PS4 bad controller lag all the sudden?

So Ive just had a pretty strange thing start happening with my PS4. The controllers are really laggy when I try to use them wirelessly all the sudden.

I played for a few hours last night with no problems but today its impossible to play anything now unless the controller is plugged in. Ive tried it with both controllers I have and its the same with both of them. I have a new laptop and thought it might be from Bluetooth interference but Ive turned off the bluetooth on the computer but there has been no improvement.

I Googled and saw that it appears to be a known issue but I couldnt find any solutions for this or why it even happens.

EDIT: I tried resetting the controllers with the little recessed button on the back of them but it only seems to work for a minute before going back to being laggy.

UPDATE: I turned off the wifi on my laptop and the issue went away completely. I turned the Wifi back on and the controller feels much better but Im getting a little bit of stuttering audio out of the controller. After a few minutes its back to full lag mode.

UPDATE 2: After going through the official controller reset process it worked for only a couple minutes before becoming laggy again. I tried turning the wifi on my laptop off and it instantly went back to being responsive. So Im pretty much sure that it has something to do with the Wifi on my laptop. Could any technically inclined person help me come up with a way to resolve this issue?

UPDATE 3: I went in to my router settings and it appeared that it was already on Channel 11 but the setting was on "Auto". I changed it to stay on channel 11. Ive played Dying Light on the PS4 for another 20 minutes or so and the issue hasnt returned yet so hopefully this is the final fix. Just FYI, my laptop currently has bluetooth and wifi turned on and still no lag, so I think the channel issue was the cause. Big thanks to everybody in here with their suggestions!
 
I have this issue as well. My PS4 is an launch console, and the past year up until now, I've been getting heavy lag on my controllers as well as my Sony Gold Wireless Headset keeps disconnecting every 10-20 seconds. I thought it was interference but haven't really looked into what it can be. I was just leaning towards it being an hardware problem since the launch PS4's were somewhat defective but didn't affect the majority of other owners. Now waiting for my new PS4.

ALSO: there's a way to check the bluetooth antennae and see if it's a bit off or out of angle. Alot of people somehow managed to fix it by placing the antennae back into it's place, BUT remember that getting to the antennae will require you to unscrew the back, which in return, will void your warranty. Good luck and keep us updated on any fixes!
 
Try turning off your laptop's WiFi, just to see. Bluetooth and WiFi operate on the same frequencies and can cause interference with each other
 
If you have twitter follow @askplaystation they have a tutorial about the DS4 and how to reset it as well as numerous how to's for the PS3 and PS4 and they answer questions.
 
Go into your router's settings and change the WiFi channel to 11. Reset controller after that again. That is suggested by Sony and fixed the problem for me.

As far as I can tell with my limited knowledge of the tech other WiFi frequencies have a chance of interfering with the DS4's bluetooth, but that one doesn't. Or at least not as much.

EDIT: Also make sure there's as few obstructions as possible between you and the PS4. Could be that the DS4 signal is quite weak as well.

Noted for future reference. This has happened with other bluetooth devices in the past with certain routers.
 
Can you get in the router wireless settings and change the channel? It's usually 192.168.1.1 username - admin passwords vary by brand. I'd try that.

Just got into the router settings, its already on channel 11.
 
Yeah it sounds like wifi interference, I sometimes get this if my wife is sat next to me using her MacBook. Resetting the controller won't help. It sucks. Though for some reason I only get it with one of my controllers (a launch day one).
 
Also make sure the router is set to only use one channel and not auto.

Also you might want to check and see if turning off the 2.4ghz channels works. They can cause a lot of interference. If your laptop and everything in your home can use the 5ghz channels turn the 2.4 off and see what happens. I don't remember exactly but I think b and g use 2.4 and N can use both 2.4 and 5. A and AC only use 5GHZ (nobody uses A anymore).

Bluetooth also uses 2.4GHZ so disabling it on your router if nothing else uses it might alleviate the problems.

edit: oh if your ps4 is using wifi you can't disable 2.4Ghz as it uses it and isn't compatible with 5Ghz spectrum.

if it is just your laptop you can disable those channels on the laptop itself.
 
I had a similar issue and I thought it was happening randomly. But little did I know it was my iPhone or sometimes the iPad being close by causing the issue. Then I investigated a little further and found out it was only happening when the Bluetooth was on.

Never had issues with wifi interference though.
 
It's most likely bluetooth interference. I had a bluetooth surround sound bar that would massively fuck up my controller whenever it was turned on.
 
My issue is slightly different, my controller functions normally when the "Move" light bar is directly facing the console, but for some reason if I put anything in front of my controller, whether it's my knees if I'm sitting down or a blanket if I'm cold, my headphones just go completely crazy and it starts lagging badly, I was wondering what kind of ancient tech is Sony using with these controllers.
