PPSSPP 1.0 Released

I didn't think it was possible though, without rooting anyway.
Whoops, I did link to the root instructions. All you need is an on the go cable (mini to micro)

http://www.hashtagandroid.com/tips-...3-controller-with-your-android-device-no-root

Apparently you'll have to root for wireless play tho. :(

There are probably pretty decent quality bluetooth controllers that would run with any android app that has gamepad support. I'm using the shield so I'm all set for controllers, for example

Thanks for this, I wasn't aware and have a couple OTG cables laying around.

I used sixaxis app in the past but stopped when I upgraded and didn't feel like going through the trouble to get it working again.

Can finally play Assault Horizon.

People really underestimate this picture, seeing as PCSX2 is several years old and as far as Hardware-mode AC games are concerned, is still a broken mess. When an emulator makes PSP games look and run better than the PS2 counterpart on the same hardware, something is very wrong.

Anyone noticing freezes? I can get games to work full speed but every 5 or so second the frame freezes and stutters. On Linux, Sdl version.

This is a pretty amazing emulator. I'd go so far to say that it is leagues better than Dolphin as far as the menu and ease of use. I love the fact that you can navigate everything with a controller, and my XBOX ONE controller works flawless without having to haggle with anything.

does this trump openemu for use on the Mac? Last time I used this emulator I needed to use an unofficial copy.

or does openemu use the same core as this?

I have to agree with the ease of use part. I love that it's fullscreen for the menu.

PPSSPP is on Dolphin's level, not PCSX2.
Who knew cooperation was much better than competition!

Aesthetically I'm not in love with the interface, but it's definitely easy to use.

thought I'd try one of my favorites, Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble

:/

gameplay doesn't draw the environment at all and only partial characters

Im guessing there's still work to be done...

Maybe fiora and co. Could do a bit of work on ppsspp after dolphin is "done" more or less.

Oh, man, I should unbury all my PSP games now.
It would be amazing if I could play Killzone Liberation and Dissidia again on a bigger screen.

I wonder if they got Marvel Ultimate Alliance working correctly...

When I tried to play it a few weeks ago on my Nvidia Shield, in-game was fine, but cutscenes wouldn't play (you got audio, but just a black screen). I tried all the settings I could to see if I could fix it, but still nothing.

I'll have to give this a try tonight to check.

Yeah. Seriously, the Playstation 2 is the best selling console of all time and naturally you'd think that there'd be a dozen emulators out there by now for the system, but there's still not a single one that runs well

I'm guessing this is going to be better than the version I paid for.. and I didn't even use it that much..

Oh well, I'm happy I supported them. I'm glad that PSP emulation is better. There are all sorts of PSP games I want to play more of on my PC.

Didn't see this released, going to have to try it out on my new Stream 7. Hope I get some good results with it.

(edit) Also wow... people comparing an emulator for the PSP to an emulator for the PS2 have absolutely no clue what they are talking about.

"It's a shame that we can emulate the DS way better than the X-box... Lazy X-box emu devs need to step up!!"

I just wish there was a way to make touch controls not suck. Playing on my Xperia Z3C isn't really an enjoyable experience.

October 4, 2015: PPSSPP 1.1!

It's been a while, but there are some major new features!

  • Support for ARM64 on Android, for improved performance on new devices. Has some new optimizations.
  • Support Android TV, like nVidia Shield TV
  • Screen rotation on PC, useful for vertical games like Star Soldier
  • Many minor performance improvements and compatibility bug fixes
  • GPU emulation fixes like correct depth rounding, fixing text in Phantasy Star
  • Other graphical fixes like UV rotation
  • Support savestates for homebrew apps
  • Simple integrated "Homebrew Store" to download PSP homebrew apps
  • Minor AdHoc multiplayer improvements. Still many issues left.
  • Disable a dangerous optimization on ARM, causing walk-through-walls in Tenchu
  • sceAtrac music compatibility fixes, fixing noise in a few games
  • Better texture scaling performance
  • Direct3D closer in features to OpenGL
  • Works better on BSD operating systems
  • Savedata management UI

Sweet, I was just hoping for a new update!

One of the games I most want to play on my Nvidia Shield Probably is Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but the cutscenes don't play properly this emulator (audio plays, but no picture). If that has been fixed I'll be super happy.

Edit: Darn, the cutscenes still don't seem to work, but the subtitles appeared at least!
Has anyone played this game and gotten the cutscenes working? I'm hoping there's a setting I can tweak to get them working.

Can game saves be transferred back to a psp or psv for playing on the go?

You can transfer saves but not save states, I think. Just go to your ppsspp configuration directory and open up PSP/Save, find the folder that contains your save data for the game you want and copy it to the correct directory on your PSP. Dunno about vita.

Can also do the reverse so you can play where you left off on your PC.

That's not exactly fair since the PS2 has way more complicated effects in its games, which are simply way harder to emulate.

PSP hardware is much more straightforward at least from what I understand.

Awesome! I love the continual improvements it's seeing. Playing psp games at high-res on a tv has been awesome.

I need to check if Marcel Ultimate Alliance is fixed now.

The game runs fine, but the cutscenes displayva black screen and you hear the audio if I remember right.

That would be awesome if it is working, this is one of the few games that isn't on Vita and I'd love to play it on my phone or Nvidia Shield.

Man, I wonder if Portable Ops is now playable with those combo buttons feature. I remember playing that game in both the PSP and the emulator and feeling that if I could remap some fixed buttons, that game would be totally worth it.

I wonder if these updates would have fixed some of VC3's issues like disappearing units at some rare points. Still, I'm glad this thing has solidified into such a solid emulator, I really like the interface a lot too.
