Project CARS 2 Trailer has been leaked

I wonder how many patches it will take for it to be decent this time. PCars for consoles was a huge fucking mess. I'll probably wait for a deep sale like I did last time.

Driveclub hasn't been the best looking racer since FH3 launched.

Console versions only? Nope, FH3 is not even close. But that's fine, they are not in the same genre.

Looks great. I had my issues with the first game but Im certainly looking forward to giving this one a go. Hopefully in VR.

Comparing them visually makes sense, at least in the context of what is normal in a videogame discussion.

Not much sense. One is a whoop-de-do 30fps arcade game, the other a serious 60fps sim racer.

They both feature races with cars based on real models, but that's about it.

Anyway, old ground that doesn't need a retread.

So I guess it will be 30fps on consoles then :(. If that's the case, I hope it will be locked to 30 like in DC.
I doubt it. pCARS was 60fps (targetted).

Sure sure, it all looks great but will they get the engine sounds right? I take sounds over graphics when it comes to racing games.

I doubt it. pCARS was 60fps (targetted).

I am somewhat skeptical that they can maintain the visual fidelity shown in the video, with dynamic whether, 10-15 cars on screen while running at 60fps on consoles.

I'll happy to be proven wrong by DF technical review after the game gets released.

LTTP and bought Project Cars GOTY edition and wow - I'm very impressed.

Then I see this.......

I honestly don't think I'll pick up GT sport after seeing this

Most of it looks great, apart from some details like reflection in the window at the start (low res) and general blockiness of some parts of the environment (visible polygon edges instead of curves). That one detailed shot with quickly changing time of day impressed me the most.

Well, what was shown was obviously running on a capable PC, but pCARS 1 scaled very well to PS4 with ~60fps in clear weather and 20+ opponents. Run a night race in a storm with 40 other cars and it performed less well, but still pretty solidly.

Not quite as good on Xbone, I believe.

There's no doubt that pCARS 2 will push vanilla PS4 and Xbone to their limits though. Outside of PC gaming the Pro or Scorpio would be the best bet, of course.

Track and tarmac visuals look amazing, but I feel the color and gloss are closer to Forza in the sence that they look cartoony. Love the weather effects though! I will buy it along with GT:Sport. Hell, I'll buy any sim racer.

It doesn't look as good as the last GT Sport videos, but it still looks amazing in both graphics and content/features, hoping it's a great improvement from the original.

Great to see the genre coming back with GT Sport, Project Cars and Dirt 4. Looking forward to all 3.

Also, one is called Project CARS and the other is called Driveclub which makes comparing them even more nonsensical.

(I don't care about comparing graphics that much honestly but visually comparing racing games is perfectly fine and logical. And 'whoop-de-do arcade game'? Seriously?

If it controls well with a controller and has upgrades for Scorpio I'll pick it up. I love the water pooling on the trackside.

looks a bit hit and miss. for every realistic moment there was something like this

https://youtu.be/0YrrK92fQmk?t=37

i really like what looks to be a full weather system and pooling water etc. i just hope it's for every track and not just a handful (was an annoyance in GT5/6 too, either do it across all tracks or not at all)

Pretty jarring change in quality going from looking at those car models to the environments for the first time, but it is a WIP after all.

I know that you shouldn't play racing games with a controller, but man, I could never get mine dialed in on PC with the first game. Gave up on it after a few short hours. Glad they're making a second one though... I'm sure I'll give it a go.

That looked like some sort of strange encoding or oddly stepped video. Lower framerate and not smooth like it should have been. Do replays in PC not run at an interpolated framerate? So if you slow down time, do they "step?"

Definitely not right looking.

The weather effects are super awesome, but the lightning in GTS is still superior.

Furthermore, what are the odds that this trailer was taken from PC?

What the hell is going on with GT: Sport? No release date still?

I was looking forward to it as probably the only console racing game that will still offer 2 player split screen as an option.
Most people probably assume November at this point, which should be a huge motivation for SMS to keep the "septemberish" release window. With the ToD and dynamic weather, more than doubled car count, all premium sport car brands in aaand if they can get the controller steering and wheel FFB right this time, they really have a chance to eat PD's lunch sales-wise. On the other hand, if SMS is even willing to do sacrifice quality assurance for the possibility to launch before GTS, then they could repeat their pCARS1 mistake and bad worth of mouth could kill the game and studio.
If I had to bet though, I'd say GTS November and pCARS2 much later in April 2018, both games will be different and great in their own way.

Looks amazing.

Hopefully with VR support right up front, and I hope they can work some magic to get it to look better than Project Cars 1 looked in VR.

Looks decent.

I was really disappointed with the first game as it never really felt like anything more than a low budget game, couldn't wait too play it but just found it bland when it finally launched. It made me also worry about Assetto Corsa as the launch approached but I found that really delivered for me.

I'm not dismiss this due to the first game but I'm being far more cautious than I was with the first game. Hopefully it'll be an improvement though.

You can race any track at any time of day on any day of the year, and expect appropriate seasonal weather and environmental effects.

Got burned on Project Cars on the PC as it was just a terrible sim, though I only paid $15. It looked great, but handling was just something else.

Will probably wait on Project Cars 2 until it hits Humble Bundle or something like that.

I remember reading something about 200+ tracks at launch. Is this still true?

It will probably be variations of a track. PC had 3 or 4 variations a track, for 25 locations/tracks and about 100 variations. 50 locations for PC2 probably sounds about right.

Driveclub hasn't been the best looking racer since FH3 launched. You guys live in a bubble?

Anyway, this isn't an official trailer and was already in the other thread. Lock it up.

Driveclub is still easily the best looking racer on consoles, there isn't even a contest. Given what FH3 is doing though it shouldn't be compared as graphically it's not even a fair fight.
