Project x Zone US demo Live on eShop

The camera is god-awful. Like, literally, this is some SNES-era stuff. You seriously can't freely rotate it?

Playing the demo and it's worse than I expected and I didn't expect a lot.

EDIT: Well okay it's not that bad.

I know it's going to be fun if I spend more time with it though.

Probably 5 uses because they realize that once people play it too much they'll realize it's total crap wrapped around pretty presentation just like Namco x Capcom and the OG Saga games. :(

Played through the demo. I liked the music and the 3D effects. But I don't have any idea what to do in battles other than mashing A+directions and use L or R when I can. I didn't really understand what limits how long I can attack. But I guess this will be more clear in the final game.
Did they mention what the second demo will be about? Just another battle?

I actually think you're doing this game too much of a favor. Endless Frontier was better than this. :\

so has anyone figured out how this game works yet?

Time the combos to juggle the enemies in the air because thats they only time they'll take real damage (if any at all)

Maybe throw in a support or two

Honestly? I'm not all that impressed. It seems neat but nothing is screaming "buy me"

So I "won" but I still have no idea what I did, it seemed like I just mashed buttons and sometimes my characters would unleash ultimate moves and sometimes they wouldn't. For whatever reason I was able to do an ultimate with the VP team 3 times, once with the .hack crew, but never with anyone else.

Someone who's played the Japanese version want to explain better?

Also like Duckroll said this game is going to get old fast the way the OG saga games did (or game as I only played the first one and zzz). That game was all about timing your cancels to get boost but this one seems to be about launching your attacks well with your solo and support attacks to do cross damage and that will just come from practice and playing the game.

What this demo made me realize is I need to play Sakura Wars cause I had no idea who those characters were or what they were talking about. Actually I guess I should add to my list

Shining Force EXA
God Eater
Sakura Wars
Resonance of Fate

Valkyria Chronicles series is also on my list of things to play, but I know enough about how that series works to get those characters lol

The 2nd demo (Demo B) is "Dark Hours" & takes place in a Ghosts 'n' Goblins stage. It has Chris/Jill, Dante/Demetri, X/Zero, Jing/Ling, and Yuri/Estelle.

Bahahah, 5 demos. I'll be stingy :(

I guess it's off-set by the fact that there'll be 2 or 3 demos iirc. I think the Japan demo has 3.

What the hell did I just play? I've got no idea what I'm doing but it seems fun and the sprite works is great. Title screen song is pretty rad too.

Its got Valkyria Chronicles 3 characters in it, too bad its not the original with Welkin and Alicia, but I'll take it.

This game seems really odd. The demo desperately needs a better tutorial than just giving you a bunch of text to read through.

Also, I'm super disappointed that they have full Japanese voice acting but couldn't be bothered to put the same effort into the localization and give us English voice acting. :/

Finished it but yeah i didn't know what I was doing either. I'm gonna need to give it another use to see if I can figure this out.

As expected, loved the demo. Cant wait to play the full game.

What I am doing is follow the combo sequence combination (?) that is above the life/Exp bar fo my characters. Which is usually normal A, right A and left A. It differs though, the Sakura team combo has one more input? I dont really know, maybe those are just the attacks available and its just there to show which one you already used? Maybe.

And the special attacks can only by used when you have 100% plus Exp. I was messing around with skills before battles but they use so much exp sometimes its better just save it for the ultimate from what I gathered. I may be wrong though.

Took a couple of battles, but I figured out that you need to time attacks at certain times to avoid the enemy bouncing & regaining their shield. & while I know I gotta time out my support/solo units in order to make the most use out of them by where the enemy is in order for them to get hit by most of the attacks, it's somehow awesome being able to see Ryu and Ken doin' Shoryukens and Hadokens while Kite & Black Rose go swinging their swords around while Ulala summons Space Harrier, Opa Opa, and the robot from Alien Storm fighting the villain from Sakura Wars.

To me, it's a much more involved, fanservicey version of something like Fire Emblem, & I'm fine with that.

Eventually all characters get to input 5 attacks, +1 more if you input all different attacks.

The battle system is really simple. Use one of each of your attacks to get another free attack and also make use of your assist and support character attacks and be sure to monitor your XP gauge for a paired unit's super attack or use it to counter enemy attacks, defend them for less damage, or full defense for negating damage completely.

Furthermore by pressing X you can bring up a menu to use items and character specific skills.

The B button of course will ask if you want to end a character's turn.

It's a lot to read but really simple in execution.

I really want to like this game since it's by Monolith and it has tons of great Capcom stuff in it but I can't get into it. I have no idea what I'm doing and the combat seems too complex for me. I'm not knocking the game or anything but I don't think it's for me.

I'd take anything as long as they'd stop doing these shoveled out games for Namco. They're better than this.

They won't stop though. The games are profitable and it's the same team making all of them. Considering the team was put together mostly to do exactly these days, right from the first game (Namco x Capcom), I'll say that no, they're not better than this. Not all staff in a developer are equal. :P

I'll rather have the crappy dudes making crappy games which I can easily avoid, rather than risking them working on projects which I might actually care about. Lol.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm having fun! I was planning to buy the game anyways. Gotta support those niche games that don't normally localized.
