PS4 Online Multiplayer Unavailable for Countries Without a Store

Just create a Euro account with a duff address?

Hopefully this is possible. Blocking by IP would be a dick move.

This affects me because altough i´m Brazilian i use my US account, US PS+ service and features... so hopefully they are not blocking anything by IP.

The only thing that´s IP blocked right now are the movies and Tv Shows, so hopefully it´s the same, otherwise it would be horrible for me.

This makes me wonder. I have two PSN accounts. One Japanese, one American. What if I buy PS+ on the US account. Can I not play online on my JP account. The mind boggles.

Guessing its going to how it is now, these countries don't have stores on PS3. They are probably using a US or UK account, just going to use that again? But obviously this time will need to buy a retail PS+ sub if foreign credit cards are blocked.

Would this not force them to connect via UK or US based servers? Could be adding way more lag than they really want.

And why would that be a problem when Romania or Serbia or Croatia dont have their PSN stores and dont have their game servers. They have to connect to some distant servers any way.

This is nothing new people, Romanian users and people from 150 more countries simply have to create account in some supported country, and use their services. Sony does not use IP filtering, they accept everyone.

common sense people, PS4 online is behind a PS+ subscription/paywall, if you don't even have an official store, how the heck were you planning to play online with your PS4??

As I've said in my post, where I am, PSN isn't supported and we don't have an "official" PSN Store. I just use the US one from an account I created and it's been working like a dream ever since. Heck, I even created Asian, EU, etc. PSN accounts.

So everywhere you can't access PS Store you won't have online multiplayer either?
And making a spoof account to get online means that you'll have to fake name, adress, credit card info etc and start a subscription on that fake account?
Sounds awful. :/

But what about using an ip bouncer? Crappy network speeds perhaps.

is this really a big deal? Methinks no.

You can't even create an online acct in those nations. Of course you can't play online. Won't stop you from creating a neighbor country account.

Yeah, this is no way near Xbox One's region issues. You won't be able to play the Ps4 online in 8 countries. The Xbox One will only work in 21 countries.

If we can't access stores from other countries anymore, I'll have to rethink my day1 purchase.
Sony fix that shit! But when you think about all EU countries that still don't have a Videostore, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Haha, love the gnashing of teeth from people that are STARVING for bad Sony news.

Will be news if they cant create other nation accounts like on PS3 etc.

Unacceptable.

I know you're a fan of the XBone, but please stop pretending that what each company is doing is equivalent.

Agreed. The "Sony Too" crowd at it again. Pretty sure he told me it was naive to think Sony wouldn't go the DRM route, but I forget lol.

Where are you pulling this from?!

I imagine people in countries without a PSN Store would have created accounts from other countries anyway and could buy PS+, so...?

Pretty much non-news to me.

I'm pretty sure it was confirmed you can make accounts from any region on any PS4.

I am from Romania and I was really afraid of this with the introduction of mandatory PS+ for online play for PS4.

But didn't they say that there only needs to be one PS+ account on the console and the other ones get all the benefits? I hope they won't IP block us and let us use UK/US accounts in order to buy PS+ and play online on our Store-less accounts.

This is awful.

Yes, I realize there are workarounds by creating an account in a different country, but the average consumer probably won't know this.

This makes me wonder. I have two PSN accounts. One Japanese, one American. What if I buy PS+ on the US account. Can I not play online on my JP account. The mind boggles.

Maybe someone should ask about that... D: It would be nice if multiplayer PS+ status was cross region but somehow that seems too good to be true.

You can do that now with PS3. PS+ from one account is shared on all local accounts.

This is awful.

Any average consumer who used PS3 in those countries will know about this tactic. Sony has tons of users in unsupported countries, and all of them connect to PSN without problem and use PS+.

On a side note, can't you just sign up to a different countries PSN? I have like several accounts anyway, including one for America, Japan etc.

Why? The Ps4 will work in those countries.

Those countries are still able to play single player and can still get another account from another country that anyone there who wants to shop online on PS3 already has in order to play multi and buy shit.

It's still shitty that they don't have a proper store, and it's all the more reason for one unified store, if only for the whole of Europe.

However, they can at least work around it.

Ah ok, if they at least work in those countries that's acceptable I guess

Haha, it's like Sony knows they can get away with doing a few shitty things because the Xbone is way shittier.

They aren't doing anything. They aren't actively blocking you from online, it's the fact that PS+ is region/account specific, so if you live in a region without a PS Store, you can't get PS+ for your account in that region.

I don't think they get All the benefits, but they do get online multi.

And you can still do that, buy your PSN+ cards from amazon, redeem them, ?????? profit.

SONY is not going to actively go after you and block your IP because your country is not deemed worthy, unless Microsoft were you really have no way of playing online if your country is not on the white list.

Sony did say multiple accounts can enjoy PS+ with a single subscription on a console, remains to be seen if its the same for cross regional accounts too.

This is awful.

Yes, I realize there are workarounds by creating an account in a different country, but the average consumer probably won't know this.

The people living in those few countries will know this, because it's not different from how it has been in the past.

You probably can, they don't IP check.
I know that I couldn't register my German credit card in the UK store.

Don't know if that happens everytime when your cc is from a different region or if it's just a german specific block (which wouldn't be unusual)

You know, unlike Microsoft, Sony does not block IPs. So no, it isn't "terrible" at the slightest. Just create an account with another country. Problem solved.

Neither does Microsoft, fyi. That was yet another tale from the 360 technical support Twitter account's ass.

Regarding the thread, it's a storm in a teacup, just change your address to a UK one and you're done, no?

Sony's true colors are coming out.

Really?

Sony can't create a store specifically for 1 country each

It would be a logistical nightmare to deliver digital content to all the different currencies/laws

That's why they have region based stores

NA covers theirs UK/German/Dutch covers that Region, No clue on Middle East, and HK/JP cover Asian territories

Hell right now on the PS3 I can go to any of these store and purchase digital goods

Does it suck ass Romania doesn't have it's own store, Yes
Is Sony working on it... Probably
Are there work around, Abso-Fucking-Lutely

Create you main Romanian account, create a secondary UK/Ditch/German account (which gives you the game cheaper through currency exchange rate), prosper

Even for the PS4 we have that if one account has PS+, the whole console is activated for MP access

Hell I have/had over 35+ PSN accounts going (due to 1 month PS+ Euro code bonanza)

Not the ideal solution, but how about making an account in a different region?

.

Regionfree PS4s. Nothing stopping you from getting PS+ from another country, but I expect them to have workarounds for these countries soon anyways since they said they are working on it.

ITT half the people offer a simple solution and the other half ignore it as they condemn Sony without fully understanding what was really said.

EDIT: Also, misleading thread title.

When I got my PS3 I registered under a USA account because I think Venezuela wasn't in the selectable country list, I'm guessing it would be the same case this time? Playing online with an account from another country which is supported, unless they IP block that is... :(

Same here, Colombia doesn't have a store, and since ps+ is a must have now, it is a no brainer countries without a store "can't" play online since you cant buy a membership, but if they IP block that would be a huge deal, but after no region lock and all that freedom it would be really weird if Sony did this.

THREAD NEEDS TO BE RENAMED INTO:

PS4: Users from unsupported countries need to connect to supported PSN stores to get PS+ [same as with PS3]

I know that I couldn't register my German credit card in the UK store.

Does that go for every country or is it just some special block for german users? (which wouldn't be unusual)
I think all CCs have to be registered in the country of the account. Same for me in the UK trying to set up a Japanese account.

I assume you buy PSN cards from the UK?
