PS3 has Red screen with "Serious error" message. Is there a Fix

It's dead (maybe).

http://muppet-modding.com/showthread.php?tid=248

The PS3 red screen is noted by the red background with the error message "A serious error has occurred. Contact technical support for assistance." It is quite annoying since you can't do anything with your console and you can't get around the screen. So what can you do to get a PS3 red screen of death fix?

PS3 Red Screen of Death Fix- Tips

1) Try turning it on and off again. This mysteriously works...sometimes.

2) If that method fails then try resetting your console- Place your console in standby mode (when it shows the red light) then press and hold the power button for 5 seconds until you hear 2 beeps. This will reset your console settings however it should affect your hard drive data.

3) Turn off your console, unplug all the cables except the power cord then plug them back in. The PS3 red screen maybe caused by a loose cable.

4) Try taking out the hard drive and putting it back in. The instructions to do this are in your user's manual. Maybe the hard drive isn't properly connected.

Hopefully one of the tips above can fix the PS3. However ff none of the tips above give you a PS3 red screen of death fix then you are left with 2 options: Send your PS3 to Sony or get a good PS3 repair guide and fix the PS3 yourself.

Good luck!

Well I hadn't played my ps3 in around 4 months decided to fire it up. No dice. Just the red screen.

Went to recovery by holding the power button. Tried all the different options there. No dice.

Updated firmware still nothing. At a loss.

I had no idea the PS3 even had a red screen. Not to mention the "serious error" message is a pretty alarming error message to get.

Unfortunately there's only little that can be done other than rebooting and reconnecting the cables.

Try sticking your cock in the Blu ray drive, it worked for me.
Oddly enough, my medium size piece of meat had grill marks on it after removal from the disc drive.

I am not sure which is more disturbing.

That you stuck your cock in a BluRay drive.

Or that you have a cock that fits.

Ive never heard of this error, how did it happen?

Sometimes with the fat model 80gb units this would happen.Think the model that had fat case but slim size mothrboard. Had a friend give me a ps3 with this problem. He had power go out when updating fw. Saw a fix for old fw versions. If your on current fw ps3 is toast sorry.

To fix you gotta be able to get into factory service mode. Unfortunately that was disabled a long while back.

Try yelling at it.
No, dont take advice from this man, your pstriple is a classy lass. She needs that sweet lovin', gentelly caress the backside of your special one, close to where the fan is, while whispering sweet compliments in her ear (read: left/right usb port).

In doing so she will cool down and allow for hours of hot roleplaying games.
