PS3 Blu-ray issues (help plz)

When i run my blu-ray of casino royale i get a faint purple scan horizontal line move up the screen in a few sections of the movie. its rare and very very faint but detectable once you notice it. I haven't bought any other blu-rays and i have not noticed it on the dvd playback.

it only happens in certain scenes (one in perticular is the dinner scene right after bond wins all the money in the poker game).

Is this a disc problem, a ps3 problem, or a settings in the ps3 menu problem?

any help is appreciative, please refrain from blu-ray vs hd-dvd discussion.

I have casino too, and i use the Ps3 as my BR player, never happened to me.

Go to the store, and say the movie comes on a badly manufactured copy, at least make them test the movie on some BR player they have at the store. Then see what happens.

It's probably the cable. Maybe the film is refreshing too quickly, so make sure your firmware is updated and has the 24hz option selected. I'll google around to help.

Just found something about 'purple scan lines' that move up the screen.

The person was using component cables too, 720p res.

Those are hum bars caused by a ground loop. This can be a pain to fix. Go to wikipedia and pull up "ground loop" it will give you more detail. Basically your av system is being grounded by two seperate sources, usually the wall socket via PS3 3 prong plug and the coax cable tv cable which is causing voltage feedback thru your av cables to the tv. Well anyway, you need to have everything connected to the same ground, the easiest way is to buy a surge protector with catv coax protection/connectors as it will hopefully ground the catv coax to the same ground as the PS3. Good luck.

Also try moving the PS3 further from your ps3 too.

We share the same situation (PS2 component, HDMI waiting for me in the mail)... I don't have purple bars though!
