PS3 and Wii are 6 years old

I've said several times why the timing for a new console this year is perfect. After 6 years, everybody is ready for a new console.

Good times.

I remember being one of the first (but not the very first) to have a PS3 die and starting the official unofficial thread of "My PS3 died and I'm trying to live to tell the story" thread.

It was picked up by several gaming blogs and I had my three seconds of internet fame. lol

And to this day, the PlayStation 3 has been my only console this entire generation. My gamble paid off, because just about every exclusive that the 360 got, eventually came to the PS3 in some shape or form. Dead Rising didn't come, but we got the sequels. Alan Wake still hasn't come, but I'll get it when I build my gaming PC within the next month or two.

This generation has gone on too long for me, so I'm going to PC, but still keeping my PS3 for The Last of Us and if The Last Guardian ever releases. ; ;

For me I remember that time just wanting to play both systems badly but didn't have the opportunity to since I was moving to Japan at the time, so all my money was going to my move. I remember how hard it was to get a Wii back in the states at the time, and I never actually saw one during or just after launch. But shortly into 2007 on my first day back in Japan I easily found one and bought it on the spot. For PS3 I regret always walking by those launch units and all and not getting one at that time, as I really wanted the PS2 BC. In the end I ended up getting one in late 2008 and pretty much it became my most played system. The excitement of that hardware launch was quite fun.

Does anybody remember Sony saying at the start of the generation that they wouldn't pay for third-party exclusivity of games? I'm really glad they did that. They invested that money into creating a ton of great first-party games. I really hope MS stops the business model of depending on third party games and buying exclusive games and timed-DLC exclusive rights. It helps nobody.

I still have a lot of fond memories playing Resistance every Friday with a bunch of people from forums and Gaf. Those were the times...i'm impressed that Resistance and Motorstom still holds up to this date.

Yes, probably the best decision Sony have made in the past six years. The first/second party output on PS3 is incredible. Sony made most of my favorites this generation, they weren't even close to that on past consoles.

That first year the PS3 was out was awesome. Everyone stupid enough to pay $600 for the thing($660 in Canada) was part of a cool kids club that everyone else was missing out on.

Every night we'd alternate back and fourth Resistance and Motorstorm multiplayer. I never had more fun gaming then back then.

*fist bump of awesomeness*

I just finished retiring the ol' Wii system by putting it aside to make room for the Wii-U

It got sentimental for a moment

Then I started to extract the core add-ons to use on the new system

Cold-blooded
