PS3 Downloadable Games Release Thread

It's too bad that Blast Factor and Cash Guns Chaos are supposedly mediocre. There is a lot of missed opportunity there. Thank God for Lemmings. I hope it's still $2.99 whenever I get my PS3!
Blast Factor is fun shit. Cash Guns Chaos on the other hand...not so much.

OMG!!! why isn't Genji II as cool as Genji I??? they butchered it

I played the Genji I demo and loved it and bought the game and had fun with it.

BUT, now I downloaded Genji II and WTF did they do? it's almost unplayable now!! What's up with the camera now being so close to you?? before you had more of an Onimusha type camera view and you were smaller on screen so you could see the enemies.
I feel the same way. Demo's wise (yeah i played the genji 1 demo too), Genji 1 owns it.

How does Blast Factor compare to Geometry Wars, and more importantly, Mutant Storm? I loved and played the hell out of both games.

If you are good at Geo Wars you'll be good at Blast Factor. I like both although I prefer Geo Wars, the added mechanics in Blast Factor I dont particularly care for. I don't know about Mutant Storm, I didn't buy it.

I downloaded Lemmings (full game, wich is absolute awesomeness) and the Genji demo as well, but I'm not able to download Sudoku for some reasons... anybody here have it?

Now forget about it, the camera is too close to your ass, I can't see sh*t!!!

to all the naysayers... you were right.. you were right... tell your sister: you were right.

in contrast to Genji I, I'm NOT buying Genji II!!! thank you for demos!

Animations are WAY too long, and too much lag between moves, and no cancels, oh gawd, thanks for bringing back the pain btw. I'll still have to finish the game eventually though since I did buy it afterall. Why they wasted the right stick for dodging when R1+X does the same stupid thing I have no idea, it could have been used for camera control, and it's not like they built half the level or something like in GoW because sometimes the camera shows the other side of the wall. And yes, they murdered and then mutilated the kamui system. They could have just upgraded the graphics of Genji 1 and kept everything else and it would have been a semi-winner.

wow. lemmings in HD on the PS3 is the mother****in shit. this game is mad sexy. 2.99? shit, count me in. i haven't played this since the early 90s or something so the visual upgrade is awesome. oh yea, and the gameplay rocks just like it always has.

okay, so i go to purchase lemmings and it looks like the minimum $ amount you can add to your account is $5.00. goddamnit, and here i thought sony wasn't pulling any little tricks like MS. guess what boys and girls, if you're looking to spend less than $5 at the playstation store, you have no choice but to add $5 to the account. boooo.

I'll take that over the points bs.

At most you'll have $5 stuck waiting to spend. Ever.

Ok fine I'll download it now, this better be as good as you say it is.

The purchasing is quick and that includes adding money to the wallet, but damn couldn't they have added some elevator music or something to the store? :P

Yeah, very disappointing. But I still bought it anyway. I guess I'll use the remaining $2 to get a PSOne game in the future (once Devhook can play PSone games)

How can you complain about a couple of dollars? I mean really!?

I'm not complaining at all :)

I'm just saying that the systems are exactly the same on all three systems and it doesn't bother me at all. I bought 5000 Wii points and 5000 360 points just to use when I feel like getting something.

I thought the beef with the 360 and Wii systems was the price obfuscation. In any case, no big deal. At least at amounts over $5 you can add the exact amount.

You sure? I can only add $5, $10...etc.?

It's a lot more like Mutant Storm than Geo Wars. Things are level-based and there's a conclusion instead of going on endlessly. I feel there could've been a little more enemy variety in BF, though, but it does try a few different things:

-branching levels, depending on how well you do, you can move up to the harder "cells" or remain stuck in the easier ones

-use of the repulsor power and the ability to tilt the controller to send a "wave" across the playing field that sweeps enemies to one side; helpful for getting out of a pinch but both techniques are also necessary for clearing certain types of enemies

Yeah, when I paid for Lemmings, I bought the Medium pack for Go Sudoku and it came to $5.98. It let me add that exact amount to my wallet.

I see - that is an improvement over the 360 and Wii. However, I think they should've used points and even dollar amounts. It's just cleaner and simpler, plus it's a lot easier to spend them that way :)

Thanks for the BF impressions!

WTF is wrong with the Sudoku download.. the "download" button just don't appear. There's an ad I can click on but nothing happens.. and it's not up in the demo\downloadable games sections.

you can add the exact amount but it is a $5 minimum I found.

Blast Factor has grown on me. There's multiple layers to the scoring system that gives you incentive to keep aiming for better scores even on the easier levels.

It's the issue of the interest free loan to these companies based on points/money that remain sitting in your account with them because you can't exactly spend down to zero. Up to this point it seemed like it wasn't going to be an issue with the PS Store, but this minimum $5 PS Wallet infusion introduces it. When do you think they're ever going to offer some content for $2.01 or a combination of things that equals that amount?

Give me actual dollar amounts over points anyday.

Lemmings at difficulty FUN, first map I'm #3 right now (no doubt five guys in the next minute will push me out of the top 10), I can't break the gosh darn 54 sec barrier!!!

so how you liking it? i find myself replaying the levels just to increase my rankings... though what's up w/ the extreme loading when you try and view your friends ranks?

It's frustrating being #3. Ivana Bee #1.

I can see myself obsessing over rankings by replaying the same junk over and over again, and again, and again, and again. I guess it's addictive that way.

Heh, I'm #1 on level 3, FUN. Or at least I was (TD_21) probably been surpassed since then. Still, it was nice to be #1 in the world (or at least North America) at something, even if it's a game probably being played by 25 people at this point. :D

Geo Wars is definitely better, but they're both fun games. Blast Factor's weakness is there's no randomness to the game, so it doesn't have as much replayability.

What's this talk of lemmings at $2.99? It was $5.99 when i bought it...:/

edit - geez, it is $2.99 for real? God, Sony, apply your discounts before putting the game online. Next time I'm gonna wait a while before buying something.

:( That sucks honestly. Kind of an odd change of price at a odd time if you ask me. Really sounds like it may have been a mistake at first imo. Who knows.

I know it's the principal of the matter but looking at the bright side, it was only 3 bucks. Could of been worse. :x

For sure, but I guess I'll know for the future. Seems there can be a lag between when a game goes online and when any offer/introductory prices are applied, so beware!

so guys is it true if you purchase a game from the PSN 4 different users can download it?

5, if you can activate their system (which can't be done over the net, you have to log in locally to their system). And it depends on the content...I don't think Sony is obliging third parties to adhere to this. It will specify in the description.

I'm going to try and test this over the weekend..it seems to be one of the most undiscovered/unexploited aspects of the whole thing (probably because of the necessary local authorisation), but I'm gonna try figure something out. The rewards could be great here..$1 games? $1 PSone games (you can share with 5 other PSPs too!)? Yes please.

But I'm not blaming jarrod because I didn't take his original comment to mean anything more than this: the use of motion controls had already been discussed in relation to KD gameplay and found insufficient for the task, it just happened to be in the context of a previous Wii controller discussion.
Sorry for any trouble, this was in a nutshell what I'd meant. Movement controls and Katamari together don't make much real sense... though I think offering the Katamari trilogy as downloads using tradional controls would be a great concept.

how did you buy it? Thought you were in Europe?

No worries, jarrod. Like I said, there's no blame in your corner...this time ;)

Arde0 - not online. Based on the arcade version Tekken 5 DR (i.e. not using assets from the PSP version from the looks of it)
