PS Plus: Free Games for January 2017

Is Titan Souls some kind of Dark Souls and Shadow of the Colossus combination in 2D?That's the only one that slightly interests me.

Resident Evil/Transformers is some small indie game now because of the price?

Didn't Xbox users get Sunset Overdrive? I don't get why we can't get something like that when we're paying just as much.

Idk about Transformers, I never played it, didn't grow up with Transformers so I don't really care about the series. Resident Evil is a (REALLY REALLY GREAT) PS1 game made better. It's not the same.

Killzone Shadowfall, Knack, Last of Us Remastered, GOW III Remastered, The Order 1886, etc... So many 1st party games they could release that would make sense but haven't..

Not only that but games like Wolfenstein, Shadow of Mordor, Far Cry 4, etc would also make sense.

Not sure why they have completely departed from their PS3 strategy with PS+
Maybe third party publishers don't want to give their games away on PS Plus. Besides, I think Plus is fantastic for small indie devs that don't get the exposure and funds they would otherwise.

Bought dott on sale a while back and haven't played it yet. I just stopped buying indie games because it's all PS plus offers now

You should get a 50$ game in January to make up for your 60$ payment, that's the only reasonable way to aproach this situation.
/s

A price tag shouldn't be indicative of a games value, nor should the fact of them being indies.

They really do. If I didn't play online all the time, I certainly wouldn't pay to get what they're offering. I rarely complain about plus, but it's to the point where I don't even download what they're offering because I know I'll never want to play it.

Yeah I downloaded Resident Evil and like one other thing this entire year. :/ I just pay for the cloud saves and online.

I really just don't care about indies anymore. I became that guy I guess.

I will second the votes for The Swindle. Really great game.

Never noticed the PS4 version being broken, however. Only the PS Vita version. I tweeted at Curve Digital asking if they'd patched it to optimize better for the PS Vita. The developer (@danthat) said any patching was up to Curve when I asked a couple of months ago...

I get the feeling like some people would rather get an old AAA that can be had for $5 to $10 at retail rather than get a $15 or $20 digital game that is rarely discounted significantly.

I'd be happy with something like gravity rush. They already gave it out in Japan. With 2 coming out, it certainly wouldn't hurt. Instead, I get a remaster of a 90s game.

I think people just want to see PS+ compete with Xbox Games For Gold service more.

They're already competing. Games with gold has been a mess too overall. Death trap and Killer instinct next month...

Both companies need to straighten up. Gold has been slightly better, but not by much.

You're getting a remaster of a fantastic 90s game, rather than a remaster of a bang average game from a couple of years ago.

They're paying customers yet they're getting free games?

Ok - who are paying $60 for 72 games a year.

I just realized PS+ is the only paid subscription in my life and I don't even really need it.

Context: I just bought 2 years in advance

I bought 2 year too since I found it €10 cheaper than normal, €39 instead of €49
and I have hardly touched my PS4 or Vita in almost a year...

Jokes on me

Lo siento, but I personally didn't buy my ps pro to play 90s point and click remasters.

I've never been so salty about plus, but the games have been wack.

Awesome, Titan Souls has been languishing on my wishlist since PSN wishlists were introduced. I could never bring myself to pull the trigger, and now I don't have to!

PS+ sub is ending soon and months like this don't make me regret letting it go.

edit: Ends on January 20th. Good riddance.

Sure. I personally didn't buy my ps pro to play 90s point and click remasters. Lo siento.

Instead you bought it to complain about the games you get as part of a service every month? If you want GR remastered why don't you just buy it?

People would be better off thinking about these games as supplementary to the cost of playing online - 72 games over the course of a year is pretty damn good - even if you'd all rather play some AAA garbage.

I think PS+ stands in a gray area. The indie games they offer are good and fun but they could offer some good AAA games.

tldr; I don't feel like complaining but I know that it could be a little better.

A service that used to give $60 games (Demons Souls, Tomb Raider, Bioshock infinite, God of war ascension, king of fighters xiii) every month when it was $10 cheaper
VS
A service that is now $10 more expensive that offers cheap $5-$20 games that are always on sale (whether they're good or not isn't the point) that not as many people care about.

The value just isnt the same. Its now required for online play. Im gonna renew my sub for this reason even though I couldn't care less about the "free" games being offered. Sony knows this. People can complain. It's not entitlement. You're allowed to not like something, especially when it used to be good but now sucks.

To be honest, I never really complained about it since I brought the OG ps4, so you're talking out of your rear on that one. Also, I'm not going to be made to feel sorry for complaining about a service I pay for. I don't like their games output. If that's a major issue for you, then feel free to keep a scrolling right by my posts.

I got till February and with my Playstation slowly becoming a singleplayer only machine.....it seems its time to drop the sub.....it hasn't been great overall in the last year. 2k16 was great.....but I already owned it. Plus an increase in price.....meh.....I don't need it.

I'm happy for the people who like/ are interested in these games, but I do miss the original PS+ days when the value was just outstanding for what you got. I'm sad they've moved away from that. I still think it's "acceptable" value (even though I haven't touched a PS+ game since Rocket League), but it was a shrewd move to hook so many people in with incredible value in the PS3 days and then slowly drip-feed less popular titles to make their money back.

I got the original Gravity Rush for Vita on PS+. And all the Crash Bandicoot games. And a bunch of FF games. ACIII, DX:HR, etc. The calibre of games they're offering has really dramatically decreased.

Maybe I'll replay Tentacle someday, it's been a while. Other than that, I haven't even kept up with last month, still have Stories, Color Guardians and Hyper Void to play.

This right here. I agree 100%
But that doesn't mean the indie games they offer are bad, they are good and sometimes fantastic, but the value of the free games decreased.

Decent line up for me.
I tend to buy the triple A's I want so indies on Plus are fine with me as I'd probably never buy them so I'm happy I get to try them out.

Consumers as a group are idiots, but they're not THAT stupid. If they're truly not happy with what the service provides in terms of extra promotions on games and the complimentary games every month, then they won't buy into the service.

Also, like... At the end of the day, gaming is still a luxury hobby. And if you don't have 5 bucks per month to literally piss away, then you probably shouldn't be buying video games to begin with.

Anyway, love the line up. Had my eye on This War of Mine for a while.

It's your prerogative to dig through every thread and find receipts if you want but I've literally never complained about it until now.

I always wanted to try Day of The Tentacle Remastered and This War of Mine (saw a few other posts here that it's the full version plus the DLC), so this is a nice month for me.

I'll play Titan Souls. Maybe DotT. Don't know what the rest are, but they don't seem that interesting to me from quickly looking them up.

Okay I guess, pretty meh.

My PS+ does not expire until June, so I will ride it on out and just let it lapse again. The only reason I even signed back up was so I could play ESO, but since they increased the price and kept the low quality of offerings the same, even that cannot justify it for me anymore. There is no reason for me to keep paying for it at all.
