PS3 update via storage medium

Did Sony remove the option to update PS3s with a jump drive? I have 4.21 downloaded right now on a jump drive and have it in my PS3, but it won't let me update with it. Every time I go to the System Update menu, it automatically tries to download the update from the internet. The option to update from a USB drive is gone.

Hmm, strange; you should still be able to do it through usb.

Maybe try disconnecting from your network on the PS3 so that it can't try to download the update from the internet.

I disabled the connection and now it's letting me update it. That was weird. It's never done that before. It's always given me the option of downloading it from the internet or updating from USB. It's never automatically gone to downloading before.

Yeah, very strange. At least it worked out for you.

I see that you solved the problem, but if it happends again, just go to Settings on the XMB, then choose System Update. Then you always get the option to update via internet or via storage media:

(sorry for the bad quality picture)

That's what I was doing. The option for Update via Storage Media wasn't there. It automatically tried to download it from the internet.

That is weird. Dont think i've ever seen that problem before. I took that picture myself earlier tonight and i was connected to PSN when i took it. But i'm on the latest firmware already, so maybe that have something to do with it.
