PS4 designer discusses the outward appearance of the console

Thanks for posting, I love reading about stuff like this. I think they did a stunning job with the console; bravo to the designers. I can't wait to see that blue strip light up for the first time.

I want the custom Destiny PS4.

Add that color blue to the controller and I'm sold.

Man I am going to love looking at that on my entertainment center.

How did you get it so small, Sony?

Computing has been getting more and more capable whilst using less power. This is the same reason you can game on a Macbook Air. I expect any free space will be filled up with heat sink.

Add that color blue to the controller and I'm sold.

My favorite thing about the fake Destiny controller is that the icons on all the buttons are the same color. I hate the multicolored buttons on the dual shock and Xbox controllers. Are there really people out there that refer to the buttons by color?

It looks like a PS2 Slim, but cooler. So it's the best looking console I've ever seen.

They shouldn't have went with black. How boring.

Should have been white or grey.
Originally with the PS3 they were showing all three of the colours you mentioned but eventually just went with black and released the other two later on.

In fact the primary model of the PS3 they first unveiled was grey.

I personally want a grey PS4 as a homage to the PS1.

I don't like the PS4 design. Just seems off-putting. It's a beast of a console and I'll most likely get it, but still. Will probably be the first time i buy a console and don't really like the way it looks externally.

The divide between people is so fascinating. Some people think, holy crap that's the sexiest box of all time need it in my veins. And some are like, it's a black box, or, it's ugly. And I just get confused. But then I look at a bandares gif and it's all okay then. Honestly I'll have to stare at it just like I did my OG PS3. It had that gloss curve to it that just felt surreal. Then again, it did cost me $649.49...maybr it just felt good to own it. Personally, I hope we can customize the light on the console.

Wait? Does the light actually pulsate while it's on? Anyway, I think it looks pretty good. I can't help but think that similarities to the PS2 design are somewhat deliberate. It looks just enough like a PS2 to give me memories of my experience with that console while at the same time being different enough to give it that futuristic, next-gen feel.

Really like the style.

The most impressive aspect is the size of it.

Does anyone know if the camera has a clamp that allows it to sit on top of the TV?

Ugly console imo. It looks like it came from the 90s and not in a good way. Usb ports showing in the front make it look like an office device.

I like the controller though.

I really like the design, it really reminds of the PS2 Slim design which is my favorite console design ever. I was hoping that Sony opted for an angular aesthetic like their phones and blu-ray players, and I'm happy that they indeed went with that.

I don't find the design ugly but it's not awe-inspiring enough to make me want to have relations with it like some of you. I prefer something that will sit in my entertainment center and not scream for attention. It being black should help this but that long LED strip, while cool at first, I find to be unnecessary.

Those two tone controllers are light-years better than the all black one. I might sell my black controller that comes with the console and buy a blue/black and a red/black controller.
