PS Vita game price drop bomba before release

I think it depends on how high end these games REALLY are, and how willing consumers are to pay it. Resident Evil Revelations sounds high end enough to justify it, even if it may be more due to cart costs, but if we see crap like Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume being charged $50 yet not really offering much for that extra price point (or CUTTING features what the hell) I can see it blowing up.

So remember when the games were gonna be $30? Not anymore!

What is the MSRP for WipEout 2048? I am wondering because some places like Amazon is selling for $30 but Gamestop has it for $40

Michael Pulst:
$39.99 is the MSRP Wario64.

Gamestop and Sonysyle raised the price to $40. Woo! Hot Shots Golf is $40 too!

Wow. I was ok with the tiered pricing, but now there are only two tiers, expensive and more expensive. I guess they didn't want to have a disparity between their pricing and the third party pricing.

Make up your mind, Sony!

Preorder on Amazon before it's to late!

I've noticed that even Amazon UK has Ridge Racer Vita for ÂŁ17.99. Even though it will come out later next month.

$50 for Uncharted is just ... insane. Sony really need to open their eyes and see they're going to be in for a tough ride as it is, doing this makes zero sense. It's like they want Vita to fail.

Sony will get their harsh wakeup call on the software pricing front soon enough.
In the meantime, I'm just happy to be getting Uncharted for $0, Wipeout for $25, Hot Shots for $25 and BlazBlue for $35.

Come on, Sony. I've got an Uncharted preorder at $39.99, and Wipeout & Hot Shots at $29.99, but I'm still pissed.

Hey man it was 39.99 for the longest. You're a gamer on GAF so you can't say you din't know, so cry in my cup if you want.

Ok Amazon is the only one has it priced $10 more correct?
Amazon had it for $39 for the longest correct?
You're all gamers who from your post are interested in VITA correct?
Companies will do as they please no matter how much you bitch.
There was ample time to get your preorder in and cancel at the last moment if you so wish without a charge.
Plus all the noise and yet its still $39 other places.

Ha ha ha ha, moron

If the game has a high budget (like RE Revelations may), then I could see why it may cost more. They aren't going to price cheap if a game cost a lot to develop.

As for the Wipeout costing $40 now, they may see it as having more content as ModNation Racers, hence the higher pricetag. I already preordered at a cheaper price anyway.

My crazy conspiracy theory, essentially every single Sony game is $10 more than whats been the assumed MSRP because every single one of those games is $10 cheaper for Digital. So it looks like you're getting a deal when in reality they just jacked up the MSRP prices on all their games and of course makes you more likely to pony up for a large memory card, so Sony wins either way.

The prices should be fixed already. Its kind of embarrassing that nothing is really settled in at this point.

That theory had crossed my mind actually. MSRP is just a suggested price, not the lowest price.

I preordered both Hot Shots Golf and Wipeout at $30, but I really intended to buy them digitally. Lame.

I cancelled my Uncharted order, and went w/ HSG instead, and a Hori carrying case.

Will wait for a Wario Bomba for Uncharted at $30, two weeks after launch.

would be nice if that was the case. I want to go digital only. but we'll see.

The difference is that Uncharted is first party and supposedly the system seller. At this point Sony is trying to sell the hardware, not the software. Charging $50 for their flagship game conflicts directly with their goals. Imagine if Nintendo tried to charge $50 for Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart; the budgets may or may not justify it, but strategically it would be stupid.

$50 dollar handheld games are ridiculous. Period. Especially in a market where people can download .99 cent games on their phone.

So wait, it's going to be cheaper to get digital over physical now? Is Sony actually offering an incentive to not go physical?

My God.

Those are some rediculous prices, uncharted in particular. The price itself is way too high, the fact they only put their B teams to work on the handheld versions doesn't really help either.

I think sony and to a lesser extent nintendo are in for a big wake up call regarding handheld game prices.

I get that, however fifty dollar games are just TOO EXPENSIVE for handhelds. The value proposition just isn't there.

Oh, I agree. I think they need to take a hard look at the business model and find ways to drive down costs ASAP.

I just don't think the U.S. market is going to support $40 - $50 portable games that son't have "Mario" or "pokemon" in the title.

Are we going to see some of those 99 cent games hit PSN? Or will they end up costing us $5-10 like Angry Birds or Plants vs Zombies?

At current (ridiculous) strength-of-the-yen prices, MSRP for 3DS and PS Vita games is over $75 here.

Count your blessings :-)

No, but seriously, I have no idea why Sony hasn't established anything yet. Madness.

I would never pay $50 for a handheld game, and I don't even want Uncharted, but I would sooner buy it than 50 .99 cent handheld games.

Portable games have always been vastly overpriced. If portables games were sold at $40 to $30 on average before for underpowered, obsolete hardware then $49.99-$29.99 game prices for something comparable to PS3 isn't even slightly surprising.

What did you guys want? These companies have to maximize profits before the iPhone takes over handheld gaming and makes them obsolete.
