PS Plus: Free Games for September 2015

stfu doesn't have cross save? Great, now I have to stick to playing it on ps4 only and letting my precious vita rot to death.

/Overly dramatic

Finished Xeodrifter a few minutes ago. I really liked the game; it's on the short side, but i really liked exploring the planets and finding secrets. When they announced the games for this month, it was the one i was less interested in. It turned out to be the one i enjoyed the most.

Grow Home should be renamed to
Screen tearing:the game.
Horrible. I was excited for this title, its almost unplayable.

I haven't experienced tearing once. Clearly a ton of people are but it hasn't been an issue in my playthrough. There was only one instance of the frame rate plummeting but after that it never happened again.

I finally got around to trying the game and there is indeed a lot of tearing. It's not unplayable but it's very apparent. I have my Sony Bravia set to Game Mode too, which turns off the post-processing. Are you playing on a plasma per chance?

I really enjoyed Xeodrifter! Sure, it's a short game and could use more enemy and boss variety, but it was a fun take on Metroid while also adding some new ideas. I'd definitely buy a Xeodrifter 2.

I'm really enjoying it too, about two hours in so far. I like the way the power ups are largely different ideas to Metroid, and the way you can modify the gun.

I also kinda like the way you keep fighting the same boss as he adds new moves, it means you gradually learn a wide variety of his attacks, and makes the later battles fairly epic.

One of the best PS+ games this year for me so far.

I've had a great time with Grow Home. The screen tearing was disappointing at first but you get used to it. Plus it helps if you don't move the camera around too much.

Just finished xeodrifter, that was great, a shade under three hours but it seems easily doable in one. Didn't outstay it's welcome, had a few nice ideas, and gameplay was nice and fast. Needed a bit more enemy variety though . By the end I felt quite sorry for the nemesis creature, poor thing!

I thought I was the only one.

STFU is growing on me, it reminds me of TWEWY in the sense that I don't always consciously understand why I'm doing things but seem to be able to get by on instinct.
If nothing else I like pixel art and the main character looking a bit like Jeremy Corbyn.

This sounds overly harsh but I don't understand the point in Xeodrifter as it seems so average, however it's not really my genre (I really enjoyed Guacamelee though).

I'll have to readjust my expectations with La Mulana as I didn't get off to a good start. In my head I had linked it to Spelunky so it's Amiga style platforming threw me off and then I lost an email that explained what the weights are all about. It's one I'll have to go back to.

Really enjoying STF. I have the two BC stages left; I am not sure what happens afterwards. Gameplay is a lot tighter than I expected.

I just started playing Teslagrad today and I have to say its a really great wee platformer. Some of the ideas for the way you can use the electric current to enhance the platforming is ingenious.

I'm new to the Playstation 4. I actually purchased the Destiny bundle about 5 days ago. My question is, do you need PS+ to play your games online? Is it like Xbox Live? I had a PS3 beforehand, but that was free to play online.

yes you need PS+ to play online except for a select few MMOs

As far as I know you don't need PS+ for multiplayer in free-to-play games, asynchronous multiplayer (like player ghosts and challenges in DriveClub, autolog, etc.), or "mingleplayer" like Destiny's public and social spaces that populate the area with other players.

You will need it for standard multiplayer modes, and in Destiny for PVP, strikes, the raid, etc.

Thank for the response. It looks like there's great incentives to have it anyway, with free games and all. Do they do free games every month?

Yes.

PS+ gives you 2x Vita, 2x ps3, 2x ps4 games every month.

Some months actually give you more than 2 ps4 games in situations where cross-buy applies across platforms (eg - a PS Vita game that is crossbuy enabled with the ps4 version).

Really wish I had a knack for guessing these things, but I don't, so the wait continues.

I still haven't played any of last month's PS+ games. They just didn't look all that interesting to me, especially with MGSV and Wolfenstein to play.

Please, stop talking about october games in this topic. There is a ps+ topic in the community section for that

This isn't very consistent. You need PS+ to see the player messages in Bloodborne.

Just assume that if a game isn't free to play, you need Plus for its online features.

How do we know about super meat boy? People have been talking about it being one of tje games, but has it been confirmed anywhere?

Free games every month. But don't forget to "buy" them from the store which will add the game to your account. If you don't go through that step of purchasing them, then you won't be able to download them after each month is done. If you do, you can download them any time as long as you still have PlayStation Plus. So when the new games are available each month, just hope onto the PlayStation Store on your phone or PC and add the games to your cart and then purchase them. It will be free. And you don't have to download the games right away if you don't want to. Using the website is the easiest option in my opinion instead of using the store on the system. You should also add all the free games even if you don't own a PS3 or Vita because you might get one in the future.

Oh…and we almost forgot: It’s going to be free on PlayStation Plus at launch. That’s our way of saying “Thank you for waiting patiently” to all those PlayStation fans that reached out to us over the years only to get back a “we can’t do it, sorry” response. We love you guys and girls and we’re so happy that you can finally play Super Meat Boy on your system of choice!

Can't get more confirmed than on the Playstation Blog.

Edit: Goddamnit!

Just beat STFU. Loved it, only issue was that it was really easy. Only ever pushed for time on the last boss. Another minor issue was that because of the way you got allies, I never used two of them because it was so close to the end of the game.

But loved it. Really fun.

The frame rate was pretty damn low every time the camera pointed into a distance. When I went for the grow 50 vines trophy the framerate must have been below 20.

Still loved the shit out of the game. But yeah, I don't think the game was very well tuned to PS4 hardware.

I'd love The Escapists, but it would be a bit of a piss take as it's just been on sale for 40% off here in Europe.

I think it's too soon for The Swindle. Maybe in 3-4 months.

Only Europe? Well the same was with Luftrausers. 50% off in Europe. 2 Weeks later on PS+.

Seems like they dont give a shit.
