Every other game in each series that has been released in Japan has been released over here. They are actually really popular, so I see no reason to doubt it won't make it over here.

General consensus seems to be: Play 1 and 3 of each series, and skip 2.

Nobody sane would say that. The second in each are arguably not quite on the same level as the other two in their respective series, but they are both very good games, and in the case of PW, integral to the enjoyment of the series.

I thought about that when I was writing my reply, I was going to do the laughing face at my comment but figured I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. But you're right, even at $250, I can predict looping lines beginning days in advance of the 3DS launch.
