Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 - The Official Thread

I wonder what happened to the PES netcode. I loved the first 360 PES (was it PES6?) after moving on from PS2 (where PES5 is still the best virtual football game), and I played it 99% online. Since that version it's been unplayable over Xbox Live :/

From what I gather, it is still not ok? Any 360 players able to comment?

Right now, I play FIFA 10 and love it, and I can't stand PES against the AI, but against another player, it's a whole different story.

Right on. Aside from Goldeneye (N64) and Virtua Tennis (Dreamcast), my most favorite multiplayer experiences came from Winning Eleven 6 and Winning Eleven 9.

I dont know if this is something they added in the patch, but Ive just discovered the magic of R2+Through pass.

Seems like it works with high through passes as well. So useful for those strikers making runs in the box.

I dont know why Konami doesnt make an ingame tutorial for all these "secret" combination, because people who bitch about not being able to control through pass power can totally benefit from this little thing.

if someone from europe wants to play PES10 on PSN, add me as an friend: spwolf.

This is first PES on PS3 that works online for me... as long as you are from Europe, especially central europe, it works fine...

Agreed. I still have no idea how the computer can pull off some beautiful passes/crosses but I can't. There must be some sort of button combination I am missing.

I picked it up again after having a lapse for a few weeks. Playing as Liverpool, second season into it after winning the treble and some players are just insane when you train them up real good. I wanted to buy Chiellini off the bat for some better defensive measures but he didn't join till now, even though Agger has morphed into someone better than him. I'm currently paying $6M a year for Torres and he is worth $12M a year :lol I believe it was the 4-goal haul he produced during the Champions League when we destroyed Inter away during the knockout stage that really elevated him into getting the golden boot in every comp and winning European player of the year.

It's actually quite funny watching the transfers and the scout listings and seeing the aftereffects of a teams performance. After we drilled Inter, Julio Cesar was dropped to the bench for weeks to stay as reserve GK. I wanted to nab him during that and boot Reina out but I couldn't afford him and that was the only thing stepping in the way apparently.

Now that a few new patches are out I want to try and restart everything but a few of the players I've bought over the first season and netting some really good prospects this season are not making me want to. Balotelli is becoming a giant of a forward, Catermole might soon replace Mascherano as my DMF, and I've got a new GK rolling in who looks set to be bigger than Buffon.

Still I'd rather see the Bundesliga teams in and to be playing as Newcastle United.

:lol Just had some goalkeeper in my youth team where his overall rating was 87 at the age of 15. I thought I was seeing things but there he is.

Decided to update everything and start a new ML and I went with Arsenal this time cause most Option Files don't seem to bother seriously with the Championship. What is it with me and choosing clubs that my uncles adored for decades?

Anyway I managed to recruit Gourcuff within the first season so I'm extremely happy. Alongside Fabregas, the duo are slicing opponents apart with ease. Destroyed a Manchester Utd defensive outfit that had snagged Buffon and Maicon to go with Ferdinand and Vidic by 3-0.

Wow. Too bad not much people in this thread will appreciate.

I scored the sweetest goals ever with Pro Evo 2008 Wii. I really wish I would have uploaded a few as they put some of these to shame ;)

i'm going crazy with the super hero trophy...

i'm on my 6th year, always playing all games, always the man of the match, goals and assists...

and the winner always goes to somebody else..

and i'm on manchester united, not some shitty little team..

what's wrong?!!?

that's the trophy I need to finish the game and get the platinum

The very last one shows why PES Wii is a beast. Every movements from all teamates are controlled manually. It requires skills, but feels so satisfying once you master it :)

Makes me want to boot the game right now!

never played Wii PES but the video looked too direct for me, it is like playing football in the 70s. one end to the other end fun as it is, seem to lack the physical and tactical battle of today's football. amirite?

Nope.

Physical? It's still a bit lacking in respect to the classic 1 vs 1 PES/WE, but much improved in this year's iteration, now you can actually do most of the things with the analog stick when you'r controlling a player, but you can very much feel the lack of the R2 button moves (defending the ball with the elbow/arms, chest's ballstops...).

Tactical? Quite the opposite, it's friggin' light years ahead of the other versions, puts them to shame, not even a contest.
It's quite simple really:
human (you) team mates' control and game tactics >>>>>>> any PES A.I.

All in all I love "classic" PES but as a football game the Playmaker Wii version it's definitely a more complete and satisfying package.

(Btw, the video that was posted was nothing special really, other than a couple of good plays it was just lots of shitty and lucky goals, there are much better examples out there showing what amazing game PES Wii is)

okay i have a question about PES Wii 2010 local coop multiplayer

i played this with a friend and we discovered that player 2 can only play up to 2 players from 11..

this is of course a frustrating limitation since player 2 cant have as much fun as player 1... is there any way to fix this..?

Here is one that was recently posted: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_4BUfe_CTw

I love this game.

Jett Garner reviewed the Wii version which, according to him, is
"head and shoulder above the next-gen versions playing with the CLASSIC CONTROLLER" :O
He doesn't even review the Wii centric version of the gameplay using the pointer controls (which I love).

http://winningelevenblog.com/blog/jett-g-on-pes-2010-wii/

He makes so many interesting and true points.
He also praise the PS2 version of the game (although on a HDTV it's an eye sore, even more so than the Wii version ;) and I think that it's still missing the widescreen video).

I fucking agree.
No contest.

New Winning Eleven coming this Spring! :D

Winning Eleven will be seeing a second cross platform title this year to join the annual Winter installment. Konami announced today Winning Eleven 2010: Aoki Samurai no Chousen (Young Samurai Challenge), which is now in development for PlayStation 3, PS2, PSP and Wii.

This off season Winning Eleven gives players the chance to lead the Japanese National Team to the top of the world. The game is officially licensed and features realistic recreations of players, emblems and uniforms.

OK I'm installing the PC version does anybody know which is the best patch mostly looking for ones that have at least the top 50 or more international teams and most of the popular Euro leagues, South American leagues a plus.

just checked my latest statistics

total play time so far: 120h
spent most of my time in the master league (103h). too bad the online mode of pes 2010 isn't working. i easily spent over 100h in the last games. this year only 7.5h.

but i'm really diggign' the master league. especially thanks to the option files which gave me the possibility to use the mighty fc bayern!

I should check my stats but I'd say I'm probably at the 75 hour mark by now. I'm loving the ML too, my original one on 4 star difficulty with a team created from scratch is for when I want to grind and take my time, but my new one with Blackburn is for quick progress. Made the kits myself and, while they don't have the sponsor, they look pretty good! :)

Just saw this thread bumped up to the first page and just thought I'd come in here and say that after a couple of intensive FIFA sessions in the past few days, I have fully converted to FIFA. I've been a loyal fan of Winning Eleven since 1995 when the series was still called ISS on the SNES and I've been staunchly anti-FIFA since 1998.

In late-08 to early-09, I tried the FIFA 09 demo and thought it was good but just couldn't adjust to the gameplay coming from PES. So I stuck to PES09 that year despite the horrors of the prior version. PES09 was decent enough but it didn't feel like a true next-gen game with the subpar graphics, shitastic commentary and gameplay that didn't feel all that different from the PS2 iterations.

Fast forward to late-09 and the reviews of PES10 arrive and what do you know? Things have hardly changed! Shocking! So I gave the FIFA10 demo a shot. I thought it was good enough. It felt close enough to Winning Eleven in terms of gameplay and I decided I wasn't going to continue throwing my money at devs who don't deserve it.

So I bought FIFA10, played a few matches, thought it was decent and chucked it to the side when the holiday avalanche began. Fast forward again to last week, I sat down with the game and began Manager Mode. Oh, what a joy it is to finally be playing a football game with good commentary (Martin Tyler and Andy Gray! And they actually talk about United-Liverpool rivalry and the Old Trafford stadium during matches!) and nearly complete licenses (no more fake English teams! no more thinking of option files!).

And then, I dived into the gameplay. Dear god, the amount of control you have is astounding. The use of the right stick for touches is a brilliant idea and adds soooooo much depth to the gameplay. 360-directional run is great. Players actually move intelligently around the pitch. Use of the LT to "jockey" while defending adds another layer of depth and realism to gameplay. You no longer have periods of time during matches where all your passes go awry and all your players start behaving stupidly simply because you're leading and the game likes to make things exciting by handicapping you.

I didn't come in in here to troll but merely to share. Those of you who have never given FIFA a serious chance, I urge you to do so. The demo is free to download. Give it a shot and you might be surprised. Try playing with the right stick and executing first-touches with it, you might like what you see.

Goodbye Winning Eleven. You've had a good run. But another game deserves my money so much more than you do.

Didn't the Winning Eleven franchise as we know it today actually spawned from first Goalstorm game on PS1?? My intro to the series was the subsequent Goalstorm 97, which eventually became WE/ProEvo. Back then I had also heard so many praises for the ISS games on the n64 so I had to check it out for myself. Took me only couple tries at some games shop to realize it had vastly different feel of football...and my later experience of playing another ISS game on the SNES (via an emulator) further confirmed that Konami footie games NOT made for the Playstation was actually developed by a different team...

Anyway, good on ya for finally moving on. It's far from perfect but as you've already known, I too grew up on the WinningEleven franchise, and right now Fifa's the better buy (though by not much)

serious question that I can not find answered anywhere on the fucking internet! seriously!

I'm totally bored of master league, I used to love it cos me and my mates would train our team up, find that one youngster and train him up to be the difference and go round to each others house with a memory card and play each other for hours.

But having grown up, we dont do that anymore. so I lost interest in training up my team every damn year.

BUT!!!

If I can train up my team and take my trained team of kids online to play against a friends trained up team, I can see myself getting into this again. Is this possible??

Or can I only use non-trained players?

I always like to make myself as well and train me up, can I take my created player online as part of my master league team to play against a friend?

ok gonna answer my own question, yes you can use your master league team online against friends, but no, player growth is not reflected....which KINDA DEFEATS THE WHOLE FUCKING POINT KONAMI!! WHAT THE FUCK!!

Honestly so much potential in the master league and going online mode. The community mode they set up is also amazing, way better than FIFA clunky interface. But why should I bother signing young players if when I take them online they're all crap? why can't I save replays and share them online with my community? These are all things I used to do via memory card with friends. Train up a secret player and unveil my secret weapon, then go home and tweak and refine my team again based on how I did.

Why can't I make cup knockout competitions via the community mode? WHAT THE FUCK???

Why have they taken out the control options, type 5 was my type, now its gone. I've gone back to PES from FIFA and have a lot of fun with it still, but.....what the fuck?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure of that. Back then, I did play Goalstorm (it was 97 as well I think) on the PS1 as well and noticed that it was quite different from ISS on the SNES but attributed it to platform and technology difference. Never did try ISS on the N64 but AFAIK, it was the superior football game for quite a while.

PES 2010
Insider-Tips on PES 2010, anyone?

Hi there PES fans.

Right now we're working night and day on PES2011...but I can't share any details yet. Sorry, I wish I could, it's really exciting!

In the meantime I thought you might like some tips from myself and the team to help you get the most out of PES2010, which we hope you're still enjoying.

The aim will be to update these tips every two weeks or so, but that'll depend on our coding commitments. We aren't going to try and cover everything - I wish we had that much time - it'll be more like a selection of our favourite bits of advice. Here's the first instalment.

Trapping on your chest : When you trap a high ball on the chest, the following move tends to get delayed by a split second and you
may lose the possession. If you're not in the position where the ball will land, you'd better "super cancel" and move to where the ball will land. By so doing, you can control the ball more quickly with your feet and your following move don't be delayed, which means less chance of you losing the ball to the opposition.

Free kicks within 20 meters: When taking a free kick less than 20 meters from goal, it's difficult to control the height of the kick exactly as you'd wish. In this case, try a ground ball under the wall. Players in the wall often expect high balls and will jump. Ground balls aren't affected by power so you don't worry about that, but you really have to take aim carefully.

Keep an eye out for more of our advice and tips in the future.

Seabass.

First Look: Winning Eleven 2010 Aoki Samurai no Chousen
Konami's World Cup edition of Winning Eleven goes multiplatform this Spring.

This week's Famitsu has a first look this week at Spring's Winning Eleven release, Winning Eleven 2010 Aoki Samurai no Chousen. For those without access to the magazine, Famitsu.com quickly came through with a look of its own.

Originally announced in early February, Aoki Samurai no Chousen will hit PS3, PSP, PS2, and Wii on May 20. The PSP and PS2 versions will run ¥4,980. The PS3 version will run ¥6,980. The Wii version, which has the full name Winning Eleven 2010 Playmaker Aoki Samurai no Chousen, will run ¥5,980.

The focus of this of this new Winning Eleven is on the Japanese national team, as indicated by the "Aoki Samurai no Chousen," literally "Challenge of the Blue Samurai," from the title. You'll lead the Japanese national team against top national teams from throughout the world.

2d0gg3r.jpg

All the modes of play from last year's Winning Eleven 2010 are in here, but the big selling point is the new "Japan Challenge Mode," where you attempt to lead the Japanese national team to an appearance in the "International Cup" or its Asian preliminaries (Winning Eleven doesn't have the World Cup license, so they have to come up with alternative naming).

This mode lets you take control of the Japanese national team as a whole, or you can choose to play from the perspective of a single Japanese team player. When playing as a single player, you can select any position except for the goalie.

The Japan Challenge Mode also lets you create your own Japanese national team member using a player create mode. You use the player that you create in the Become a Legend mode here.

The various versions will have unique features. The PS3 version will allow you to add players via online updates. The PSP version will include, for the first time, voice commentary, provided by the duo of Tsuyoshi Kitazawa and John Kabira. The Wii version offers options for Wiimote and Classic Controller play. It also includes Mii support, allowing you to use your Mii as your player.

We all do, but let's face it... it's never coming back. Not this generation anyway. Konami is way too far behind.

Hopefully they won't fuck up next generation and start working on the game sooner. And please, for Heaven's sake, do not use the same analog stick for movement and feints.

I'm trying to play this on the PC at the moment and its so broken its untrue. I've patched it with the SMOKE patch and put the game speed down a tad using kitserver and it still doesn't save it. Its impossible to play flowing football with this game for some reason. The first touch system is broken. Also what the hell happened to manually being able to set the cursor settings. Its beyond broken. Trying to select the player you want is such a nightmare.

I'm so dissapointed its untrue. The game doesn't actually look too bad on the PC once you mod it and tweak it.

I'm back at PES 6, lol. Does anyone know how to:

wtfisdat.gif

I've never seen it done before.

Also, I just realized that if I press L2 + R1/R2 I change the offensive/defensive attitude of my team. I've been playing PES for 9 years and didn't know this. :lol

Does anyone else feel that the game plays better on SDTVs and that WE 2010 is much better than PES 2010? It can't be just me...

anyone still playing it?
My ps3 was finally fixed and I'm back =)

Is the 1.03 the last EUR patch? I've hear about a 1.05 patch...

And which OF are you using? I download the "updated file" from Konami and it just changed nothing in the game!
