Predict the bombas of Q1

If these are based on GAF predictions: all of them.
Otherwise:
Dead Space 3
Crysis 3
Army of Two
Fuse
Maybe Tomb Raider.

I feel Aliens CM will sell in spite of the game looking terribly mediocre.

DmC will bomb for sure. Might do alright the first week, but after that it's dead.

Sly, Aliens and FUSE are completely screwed, too.

For some reason: Gears of War Judgement.

I like the series and enjoyed 3 a lot, but it doesn't have the push or the strenght of other MS franchises. It was pretty clear when the game was practically dead online a few weeks before it's first year, and I don't see people going OMGFUKYES on Judgement either.

I think you guys are crazy thinking DmC is going to bomb. I won't be playing it, that's for sure, but I think it'll sell plenty.

They're letting internet negativity dictate their expectations. Which is fine, I guess, but it doesn't always pan out that way. Operation Raccoon City sold over 2 million copies in only a couple months, despite all the backlash and crappy reviews.

Pikmin 3 (spring) - Million Seller

holy shit. You think Pikmin 3's gonna be a million seller? Talk about optimistic. I wish it'd be a million seller.

Damn those are some real low numbers for Rayman. Are we expecting it to be that much of a bomba?

PS3 version sold 140,000 in Japan in the first week...

SEGA announced 1.1 million shipped shortly after launch.

Ooh. Good for Sega. That's cool :)

Are bombas just something that didn't sell hundreds of thousands of copies? What if they hit publisher expectations? For example, it's not like Ni No Kuni has sales projections of 2 million and if it doesn't hit it its a bomba. Same with Sly Cooper.

Even Sega knows Anarchy Reigns will be a bomb. They're releasing the game stateside for $30 straight out the gate.

Previous Pikmin games were over a million. I expect the same, since there are few exclusive Nintendo games on the Wii U. It will get there easily, though it will take a couple of years.

Sega's most profitable game ever that is raking in so much money that it's keeping the rest of the company afloat, I await to see how they can possibly fuck up the western release :x

Well they put in on the Vita for starters.

With several games being delayed from 2012 into early 2013 we're coming up to three of the busiest months in recent memory as each publisher rushes their games out for the financial year end.

Some big franchises don't have anything to worry about, but I think we're going to see a lot of upsets in this quarter unless a few of them slip further. Which games do you think will be the biggest bombas? There are still independent releases like DayZ standalone and Amnesia which will probably drag a little of attention from these titles, too. I know I will be struggling to manage my budget. I've omitted Kickstarter releases because A. they're already paid off and B. many seem to be missing deadlines.

Bombas are just games that didn't sell as well as people expected. Nobody actually knows if the game did well for the company unless they come out and say it themselves.

Damn those are some real low numbers for Rayman. Are we expecting it to be that much of a bomba?

Rayman Origins did 50K in its first month across 3 platforms with a combined install based of almost 170 million. Not sure what you are expecting from a Wii U exclusive with no install base (as it just launched).

edit: It might be more than 170 million as i forgot to add the PS3 lol.

Not really. Rayman Legends so far is exclusive, and he has no appeal. I loved Origins, but i'm realistic.

Origins was great, reinvigorated the Rayman franchise. The game was on the Wii U demo units.
I think Rayman is going to exceed expectations. I was half joking about it being a million seller. But no way it is a Bomba, Rayman is back.

Anyone know it's sales to date? i know it started slow, but i feel like its one of those games people came around to

And if Origins is going to sell bad because of wii's install base, wont pikmin as well?

Previous Pikmin games were over a million. I expect the same, since there are few exclusive Nintendo games on the Wii U. It will get there easily, though it will take a couple of years.

Pikmin 3 should actually sell more than the last two when all is said and done since its:
1. not on the gamecube
2. got exposure in brawl(the next smash bros could do soemthing for it as well), Nintnedo Land, and the rereleases on the Wii
3. should have a bigger fanbase now since it seemingly has a cult following now

Bombas are just games that didn't sell as well as people expected. Nobody actually knows if the game did well for the company unless they come out and say it themselves.

Then when the general census is that a game will be a "bomba" isn't it safe to say that people never expected it to sell a lot?

What is the expectation for each title?

I'd think MGR:R would also bomb but i dont think the sales predictions are that high so it will still count as a success.

DMC im really not sure about, DMC has a bunch of hate day zero but its still a DMC game so its bound to sell simply because of the name.

Crysis 3 will sell as expected.

Yikes. I did not know that. I know the game didn't sell well but I didn't expect its launch numbers to be so depressing.

Rayman Origins became profitable. It had good legs. I expect Legends to perform similarly, especially once it goes multi-platform.

I'd be well up for Sly if I had not just bought the HD trilogy, which are all new to me. Haven't even finished Sly 1 yet. Something tells me I'll be sick of the series by time I rap up Honour Among Thieves.

Ni No Kuni, unfortunately. It looks beautiful and I can't wait to play it.
Anarchy Reigns isn't going to sell well because of Sega's horrid mismanagement. Can't wait to play that either.
Sniper will see moderate PC sales and that's it, console versions will die silently.
Everything in February will do well, but you'll see games eating each other for sales dominance. Stuff like Sly, Aliens and Crysis will see better sales in March
GOW:A will do poorly because it's a vita game.
Army of Two will bomb because it's army of two
Sim City and the Wonderful 101 will do exceedingly well because it's SOMETHING to play on the WiiU.
FUSE will do poorly because it has an inherent identity crisis.
