PS3 Wangan Midnight Update

After renting import tuner and playing healthbar racing games I quite like it, I missed out my chance on the dreamcast long ago with highway challenge and it's a shame I did.

its not Initial D or a rip-off, its another car manga that has a totally different style of racing in it
Well, either these mangas are from the same author, or one has copied the character art style off of the other. Either way, I really don't like the character art.

God I love the TXR series... Now where's my PS3 version?!?!?!?

Well, its looking better than it did when it was first announced. The arcade version was fun and i'm a fan of the manga so I will give it a try.

Plus, any game that lets me get some oldschool Datsun fairlady Z action is worth a try :D

MMmmm Cell Shaded. So is this the first example of Cell Shading we've seen on the PS3?

Or is there something else out there I haven't seen?

What screens are you looking at?

If anybody wasent impressed by that trailer, then you're stupid.
I think I see aliasing too so it's probably in-engine or in-game

I always had a lil' bit of fun with TXR, so I may give it a go... the "Initial D" style characters are cool, because, they, umm, remind me of Initial D?

I hope we get a fleshed out Initial D as well this gen...

And why the hell doesn't Adult-Swim get Initial D on there? It really was a GREAT series... Funny, nice artwork, cool car races, kick-ass music... It'd be a gold-mine considering how hot Drifting, street-racing, and tuning is here in the States still...

Don't forget Eurobeat! Initial D wouldn't be nearly as popular without the hot-blooded Eurobeat Soundtrack

"Runnin' in the Ninnetieees!"

I hate anything resembling a realistic racing game. That said, I will never turn down playing the Initial D arcade games because ZOMG EUROBEAT SOUNDTRACK!

Dear Genki,

I need a PS3 Tokyo Xtreme Racer to go along with the X360 version, thanks!

Yours,

Darien

P.S. Enhance it over the 360 version by putting all the damn roads back in that you REMOVED from the X360 version(as compared to the last PS2 version) please.... toodles!

I always wanted to know more about WM but couldn't find crap on the net and this thread delivered :) .

Kudos Defensor!

Can't wait for PS3 version.

That, and add back all the cars you removed.

That's pushing it, I'll settle for the cars and the roads. :)
Pushing it? Come now, the 360 game was pretty ugly for next-gen standards. There is no excuse for that framerate.

I'll have the leave "its pretty ugly" decisions to other folks. I'm not nearly as strict when it comes to that, I was just happy to have another TXR, the damn game was just over too soon....

no 2-1 battles, no 3-1, etc... the last PS2 TXR had so much content (cars and roads), so much fun... <Sigh>

How would you compare TXR Zero to 360 one? I only had TXRZ and loved it, I couldn't find the later ones in PAL, sadly.

Wanted to get 360 one but don't know how does it match, TXRZ was pretty 'neverending', that was fun about it.

Absolutely, it was a visual mess (regardless of frame rate) but still a superb game. I love the Genki racers, each and every last one of them.

360 is ok, it's just shorter. I like the storyline aspect of it, and I thought it was cool how you have the parking areas where you can "Read" little one-liners from other opponents/racers, etc. and sometimes get tips on what you need to have to challenge certain vehicles.

I just wish it was longer I mean I was absolutely amazed that they actual removed pieces of track that have been in the game since the DC TXR's let alone the new pieces of track they added in Zero.

The long straightaways in the 360 are ok, but don't at all replace the track pieces missing.

reminds me a bit of "Shutokou Battle" on DC...maybe it's the highway... ;-P

This is a joke right?

Is this game import friendly, english language and such?

That's what we have our fingers crossed for right now. The most recent 360 Genki racing game certainly would not have been import friendly if it was region-free, but hopefully Wangan will follow the trend of PS3 games including all the languages and text on one disk.

Came across this link on a Blu Ray site (of all places), is Konami publishing the game or do they sell other company's shit on konamistyle?

http://www.konamistyle.jp/ecitem/item39748.html

Don't know if it was confirmed before but there is definitely online battles from the description, and it looks like it supports 1080p - maybe someone with better Japanese than mine can confirm and translate the rest?

Dear Genki,

Don't force me to threaten you again.

WHERE THE HELL IS MY PS3 TXR?!!??!?!?!

Signed,

Me
