Power level bullshit discussions: is it only a male nerd thing?

Ninja Raiden > Liquid Snake Prime > Solid Snake Prime > Big Boss Prime > The Boss > Cyborg Ninja > Grey Fox > Skull Suit Raiden > Solid Snake Old > Solidus Snake > Big Boss Old

This is assuming pre-2013 canon parameters, no tag backs, fox only, no special items, characters fight with a socom pistol and two magazines in an open white void with chest high walls and scattered cardboard boxes.
Metal Gear Solid V spoilers:
Agreed. Cyborg/Ninja Raiden pretty much whoops the entire MG universe unless Sam was fully-augmented, which never happened. I know you're going pre-'13, but I'd still like to know; where does V fall on that list? I think he could take Frank.

I know you weren't asking me, but...
Solid Snake Prime > Venom >= Big Boss Prime.

I don't know, I think if you-know-who was angry enough they could take Big Boss, but on the other hand I think in most other cases the latter would be the victor.

Nah,
at best I think it's a wash, but if either of them is better, I'd give it to Venom easily. He's got all of Big Boss's training and experience in his head, he was already a top class soldier prior to that, he has a cyborg arm, and the shit he had to deal with, and dealt with incredibly successfully, was more of a challenge than anything Naked Snake had to go up against.

Can't wait until Sentry comes and beats God Doom, there's a reason he hasn't appeared at all yet.

should've been on the multiversal avengers team and died horribly

Because his crazy ass probably managed to punch himself out of the standard multiverse and is in the mcu

I dunno, man. Like, killing a swarm of bees with a fucking knife is pretty intense. You-know-who did some shit and has some shit but you know what, that's kind of insane.

Naked Snake had an intense fight with
The End
, Other dude had an equally, or possibly less, intense fight with
a super version of The End
.

[snip] had an intense fight with [snip], [snip] had an equally, or possibly less, intense fight with [snip].
Hmm, nah I think we're going back to a stalemate. MGSV spoilers:
The End's fight is in a dense jungle and Boss had never sniped in that type of environment and still won, Quiet's is in the desert (with some ruins and rocks, nothing like a jungle though), she's not camouflaged, supply drops, and V has experience. Much less intense. And of course this isn't acknowledging/accounting for Naked waiting out The End with possible fourth wall-breaking time powers(?) because that would ruin this argument.

One last counter-point (Still spoilers for MGSV)

It's the nerd equivelant of comparing sportsmen from different eras.

It's also severely lame AF.
No you!

I asked you a question, gaf.

Hector was the best of the Trojans, but the best of the Greeks are on a whole nother level. Ajax was one of the premier badasses, especially considering he wasn't blessed by the gods like many of the other warriors on both sides. As for Diomedes, he beat Ajax in a duel, so..

The REAL debate:

Who would win in a fight, your significant other or your parent of the same gender, both in their prime?

Would your mom whoop your girlfriend's ass? Could your dad thump your boyfriend?

These are the questions that need answering.

My GF is a softie, pretty sure Mama would win that one

See this? This is bullshit. On a few levels. :P

Not the least of which being "how is that or anything like it at all applicable to fighting Wonder Woman."

meh, I don't know if that's the same thing

my impression was that he was using that electromagnetic energy to mess with Magneto's bullshit, but A)Diana is a lot more durable and B) doesn't have any exploitable weaknesses.

Unless Stark decides to join Doom in dabbling in sorcery or something, he'd have to pull a Batman and just call somebody else in to fight Wonder Woman.

the point there is that with enough time, Stark managed to weaponize the magnetic field of jupiter to turn himself into super-magneto.

with enough prep time there's no real limit to the bullshit he can come up with. Reed flat out says the intelligence difference between Tony and himself is minuscule- but tony is the world's greatest multitasker and much better at working on multiple problems at the same time.

Wonder woman would lose pretty badly to someone with that powerset btw- pretty sure "needs blood to live" is an exploitable weakness when fighting magneto. he's been known to make it run backwards in the body, route it away from the brain to lobotomize you, or rip it out of you entirely to win fights.

not impressed? How about this one?

Bye Diana

If discussing Diana's weaknesses, the version of Diana is important - there's this story illustrated by Alex Ross, Justice, where Cheetah manages to scratch her face, but that's not the end of it -
in that continuity Diana from clay, and Cheetah's claws had centaur's blood on them, which served as a poison that made Diana revert back to clay gradually.

Obviously tony isn't going to be going that route- he's not a magician and that's pretty obscure.

Wonder woman doesn't have any "trump cards" like kryptonite that allow for instant wins, but she can be simply beaten senseless with enough power, and obviously still has human-like biology.

putting her up against any of the super scientists with infinite prep time is pretty much suicide- flying superman clones (sentry, blue marvel, hyperion, etc) most certainly exist in the MU and there are definitely contingency plans against them.

I don't care about fictional character powers but oh man have I had long discussions/arguments amongst friends IRL and on other forums about spaceships. Since there's so many spaceships from books, film, tv and games, a lot with fan made blueprints, stats, etc, there's a never ending discussion of how certain spaceships would fare against each other in a battle and their crews. I love it.

That thread is from July, before we found out that Goku is a Universe buster.

Things look a lot different now with that in mind.

Out of curiosity, maybe I'm behind on my DBZ, though I saw Battle of the God's and Resurrection of F.

Goku's chi was felt all across the universe and into the afterlife when he went SSJ3 back in the Buu arc, but when did he actually become a universe buster?

I thought it was revealed that the whole "you were made from clay" thing was BS and Diana was Zeus' daughter and Hippolyta just didn't want to admit she was yet another one night stand conquest for Zeus. And to protect Diana from Hera.

The problem with power level discussions is that people always think lateral.

They always do this if A > B and B > C, that means A > C. They forget one thing that makes powers, heroes, etc. good - that is, characters have unique quirks and traits that generally don't follow a linear rule.

I don't see a problem with this. Diana can go toe to toe with Superman, and he's way out of Stark's league.

You forgot the time Ironman took a few direct shots from an enrage Sentry, which gave him enough time to come up with a plan?

Wondy doesn't have the straight up juice or options to take more then 5/10 from iron Man.

Superman? He doesn't resist magic so many characters can actually beat him on that aspect. Hell, lately they made Flash able to beat him with that altosecond meme.

And I remember shit like X-Men characters having power level bullshit back at school. Like technically professor X could snap everyone's brain but then you'd have shit like him being pushed on stairs.

these things aren't overlooked at all- they're part of standard discussion. Superman's weaknesses to magic, red solar energy, and kryptonite ALWAYS comes up. How a character would actually behave most certainly does come into play as well.

Professor X absolutely can "turn brains off" if he chose, but he won't because he doesn't enjoy being a murderer. Red onslaught though? Less of a problem with that. Two entirely different opponents with the exact same powerset.

Vulcan and Danger might disagree with you. But that is another thread

You're delusional if you think WW isn't getting 8/10 or 9/10 from Iron Man. Wonder Woman has great resistance to blunt force trauma and moves much faster than Iron Man could ever hope to react to. Not to mention that Diana has strength counted among beings such as Superman, Captain Marvel and Martian Manhunter, the same can't be said for Iron Man relative to his contemporaries- hence why he dons customized armors for various heavy hitters. The scans you posted don't really help your argument because

Wonder Woman isn't susceptible to the same debilitations that plague the Sentry, ie a fractured psyche nor would she grant Tony the opportunity to even enact a plan like that. Also stop being misleading, the Sentry wasn't enraged in that encounter. WIth prep-time and a dossier on WW, sure I'd lower her chances tremendously but in a chance encouter he gets stumped. It's inconceivable to think that a man in a suit is going to overtake someone who is one of the Earth's best combatants, has years of martial experience, who is a threat to Superman and has no known weaknesses aside from piercing weapons. She easily takes it

Bye Diana

That whole reed and Steve panel is stupid. No one talks like that.

"I'm smarter than him, but its fractional."

"I'm motivated only by my family, he's trapped in the future."

Its like comic fans speaking about characters through them.

Dragonball Super.

I asked you a question, gaf.

God it's been forever since I read the Iliad... But The impression I was under was that Hector wasn't really the strongest of heroes. He's more of the Trojan parallel of Odysseus (although I think you could say that's Aeneas at least per The Aeneid). He fights because he has to (and because he's not a bitch like Paris), but he's more of a thinker (or perhaps he's just more emotionally complex).

Don't really remember much about the "power levels" of Ajax or Diomedes, but overall I think they would all be fairly well matched with Hector, Aeneas or whomever.

Other than Achilles none one really seemed obviously more powerful to me.

Yes, being able to exploit a crazy person's weakness of being crazy by way of hacking some tech means Tony 50/50s Wonder Woman.

Haha don't worry, I've already addressed this. There's no comparison. If Robert was truly unhinged, Tony would be a blood smear

You miss the point, he could take the blows from someone that gone toe to toe with the hulk while working out a way to defeat them.

And speed we going to forget about Extremisis and Bleeding Edge?

Isn't Tony wearing the Extremis suit in that scan? There are also other scans prior in that same comic where Tony is evading Sentry and is easily apprehended and slammed into the street. So that really doesn't speak so highly of the Extremis' speed. Personally speaking, if I was being pursued by a being touted as the world's most powerful/greatest hero, with mental instability and harboring a killing machine within him, I'd be flying as fast as possible. Still, you other point is invalid, Sentry was attempting to capture Tony not kill him and there is a SIGNIFICANT difference between the durability of Tony's suit and Hulk so Robert isn't going to strike him with the same force he would the Hulk, that's just simple logic to me.
