Project Acoustics XSX Audio Video

Don't bother, this forum was fine when autism was only in speculation thread, now there many threads about salty insecure soyboys, which cannot deal, with PS5 being weaker console. I also laungh about this 3D Audio, when almost nobody has proper equipment for this. But sure as a marketing it works beatifully, I think Sony is really smart with this approach, because PS drones does job voluntarily and without any financial compensation.

"More balanced architecture", where I heard that before. Oh yes that sweet Xbox One launch. I though that many people would grow up since then, but it does not seems to be the case.

It's like people have forgotten Sony also manufacture and sell headphones/speakers/soundbars.

That's a big reason why they will be pushing their "audio solution" as the best thing since sliced bread.

Sure, I don't deny that, the issue is that who is going to buy that, to enjoy this 3D engine to full potential. We are talking about 1000+ USD or good headphones which is like 300+ USD, I don't think that's realistic to anticipate, that people will even care about this. I sure care, because Dolby Atmos for headphone is amazing. Ori sounds really great with it. But I also create music, so high-end headphones is not an issue. But then you have to buy decet amp for it, etc. Which again is a lot of money for game console.

But yeah, I undestand your point : )

Also, 3D audio(similar to Microsoft's spatial audio) and Audio Ray Tracing are different things.

Actually Cerny spoke about the possibility to use ray tracing for audio way before anyone else, last year. It's used to have a realistic sound that reacts like in real life, depending from the environment. But for what concerns location, there's no difference. It's the realism of the sound that comes from whatever direction that changes. And the very same thing has been already analyzed by Cerny last year.

3D audio is another thing. The definition of "3D audio" is widely used used for pr advantages (so it's often used wrongly), but the Sony project is actually focused in making the sound be perceived as in reality, with locality. Not just coming from one of the speakers of a 5.1 system. Even if the audio comes from the tv speakers. That's possible elaborating the audio in a way that fits your personal ear structure. In that way it's possible to ear sounds in any direction, even above or below, precisely located. Immersion is the result.
 
MS has been working with audio for a long time, its nothing new and Sony hyping it is, well if you want to be ignorant and just lap up lies then be my guest.

But project acoustics isnt audio raytracing, it is specifically says it isnt on the project page. its pre-baked audio thats sampled through complicated filters, its the same as pre-baked lighting but for audio. its like none of you read the description of the project.

I will be getting a PS5 so yeah call me a fanboy all you want. I just pre-ordered FF7 for my PS4 so... I don't buy bullshit. Apple does this all the time, its all BS marketing speak. Not saying it will not be impressive, just saying that it more than likely will not be revolutionary. It may be cool, but not something that will change the game so to speak.
 
Tempest 3D audio is interactive binaural. Ms tech is rasterized audio. You can achieved the same with ray-traced audio but even more dynamic if let's say you destroyed one of the wall in game.
