes me right now) that makes a BLT with a pound of bacon on it. I shall be trying it sometime in the next couple weeks.

You will be missed.

hierloom tomatoes are delicious. my cousin had a plate of them at her wedding, and I just stood next to the plate and inhaled the whole damn thing.

I can tell you what the worst sandwich in the world is. Japanese convenience store standwiches. Oh please! Can I have a crustless, white bread sandwich with all the filling pushed to the front so it looks like more than it really is? I can has shitty sandwich? >:(

My favorite sandwich from high school is hummus and tapenade and sharp cheddar cheese.

I also like the roasted vegetable and comte cheese sandwich I get at this French Brasserie near my office.

The restaurant I used to work at made a sandwich that was turkey, roasted veggies, sprouts, and jalapeño/cilantro hummus on a 3 seed baguette, outstanding.

I'm a pretty big lettuce fan, but come on, if you think it's just filler then you made the mistake of using iceberg lettuce and not something like romaine. Simple dishes rest much more on quality of their preparation and ingredients, and can't hide behind a varied mix of flavors or spices. Of course, I absolutely love spicy food, but there's a reason why all the better frozen dinners are spicy dishes.

Oh, and tomatoes are GODLY. :P

I'm sure there there's tomato in there -- if you squint you can see the lettuce. If you can't see the bacon you're trying too hard.

I don't get how people can enjoy a BLT without turkey. Either ordering out or eating in, if it's got bacon, it's got turkey. Maybe it evens things out or reduces the vegetable to meat ratio of the sandwich, or maybe I wouldn't want an equal amount of bacon to lettuce and tomato.

Without the best turkey, lettuce, bread, tomato, and average bacon, I'd probably be more into a well-balanced pastami on rye.

i believe the word is deliciousness
I love my meat as much as the next guy, I really do, but a sandwich consistingly ENTIRELY of meat (and I don't just mean one slice of meat, I mean the massive amount in some of these pics) is seriously unappealing. It's no wonder that so many people have serious eating disorders these days.

BLT the best sandwich ever? Nono, it is only the third best.

It's a Cuban. Roast Pork, Ham, Swiss Cheese, Mayo/Mustard, Lettuce & Pickles and that fabulous Cuban pressed bread. The best one I've had is from El Siboney in Key West...

I've seen that called a torta sandwich a few places, I recognize the pressed bread. I've had one with fried shrimp and papaya habanero sauce, it was really good. Not sure what its called where you are.

decent sammich needs meat, cheese and salad as well as mayo and mustard, call it what you want. and eggs, of course:

I just accidentally spent a night playing COD4.

I don't know if I should sleep or have a BTL for breakfast. :[

Also good god Bozo that grilled cheese sandwich looks remarkable.

it is. it's good to see actual chefs recognizing that, despite the european cheese illuminati, american cheese has its place in good cooking--especially in grilled cheese sandwiches and macaroni. if you want something a little more gourmet, mix some fontina with the american. it's damn fine.

I respectfully disagree. While a BLT is a fine sandwich, the king of all sandwiches is the MONTE CHRISTO:

Don't forget the Strawberry jam!!!
Bennigan's does take-out, right? If so, I'm getting one of these, today. I hear they're fucking orgasmic.

No bacon, so I tried to make a Monte Cisco, except with corn beef, ham, and cheddar cheese.

It's actually pretty good :lol and it looks good too. Hopefully I can make the real deal soon and show it off.

monte cristo, while good is indeed overrated. i got one last night cuz of this thread. at $15 it has better taste like heaven in my mouth and it doesnt. not saying its bad just overrated. BLT>>>>>>>>>>>Monte Cristo.

You seem to know your stuff. Just a question for fancy sandwiching dinner time (still 3 hours to go, I want to surprise my GF with a not-too-high-carb sandwich): I usually toast the whole grain bread on the toaster. Duh. But doing it into the frying pan (the fryiiing paaaaan (8)) with some cheese on it can add some texture?

I'd like to experiment but if there is any advice out there to add a small layer of melted cheese while toasting the bread, well, that's great.
i'd not put it in the pan with the cheese on the outside. if you stuff the sammich with the cheese as top/bottom layer, you can put the finished sammich in the hot pan and squeeze it while frying it for a few seconds (10-30 per side). The cheese will melt inside the toast, leaving the other ingredients still intact.

yesterday i had an italian sub from jimmy johns for dinner because of this thread.

today i am making sandwiches of sundried tomato roasted turkey breast and havarti with tomatoes and fresh basil toasted on french bread with a balsamic dressing.

Monte Cristo sandwiches are fucking gross. Powdered sugar on a f'ing sandwich? That's a bunch of non-sense, ok? NON-SENSE

it's all about the italian. anywhere i go, i get the italian. never fails.

not everyone puts powdered sugar on them, you dolt. it's often just a sort of savory french toast.

in fact, i've never seen someone put powdered sugar on one.
