Not enough, Sony. Not enough. Unless they plan to drop it another $50 at TGS after Microsoft inevitably responds with a 360 price cut, they won't be helping themselves as much as they should.

Don't get me wrong... the price is great news and will help sales, but not enough.

Not in the UK where 360 has been at £150 for a long time. If they can undercut the 360 in the US by $50 why does it still cost £50 more in the UK?

I paid $250 for my PS3 Slim 2 years ago as a result of some Dell deal.
I was expecting a deeper cut.

I'm guessing there will be a full drop to 200 sometime after the holiday season. Maybe Spring...

I'm stunned, and disappointed.

But clearly a few things were obvious from their PC.

1. They're struggling financially and and their struggling to innovate. The put a lot of their eggs in 3D and Move, and they aren't panning out.
2. They have NOTHING new since E3.
3. Developer support from Vita simply isn't there.

Very poor price cut, particularly so if that equated to £200 here in the UK, don't know with the way Sony deals with currency. It's been £200 for a long time now, supermarkets have had it at that price so this is a piss poor price cut, if my fatty dies then I'll just wait for the PS4.

So much for the ps3 at $199 usd. I need to buy a second ps3, and what really sucks over here is that any device that costs over $200, has to pay an extra 20% tax. I was really hoping that with the new price cut it would fall below that requirement.

I suppossed that with the rumoured new ps3 next year with Cell and RSX in a single chip, they will couple it with another $50 cut.

Don't get me wrong... the price is great news and will help sales, but not enough.

Microsoft won't drop prices this year. They have already announced holday bundles for as much as 450$. They think they can beat a 250$ PS3 WW this year thanks to Kinect and still being cheaper. If that's overconfident on their part it will be seen.

And people complaining about not much difference compared to retail offerings...with the base price officially lower even better deals will be made.
