Prince of Persia movie script review (Its good?!?)

Bruckheimer and Bay - back together again for Prince of Persia, which is epic in its scope. Disney has got a monster hit and another potential blockbuster franchise on their hands. Prince of Persia can be as fun as Pirates of the Caribbean. Even if you never played any of the games, if you’re into Arabian Nights, Aladdin, Sinbad, Ali Baba and his 40 Thieves, or old-school Arabian adventures, then Prince of Persia is for you.

What is also super-cool about the script is the use of PARKOUR. Parkour is a physical art of French origin, the aim of which is to move from point A to point B as efficiently and quickly as possible, using principally the abilities of the human body. It is meant to help one overcome obstacles, which can be anything in the surrounding environment — from branches and rocks to rails and concrete walls — so Parkour can be practiced in both rural and urban areas.

One of the producers said in the trades that Prince of Persia is a 9th century Indiana Jones and it reads and feels like one.

The Parkour part is interesting, but it's not like it hasn't been in a movie before. I think this movie is gonna have the biggest budget for a videogame movie ever.

Awesome, I had almost forgotten about this movie. Disney obviously has big plans for the movie, it makes me wonder whether or not Ubisoft still has the rights to the franchise or not.

As good as the script may be, MICHAEL BAY will destroy it.

I gotta disagree with you on this one thing though, I would rather eat a live baby in front of my grandma than have Michael Bay direct a DIE HARD movie.

I would rather go hunting with Dick Cheney than let that car engine in a human skin leave his satanic fingerprints on John McClane.

In fact, this new PG-13 thing is the only part of ruining modern action movies that Michael Bay is not personally responsible for. The rest of it is all him. Don't even ****ing say those words in the same sentence, you're only gonna give them ideas for part 5. It's like saying Candyman in front of a mirror, that mother****er will show up and snort John McClane's soul right in front of you and then piss it out on your shoes.

Wow, Parkour is getting a lot of attention lately. They had a whole scene devoted to Parkour in Casino Royale. One of the men who popularized Parkour over in the UK was cast in the film. Heck, even Jade Redmond mentioned the gameplay in Assassin's Creed is influenced by it.

Interesting, that the guy that invented Parkour.. (David Belle from the movie: District B13)

Looks like the prince too.. :)

who can play a better prince? if there basing the movie off sands of time?

How about someone who is actually Iranian/Persian for starters?

But considering this is a Bay/Bruckheimer movie there's no way they'll go for an actor that isn't easily recognizable. Orlando Bloom it is!

Michael Bay wouldn't be too bad, considering the kind of directors video game movies have traditionally had. It would be interesting to see what he'd do in a movie without any cars or highways as well.

10 minute-long chariot chase scene confirmed

The whole cast will be caucasian, and I ahte them for it.

Just watch.

I fear the same thing. I've been dying to see a modern reinterpretation of Arabian Nights or something with a similar setting/theme for ages now. Unfortunately, Bruckheimer is the last person on Earth I would have chosen to head things up. I just know he's going to turn this into another run of the mill summer action flick.

However, I have enjoyed some of Bay's films in the past (he certainly doesn't deserve all of Willis' scorn), so hopefully he combined with Mechner's script will be enough to cancel out all the terrible casting decisions I'm sure Bruckheimer will attempt to force on this movie.

I've also heard a LOT of good things about the Transformer movie he has coming out pretty soon, so yes he most definitely is not as horrible a director as many make him out to be.

1. When I first saw this thread, I said, "Let me guess, it's Latino Review." How they manage to get exclusives is one of the great mysteries of the internet -- their writing is at a sub-Harry Knowles (vastly sub-Harry Knowles) level, the sort generally associated with fetal alcohol syndrome.

2. Michael Bay directing is still just a rumor.
