PS4 Owners, do you guys not missing Suspend/Resume feature?

To be honest I always thought it was there with "standby" mode. When it comes it comes it's not a big deal to me, I was more concerned with being able to upload my videos to YouTube and that's coming in firmware 2.0

No. I rarely even use Stand By. If they can implement it then fine maybe I will use it. Who knows I might even use it often but I am fine without it.

An absolutely killer feature, it's one of those things where you don't really appreciate how useful it is until you've experienced it yourself.

Mind you I hope Sony do iron all the bugs out before release, have had a fair few instances where it hasn't worked on the Xbox. Particularly infuriating when I suspended a 3 hour race on Forza I was 3/4s through, only to have to start all over again.

I never leave my electronics on standby and usually only play once a day, so its not a feature I would use.

But I can understand why other people want it.

It's wonderful on the Vita, but I've had it go wrong enough times on my XB1 that I've disabled it. It would work about half the time, and the other half of the time just freeze up or generally not load properly. Maybe it's been improved in later firmware's but haven't had much need to turn it back on yet.

Still, would like to have the option on the PS4. Might not keep it enabled all the time however it could be handy for certain titles.

How did you ever survive in past generations.
I'm not fussed on it, but since Sony made a poi t of having it and then not delivering, obviously that's disappointing.

I'd forgotten about this feature. Not missing it, but if I have to keep it on suspend in order to resume a game, I'd probably end up not using it. That said, it was a promised feature right? So yes I want it.

To be honest I don't use it that much on X1, since I always switch between games and apps. And the kind of games I play are usually based on short game sessions, so I don't have a specific state I would want to find when I come back.
I think it's a feature that is mostly useful for mobile gaming, when you start a game while commuting, suspending it when you get off the train and resume it later in the evening.

It doesn't even work that well on Xbox One anyways, I don't consider it true suspend/resume because sometimes it won't work or the game will just close automatically when firing up a different app. I don't use it because I'm afraid I'll lose progress this way, and it doesn't work for all games such as ones which require you to be signed in to your Xbox Live to play and if you sign out then you lose the progress. They need to make it like the Vita so that you know it will not close unless you hard reset or you are notified.

Anyways PS4 owners don't feel bad because it doesn't work on Xbox One really anyways.

I honestly think that people that don't care about suspend/resume have Stockholm syndrome.

Thanks for caring about the earth!

You could just pause... you won't turn off the console in both case.

Edit - You could remote play too like the other guy said.

I'm talking about switching to another app on the same console - in this case amazon prime instant video to watch deadwood..

I'm not sure where you get that from as It works quiet well on Xbox, with the caveat that early launch games can be finicky with it in terms of controllers occasional. It's also one game at a time on the X1. If you open up another game, it will close.

Why? It would be a pretty cool feature but some people, like myself, haven't seen the "OMGZ MUST HAVE OR SONY FAIL" need for it. If they do it, it needs to be done right.

Cool feature. Ps4 has never had it so I can't miss it. I also have a xbox one. And suspend and resume does not always work. But over all it really depends on how much of this feature requires memory allocation that can be used for gaming. On my perfect world the os would have a 500 Meg foot print. With 7.5 gigs going to the games.

Anybody with an Xbone knows how great a feature it is.

I still can't believe Sony dropped the ball so spectacularly here - its been 16 months since the reveal now and there's still no ETA.

And its a sidelong thought, but it also sucks that nobody has followed Guerrilla's lead with making their games start as quickly as possible without all the intros and logos and fade-ins beforehand. Loading up Shadow Fall is super quick - BAM - right to where you want to go.

Not only that but the Active Game area on the home screen lets you boot into direct modes of the game. Even less menu choosing and even quicker to gameplay. I can't believe other games have not done that!

You can to that on PS4... you can watch netflix for example... PS4 will just suspend the game in a pause mode.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I just noticed Sony removed a feature in one of the updates.

When selecting a profile in the "Recent Players" category, in the "Friends" section, you cannot no longer see what game a person is playing.

I swear that it worked for sure, but now it's gone. So if I want to invite a player into my party, I have no way of knowing if they're online or not unless we are friends.

Own Vita, Xbone, and PS4. I play primarily on PS4. I can see why people like this feature but I never use it on Xbone or Vita. A few times it has saved me an extra couple minutes but it's not something I ever think about. Personally, I don't care if the PS4 ever gets this feature.

Um, how can we miss something we haven't had ;)?

Honestly, a little but since we can still suspend/resume when the console is on it's not a huge deal. There's only been a few times where I noticed it would be nice if I could do the same with it turning off.

But to be fair the console has mostly been a glorified netflix machine (this year has not been great imho for games I'm interested in. Most I've been playing are my backlogged ones but I have a ton of those so it's been good for that. And my backlogged ones are on my PS3/Vita/xbox 360. Next year I think will justify my PS4. If nothing else for Witcher 3 and if No Man's Sky comes out then. And I might just have to give up on Fallout being announced for next year :( ).

I'm kind of indifferent. It sounds neat, but I am not sure I would use it much because of the cost of electricity versus the minimal time booting a game already takes. If it happens cool, but I would prefer folders first.

I absolutely miss it.
When I game, I usually play one game to completion.
Right now I am making my way through Last of Us.
How awesome would it be to boot up my PS4, sign in, hover over The Last of Us icon and be instantly warped to the exact spot I stopped playing 2 days before.

I don't think people comprehend how useful a feature that is.
I'm not asking for a save game replacement, I don't expect it to work if I launch another game, I just want basic suspend/resume ability like was promised.

Say what you will about Microsoft, at least they let you use it as they test it.
I could be wrong but it is labeled beta on Xbox. I wish Sony would follow suit.

I can live without it, it's absence isn't crimping my gaming style. But it's an unfulfilled promise since the PS4 was first announced, with no reasonable explanation given for why it hasn't been implemented yet, or just the basic acknowledgment that it was something they were never really ready/able to provide, apparently. Particularly peculiar given that they had already done it on the Vita and it works quite well there.

I think they at least owe early adopters a legitimate explanation for its ongoing absence and a solid ETA for when it will be implemented, if it's still happening. If not, just come out and be honest about the fact that it's never getting done.

spoken like a champ

btw, I guess that means its also 16 months since the reveal and still no pause download either.

This feature is what initially sold me on the PS4. =/

Hopefully it comes soon. It really would have been useful on my current play through of TLoU. >_<

Funnily enough no. I have a 7200rpm HDD in my PS4 and the thing loads up quickly as it is, so I'm not missing some that hasn't been there. Maybe if we had it originally and it went away for a while...

def would be nice for offline titles ...but re online games it's not going to matter much as yr session is going to get booted either way.

Quick update, this feature is god like in Diablo 3. So good. Now how can someone not appreciate this is beyond me.

The people that say they don't care about it, have yet to experience its awesomeness. Once you have it, you can't live without it. Yes, PS4 needs this, and badly.

I don't think a lot of people responding even understand what suspend/resume even is. I'm seeing responses like, "Loading time doesn't bother me."

It's not about that at all. It's about when I turn off Killzone and expect to pick up where I left off, but the next time I start it, I lose 45 minutes of progress because it loads back to the last checkpoint. With suspend/resume, it would take me back exactly where I was.

Honestly, I'm pissed that we don't have it yet. It was one of the features I was looking forward to on PS4 the most, and then we found out it wasn't in for launch. I kind of assumed it would be patched in within a month or two, but here we are and it's still not in, with no signs of it being close.

Suspend/resume is good on Vita because its a handheld and it makes sense because you're meant to be playing it in between doing things and on the go so you want to turn it off and on constantly.

On a home console the feature isn't that useful because for the most part when I turn the console on, its on until I'm done playing and then I turn it off.

This is true. I can't see myself using this feature. Two of my friends have Xbox One's and they don't even use it. They just leave the consoles on or plainly cut them off when they want to play again cut them back on. I rather they use this time to focus on other features on the console that's missing in general.

Never had it so I don't miss it. OP, do you enjoy having to wait 4 times longer than I do to install a new game?

Don't own same game on both console, so I don't know about 4x longer install wait times. But even if that was true, I will take one time wait over every time I boot up a game wait. I have been playing Diablo 3 constantly since past 3 days, and never gave shit about the checkpoint. When ever I have to go I just turn it off and turn and pick up from exactly where I was last time.

But not everyone has the same situation. A lot if times I'm just squeezing in a little gaming while my fiancé is finishing work and stop right away when she's done to hang out. Others have kids, work on call jobs and other things that can end a gaming session without warning.

It's not a feature needed much by people who live alone or are have man caves their partner is fine with them disappearing into for hours. But it's very useful for others.
