PS3 Downloadable Games Release Thread

If fairness to jarrod, he was only pointing out that issues with that kindof control for Katamari had been discussed. And in fairness to everybody else, not everybody in a SOny-centric thread will have read Wiimote threads (like me, for instance). What were the concerns?

I would think tilt controll would be best for katamari... why would you need a pointer? sixaxis or wiimote would work fine.

he comes clean! SIXAXIS = Wiimote total. Thank you, kind sir. :p
I asked kindly at the top of the thread not to turn this into a vs. thing, whether in jest or otherwise.

What coming clean... you're the one who proclaimed Katamari seeming "idyl for SIXAXIS control". And actually you're also the one proclaining "SIXAXIS = Wiimote total".

No, thank you, kind sir. :P

no, no, no if you'll refer back to your original reply to my original post, you brought the Wii into the discussion... and many were of the mind that anything SIXAXIS can do Wiimote can do better, thus SIXAXIS /= Wiimote, right? Maybe, not? lol And Katamari's original controller is the DualShock, and PS3's DoalRock is the same fit only with the added bonus of "shake." So, why not? I mean Katamari on Wii is a giant leap, to a whole nother platform. Playstation is Katamari's home. :p

sorry, kaching. I blame jarrod, personally. :D

But I'm not blaming jarrod because I didn't take his original comment to mean anything more than this: the use of motion controls had already been discussed in relation to KD gameplay and found insufficient for the task, it just happened to be in the context of a previous Wii controller discussion.

but my point was that I had always thought SIXAXIS and Wiimote are very different, so why bring it up, at all? I think SIXAXIS fits for Katamari on account regardless of whether or not motion control was "found insufficient for the task" what would be the harm in giving it a try, when that's the only issue being trucked around?

again, sorry!

I was trying to download NBA 07 demo earlier but an error appeared like half way through. Tried it again and it restarted at 0%. WTF? You can't resume?

Thanks for the compliment.

But unfortunately I can't lay claim to being a designer on GripShift, I'm merely the Executive Producer, which means I don't contribute very much of anything. Andy Satterthwaite is the Producer/Designer for both GripShift PSP and GripShift DLX PS3.

Anyway, there should be some screens of GS DLX out soon. Hopefully within the next week, when we may have a better indication of a date also.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

I wonder how much Gripshift will be. If it's $6 like the other games, it'll be a ****ing steal.

I don't know why some people complain about the downloading speed.
From my location, downloading a 600MB takes just under 15 minutes, an system update takes under 3 minutes.
It is super fast to me.

It won't be that cheap, unfortunately. But given how much content is in the game, the price points that are being talked about are still very good value for money (in my biased opinion).

So not $6, but I can see you really mean $10. Right? I hope.

Anyone else just get Lemmings for $2.99 US?

OMG I just played the Genji demo. It has to be one of the worst games ever. I'm so glad I didn't buy that turd.

Ha, so even with a $4 game us Canadians are still getting the short end, not that it's a big deal or anything. :lol

Hopefully they'll be consistent with this and only charge a buck more for the "big" games, like Tekken.

Yeah, $2.99 for me.

BUT

the lowest amount it would let me add to my virtual wallet was $5, so now I have $2.01 sitting over ^^;

Man, genji 2 would be so much cooler with a better camera system. Graphics are pretty good, gameplay is pretty good, but the camera kills it imo. It might be me, but I think the camera is worse than the genji 1 camera. :x

Atleast thats what I felt like after the demo.

Lemmings and Sudoku will be bought for sure though. :D

The slowdown hurts too. :\

Yeah I noticed that as well. Funny because I think it's caused by the crap camera system. If it was more zoomed out, it seems like it would be smoother. Instead, the camera is like right in front of your character and you can't see the other guys around you.

Genji 2 had a lot of potential... :(

What level did they put up in the demo? Not planning on d/ling since I've been through the game already.

I can't believe Lemmings is $2.99...

$6 would be a bargain for Gripshift, especially if you guys deliver on downloadable levels from the network. Any price below $15 is good price imo. Can't wait to see the screenshots

The one with the waterfall, and the battleground with the orange lighting and smoke going up in the air. The graphics are pretty impressive, and I like the gameplay, its just the camera I have a problem with. Does the retail game have any slow down?

Yeah I know right, theres gotta be a problem somewhere with that price. It's a steal! Better buy it now before they fix it. :p

Right now it looks like the full game is gone from the store. At least here, the only thing left up is the demo, so they may be already correcting it.

Lemmings is still up for me. Let's see if I can buy it...

Yup, I could: UP9000-NPUA80012_00-LEMMINGS00000001-UG01 Lemmings™ Downloadable Game (Full Game) $3.99

Any chance that Sony might charge the extra $3 later?

I don't think so, since the system seems to be set up so you need to put the money into your wallet before Sony can "take it."

Not that they would've done it anyway.

OMG!!! why isn't Genji II as cool as Genji I??? they butchered it

I played the Genji I demo and loved it and bought the game and had fun with it.

BUT, now I downloaded Genji II and WTF did they do? it's almost unplayable now!! What's up with the camera now being so close to you?? before you had more of an Onimusha type camera view and you were smaller on screen so you could see the enemies.

Now forget about it, the camera is too close to your ass, I can't see sh*t!!!

to all the naysayers... you were right.. you were right... tell your sister: you were right.

in contrast to Genji I, I'm NOT buying Genji II!!! thank you for demos!

It's too bad that Blast Factor and Cash Guns Chaos are supposedly mediocre. There is a lot of missed opportunity there. Thank God for Lemmings. I hope it's still $2.99 whenever I get my PS3!
