I don't think it's even the #1 reason Westerners stay away from Japanese porn in general, if they even stay away lol. I bet it's more about the genre that Japan usually tackles on their overall porn. Narratives that will make other nationalities cringe when they see it for the first time.

Hey now, actual erotic ASMR is great. I've always been much more into audio than video, so porn almost universally sucks (figuratively speaking) for me. Porn actors obviously aren't chosen for their voice very often. Hentai was much better, because voice actors tend to know what they're doing a lot more. Erotic ASMR has just taken that to a new level.
I find it unfortunate when people bash it. Just because the porn industry exists, doesn't take away any of Hollywood's legitimacy. Both regular and erotic ASMR can exist just fine.
