PS Plus: Free Games for January 2017

Tried to get into This War of Mine but couldn't, the rest don't really interest me tbh. Another month which convinces me to not renew PS+ when it eventually lapses.

I guess those few good months in the middle of the year were exception to the norm and now we are back to the sad reality of PS+ post PS4 release.

Even if they don't want to commit to AAA games in PS4 section there shouldn't be much problems to release something good for Vita or PS3.

I'm going to miss The Last Guardian version being used.

Wow four PS4 games next month. The only one I have is day of the tentacle and I've been wanting to pick up this war of mine for awhile. For once I was saved by my backlog. I know people will bitch cause that's what they do but this is a real solid month.

That was back when PS+ was only about the games, though. Now it's online access on the PS4 in addition to the games. It's pretty apparent that Sony doesn't feel like they need to offer the same tier of AAA games they once did for this service. But that also doesn't mean that what they're currently offering is bad, it's just different, and it's time to accept that this is what PS+ is now.
Online access, the privilege of paying for P2P online which was free on PS3. Gee, thanks Sony.

I see the PS Plus Defence League™ are out in force. You like indie games, that's fine. We get it.

Most of the people who have been subbed since the PS3 though did so because every month had games like Demon's Souls, Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite and Uncharted 3.

Maybe if enough people stop subscribing to PS+ because of their dissatisfaction at the kinds of games being offered Sony will see fit to put more of the famous blockbuster kind of games you're looking for.

Full lineup:

Day of The Tentacle Remastered, PS4 (Cross buy on PS Vita)
This War of Mine: The Little Ones, PS4
Blazerush, PS3
The Swindle, PS3 (Cross Buy on PS4 and PS Vita)
Azkend 2, PS Vita
Titan Souls, PS Vita (Cross Buy on PS4)

Man, when was the last time it wasn't some small indie game on PS4? :/ I swear PS3 had higher profile picks back in the day. Xbox Gold definitely does.

I don't have Day of the Tentacle I don't think at least. Neat I guess.

That's totally not true.

The first years of PSPlus were the same (if not worse), we didn't get a retail release until Tomb Raider Underworld, almost 2 years after the launch of the PSPlus (on December on 2011) and we even got months in which some games were repeated. PS Plus hit it's strides until the IGC was announced on the E3 2012 (When we got Infamous, LBP2, Just Cause 2, Contra HardCops Uprising, etc).

I won't discuss the quality of the games, but let's not pretend that PSPlus on PS3 was of month after month of AAA games since the beginning.

Really good selection this month, but I'm sure people will complain because none of these games have a multimillion dollar budget

Already have Titan Souls and it's really good, but I have little to no interest in the rest.

I can't remember the last time I actually downloaded something and finished it from this service. Not because the games are indie or bad, they're just not for me.

At this point I'm just keeping my subscription to play Titanfall 2 online.

There are many people who pay for Netflix just because of its shows.

Oh please, Netflix's selection has been getting weaker and weaker every month for the same reason PS+ has been, more people are paying for it and licensing fees are getting more expensive. It's all about convenience.

October. (Resident Evil and Transformers: Devastation).

Yeah I downloaded Resident Evil. Isn't it like $20 full price though? That's not really what I was talking about, but sure, props to October for not being a month if shit I've never heard of. Felt like an outlier this year.

Luckily I'm currently subscribed for reasons other than the free PS+ games otherwise I'd be more disappointed than I am currently.

Maybe February will have better offerings.

Back when people got PS+ for the games. Now people get it because MP is held hostage.

Every time I find the PS+ section now I always end up missing PS3 PS+. I wish they'd just cut the price of the online subscription and ditch the games at this point, I don't think I've played one since Outlast.

Great line up! I don't own any of those and they all sound interesting. Well, I own DOTT on cd-rom somewhere in a box but I do not have the remastered. It's time for a replay!

Resident Evil/Transformers is some small indie game now because of the price?

I swear these PS+ games get more and more obscure every month.

They really do. If I didn't play online all the time, I certainly wouldn't pay to get what they're offering. I rarely complain about plus, but it's to the point where I don't even download what they're offering because I know I'll never want to play it.

Glad I didn't buy Day of the Tentacle earlier this month.

No. They're only asking for what they had on PS3, which is fairly reasonable.

Right, if multiplayer was free like it was on PS3 I'd unsub instantly. Even when the games were better it was like "Big game I didn't care enough to buy when it came out"

The paid multiplayer is the only reason I sub now.

Even though I own a vita, I think it's time to stop offering vita games and do something innovative with those two game slots. Maybe one psvr game, and maybe one free psnow rental? Using a free rental on psnow might get people more interested in it.

There's two games here I want to play (This War of Mine and Titan Souls) but I understand people who aren't particularly happy with the offerings lately. Can't remember the last time a PS+ lien up got me truly excited.

I just realized PS+ is the only paid subscription in my life and I don't even really need it.

Context: I just bought 2 years in advance
