Project M 3.0 Trailer - Release Date, Kirby, Samus, Olimar, and much more

There is a completely hackless version available. It's the set I use. The only set up it requires is an SD card, and deleting all custom stages you might have saved in Brawl. The mod takes over from there.
Now THIS is incredible. Thanks to you, and another head nod of respect to the people working on this mod.

Looking forward to what December has in store.

I see your pitchforks GAF and I refuse to give my post further explanation as it will just cause a pointless argument. I'm personally not a fan of Project M but I'm happy that there's an alternative for those who wish to seek it.

I don't see what's a bad thing about adding some competitive features AND adding some new features/stages that people who don't like that style can enjoy too (new taunts, modified stages like old Melee Hyrule brought back in full glory, etc.)

But if you're okay with just drive-by posting without explanation, whatever. People will enjoy this because it helps fix a lot of complaints people had, both casual and tourney goers, like tripping/lack of hit-stun or combos/etc that was present in Brawl.

ROB's Virtual Boy alt is amazing.

Do I have to re-unlock all the characters, or does the mod do it for me if I don't have them?

I moved my Brawl file to my Wii U and want to use this on my old Wii which no longer has a Brawl file. I'd rather not like to spend 5 or so hours grinding through to unlock everyone.

SAMUS IS IN GARBLE GARBLE MOD OF THE YEAR TEN OUT OF TEN GARBLE GARBLE

HOLY SHIT SHE CAN CRAWL AND BEAM SWITCH.

MY CAPS LOCK ISN'T BROKEN, JUST MY BRAIN.

Will this be the final version?

Also, does this have all stages from Smash 64 and Melee, or are there some omissions?

Oh, and is it indeed possible to revert back to the Brawl versions of stages? I far prefer classic Hyrule Temple over the new, smaller, version.

1. No, according to the AMA there is still some stuff to improve.

2. Nope, it has some stages from different versions.

3. Just delete the file. Also I wonder if they can do a sort of an alternate loader where you hold shield and select the original version. We had something like that in place to load alterante characters for Brawl+ and BBrawl (holding shield I could select Zero instead of Link, but no Zero vs Link was possible)

Hyrule Temple is in it already, still, it's not gone. The new one (Skyloft) is also still in.

This doesn't have all the stages from 64 and Melee, no, due to the fact that they cannot be added to the Random Stage Select options without replacing existing stages.

And it's unlikely this will be the final version (there's no reason to not get it though, it's unlikely there will be a version released like... weeks later if things go smoothly).

Anyone know if something like Project M will be possible with the Wii U smash? Too soon to tell?

The Wii U has a SD slot which I believe is what makes Project M possible on the Wii, right?

Would need something like homebrew on it or an SD exploit, like twilight princess had, which made homebrew options possible.

Hackless method should still work (it uses an exploit on the stage editor to load gecko and get the game going)

I'm so excited for this (especially Turbo Mode haha), but I'm also sad that I'll have nobody to play with, despite being at a school where there's a lot of people who play Super Smash Bros. regularly and play the current version of Project M daily. Somebody said in an earlier post that competitive players can also play non-seriously, and I'd really like to know which competitive players that person has met, because the ones around here won't so much as even look at the item switch menu without complaining for twice the amount of time that they end up playing. -__-

You can't base a part of the community just off a few bad eggs you met.

Believe me, I don't, and I'm sorry that it came off that way. I'm sure there's plenty of people who will play the Smash Bros. games any which way... they're just not here. :/

I'm not a competitive smasher (never been in a tournament), but I find the game 10x fun when the items are off and its a 1v1/2v2 game. So me and my friends almost never turn them on.

True, but that's what I meant. They'd have to discover an exploit.

People have run all kind of stuff on the Wii side of the WiiU. I really doubt the stage editor exploit is gone. I can even find some youtube videos with Gamecube games running on the WiiU

I want to know who would volunteer to do Project M 3.0 OT!?! I'm pretty sure someone would like to do it?

Why don't you make it?

I know it might sound silly but I preferred SSB4 to be my first OT. Also I would like to point it out that I would rather to see someone else to make OT that fully understand and explain adv. techs way better than I can. Also it would be nice if someone would including advices how to get better with Project M.

Doesn't project M allow the use of items? What happens when you get the Smash Ball with Mewtwo or Roy? Sorry if this was answered in the trailer, I'm at work.

They have final Smashes. The only ones that do not have final smashes in DEMO 3.0 are Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard.

Project M 3.0 |OT| Put files on SD card, delete custom stages, done

Project M 3.0 is the latest version of the semi-popular Brawl mod that makes the game more like Melee and is scheduled for release on December 9th 2013.

Looks like Smash Bros. to me said:

The description for the mod reads:
http://projectmgame.com/en/about said:
Project M is a community-made mod of Brawl inspired by Super Smash Bros. Melee's gameplay designed to add rich, technical gameplay to a balanced cast of characters while additionally enhancing the speed of play. Project M employs new codes which seamlessly add in new, universal features to the entire cast to add technical variety to all characters.

Project M is playable on ANY NTSC Wii, without any hardware modification, and even without any longterm software modification. All that is needed to get started is an SD card and a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

Hey look a trailer

More like Melee means:

  • No tripping
  • Faster gameplay and more responsive controls
  • Mewtwo
  • Roy
  • No insta-kill stage hazards
  • If you wanna play competetively, wave dashing is possible
  • They also altered some characters movesets to make them more fun/interesting to play as

Playing competetively? ZOMG that means this mod is no fun!
I take it you don't play video games. It's perfectly fine to play this mod non-competetively, and it has more characters than Brawl anyway, which is the usual metric of fun for Smash Bros.

Mods are illegal! Nintendo will C&D this!
Yes, this can be a problem. If they actually do it. Which they haven't done for any of the gazillions of legal Brawl mods out there.

I don't want to brick my Wii.
You won't run any risk of that. This mod is a feat of engineering way above my head, here's what the official instructions say:
http://projectmgame.com/en/download said:
Please follow the instructions below. Note: The instructions are for Hackless method. If you're using a hacked method, simply extract the files to your SD card then boot Homebrew and select Gecko OS/Riivolution.

Delete any custom Brawl stage files on your Wii and SD Card! Don't assume that because you haven't made any there aren't any; 3 custom stages are included with a new savefile of Brawl.
Unzip the file and open the folder that comes out.
Move the contents of that folder to your SD Card.
Boot up Brawl and go to the Stage Builder.
Gecko OS will launch; select Launch Game.
You will see a straploader saying Project M Demo v2.6b. Additionally, if your menu image looks like the image below, then go ahead and play and enjoy Project M!

What is turbo mode?
They added a mode for 3.0 called turbo mode where you can do any move at any time. It looks like it is patently insane (and fun).

Where and how do I get this?
The mod files can be downloaded from the project homepage
http://projectmgame.com/en/download
The site has a bunch of info regarding the mod in general if you're interested in knowing more about specific changes.

Pichu when?

Opinions?

The lack of all of Braw's characters till this point made me not interested in Project M. But now... looks great! A lot of my friends don't like Brawl, but maybe now if we play Smash, we can play this instead.

Function over form.

A little skeletal, but gets the job done. No missing info, good for a laugh, only thing that irked me was the ZOMG. Took me back to my neckbeard fedora wearing days of Grade 9 through 11.

They were dark, dark days. Outside of that, I'd be proud to lurk and occasionally post in that OT.

Question about Project M: Can I play the game the way I played Melee? That is,

-99 lives
-Super Sudden Death
-Pokefloats
-Bob-oms only on Very high

?

Outside of Poke Floats, yeah, it's all feasible.

Personally my fun game was Team Item Chuck battles. Throwing/shooting items only, and two teams on either side of Peach's castle. Can't cross the middle tower.

Aside from Pokefloats, you could do this in Brawl. I don't think Pokefloats is implemented in Project M, either.

Brawlvault is down, but there is a "Pokefloats 2" someone made. Pokefloats is currently being made by someone as well.

Pokefloats 2

I made a stage that would work nicely with your Super Sudden Death and Bombs very high. It's a Bomberman stage.

It's skeletal because, well, it's for a mod. I can remove the ZOMG if people don't like it.
Now where's that OT reserving thread?

PokeFloats 2 seems like an admirable effort, but it just doesn't have the same presentation. Nice to hear the original PokeFloats is being remade, though. Thanks.
