Project Setsuna (I am Setsuna) coming to PS4 and Steam

But Koei Tecmo isn't releasing Nights of Azure on Vita either. Even if you disregard that and put the blame on the bad quality of Azure's Vita version -- the situation is exactly the same with Setsuna's Vita version, which also performs poorly.

They saw the demand and are actually still considering bringing the Vita version later, they haven't given a definitive "no" yet.

KT actually communicates with their fanbase.

Company that makes exclusively RPG's is scared to release RPG's and is somehow still not out of business.

How dare people be disappointed it's not coming to their console of choice!

It's not about that, it's about being grateful the game is coming in the first place. Meh, maybe I'm the only one who actually was not expecting this

No, usually I'd be agree with that stance, people shitting on games not coming to their platform.
The thing is, the game has been released on Vita in Japan... Cost wise, it'd be nothing to release it in West considering they'd make it dd only.

Now I wonder if its because of performance reasons. I heard the game ran bad on Vita.

Now that I've dealt with the shock of no Vita:

Yeah the name is garbage. Does not evoke "classic RPG" at all. Sounds like a walking simulator.

I still think "Legend of Setsuna" would've worked. "Legend of" is a great start for a "classic sounding" title, and isn't restricted to the LoZ series(Legend of Mana, Legend of Dragoon, The Legend of Legacy).

I can understand being disappointed the Vita version isn't coming over. I have a Vita too. But you have bother platforms it is coming out. I'll be getting it on PS4. Why don't you just get it on either of yours?

I'm travelling for 3 hours for my work everyday so Vita is the perfect platform for me. Additionally I prefer RPGs on portables, suspending any time I want and move around is a godsend.

Wasn't the point of Project Setsuna to start small and niche? I distinctly recall them saying during E3 that people want SE to make an original IP AAA RPG but for that to happen they need to start a fanbase small and grow it in scale and scope from there and project Setsuna is them doing it. By limiting their release and not putting faith into this release seems to hamper the original goal and creation of the studio in the first place. The website also links to an unofficial SE twitter account and an instagram link that doesn't work which shows how much the western branches care about this game.

I don't remember S-E being interested in growing a fanbase for this game. They just said that they'll look at it and see if it sells well, like every publisher.

Nah, Setsuna will do fine in the west. You might want to come back to my post in a year or two and laugh at how horribly wrong I was, but I think Setsuna will sell 100k+ on Steam alone (maybe not immediately, but eventually), which is great for the kind of low-budget game it is.

Well sure, after multiple steam sales. Most JRPGs can do that with this userbase and with just a brand behind (square-enix game!).

There is a huge chance that Vita version could outsell either Steam or PS4 version in west (not combined). Vita owners are unlike PS4 owners, they tend to buy more games, especially RPG's.

They should have checked Namco's and Tecmo Koei's game sales.

PS4 maybe, definitely not on steam.
Is there anything we can compare it to? Shoukd be easy enough for at least steamspy and mediacreate...

Already posted it in the last page, but now that I clicked the rest of the icons I wouldn't give that link any attention. Maybe they just copypasted something into it. Look at how the twitter icon redirects to a random account. I would love for a limited physical release to happen, tho.

Probably something they had in mind before going digital only. Guess it's nothing.

Unless you're on a potato quality PC, you can generally push past any Unity issues (multi threading, etc.) through sheer grunt.

Not really. Lots of Unity games have unfixable stuttering and general framerate problems.

It's all on the dev to optimize the game enough, not everything can be fixed by brute force.

PC version! (who needs vita after that?)
Don't be selfish. People usually prefer these type of games on Vita and there is already a version for it for Japan so not bringing it to the West is just a strange move.

Anyways, I am sad that it isn't coming to Vita but the long load times could have been a chore TBH. Will look into getting it on PS4.

Seems weird if this is digital only why not just take the extra effort and bring over the vita port as well unless there are extra issues with that version. Glad to see we're getting it soon hopefully the ce is for an actual retail disc and not just a code in a box :X day 1 either way very excited for Setsuna

Funny you link that, considering it shows that of the 15 square enix games made for the 3ds, only 6 of them have been localized in the west by square enix without outside help. If that's not afraid to release games then I don't know what is.

I don't think it's about courage, but profitability :p

Might be Steam Day 1, assuming it's not a messy port. Because surely it won't be this time, right?

... right? They can't mess it up, right?

Anyways, wonderful news. <3
