PS4 Players: Are you sold on TitanFall 2?

I was day 1 after adoring the original despite it's lack of replay value. They seem to have addressed that issue with TF2 but they've made pretty much everything else worse. I'll buy it if they make significant design changes or when it's cheap.

Too many good games coming out this fall to waste money on something so bland and disappointing.

No. I was considering it for a split second, but in the end i know i won't have fun with just the single-player alone. For some reason i can't get into FPS Multiplayer anymore...i used to play a ton a couple of years ago

Yeah I am kind of the same now too. I listened to GAF and bought overwatch but that is boring me out now too

Not at all for multiplayer, Overwatch is all I need, might jump in at a cheap price if the single player is good enough. I'm more interested in how do X1/PC players who dropped the first game few weeks after launch feel about TitanFall 2.

I don't really do the whole "multiplayer FPS" thing, but if the single-player campaign is really good I'm on it in a second.

Otherwise, nah.

will rent it for the campaign. releasing this right next to cod/modern warfare remaster/battlefield is such a stupid idea. push it to january when nothing is out,

Interesting to hear because I listened to everyone saying this on GAF, purchased the game and then was left wondering why after 15 hours of playing it.

I thought it was okay but I'm still playing Overwatch and going to buy Battlefield 1 so those are enough for this year.

I enjoy the way it plays, but unfortunately my brother and I can't play together.

We're on two separate PS4s on the same network, and while this works fine for every other game we play, Titanfall 2 boots one of us 90% of the time a match is loading.

I'll try the next test to see if they fix this somehow.

Nah, I'm not sold on it
Should we expect to see your full in depth review to land shortly?

Only half kidding ;D

It really doesn't feel the same as the original did. I thought it was because I've moved back to PC gaming and had been playing TF1 on that for a while however looking at others feedback the game aa fundamentally changed, not necessarily for the best.

Same here. I find it incredibly shallow. Not a very good competitive game. I guess the strong presentation and character design is what popularises it.

Kinda, I'd like to see some gameplay and netcode tweaks though. More than likely I'll buy it but coming from TF1 I do not think it has improved too much over the stellar original.

It feels like a confused spin-off of the Call of Duty games, which I haven't really enjoyed since Call of Duty 4 anyway. I do wonder about its place in the market now that so many other shooters have begun to ape their movement mechanics.

Either way, I stopped playing Call of Duty because of bad map design, a terrible spawning system, tedious balance and the stupidly low time to kill. I'm not going to start playing a game that shares all of the same flaws.

I like the idea of Titanfall 2, but you can tell its made by the same people who somehow developed Modern Warfare 2 having built something as good as Call of Duty 4.

Yes I'm pretty much sold on it. I mean I was sold on it when they first showed off info at E3 but after playing the technical test I'm dead set on getting that game now.

Some people are calling it CoD with robots but I don't really get that vibe, the game is much faster than even Blops3 was and they are a lot of little and big things it does that make it feel totally different than the CoDs I've been playing since CoD4.

I fell off hard from Overwatch so I'm looking forward to this and CoD: IW being my FPSes of the year. Battlefield 1 was on my radar till E3 then when they showed it off I basically viewed it as a BF4 WWI mod/skin.

I rarely play the single player campaigns in FPS games. The stories are just not engaging enough for me to sit through and just jump into the multiplayer on them more often than not. With that in mind, like a lot of people have said, TitanFall 2 is a step down from 1. Sure it's fun, especially if you haven't played the first one, but so much has been downgraded. That whole "doing it as a new IP" crap doesn't make sense to me 🤔. Youhadonejob.jpeg

Damn, I haven't been following Titanfall 2 news even though I had it pre-ordered. It doesn't play like the first one? Guess I'm getting Battlefield 1 instead.

Between Titanfall 2. Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare, I have a feeling all three are gonna eat into each other's sales. Has there ever been holiday season as competitive as this year is for FPS?

I'll probably pick this up when it's cheap just for the single player but definitely not buying at launch for the multiplayer unless it gets like an insane amount of critical praise - maybe then I will at least consider it again.

Was in the exact same boat - returned it before the end of the week and vowed never to let myself get caught up in the GAF hype again.

I don't get all the "does not feel like the first game" going on here lately.

Because it feels and performs better than the first game.

For starters the screen tearing is gone, in TF1 it happened enough times in three minutes to make you want to turn off the game.

Game did not slow down/drop frames during heavy action scenes.

"The Titans are not as OP, I can't even"

Yes, because there are more than just 3 Titans in the game, who will all have different attributes. Some of you know this and ignore it anyway. Do you expect a ogre hybrid to dash around as fast as a strider? Apparently

I can think of two real cons.
1)grappling onto a Titan is way too easy. Stop that, it's ridiculous, you can hop off and regrapple seconds later
2)as a Titan as of right at this moment, I don't think I have any preventive measure like electric smoke to kill the pilot on my back to stop the animation.

TTK is too low on pilots as well but I'm sure that's just so people can feel good about getting kills. Playing this on a ps4 felt great and a much more enjoyable experience than vlops3

GAF hype is the worst, spent $120 on ps4 games I should not have. All cause these super hype train. TF2 is going to be dope, single player will probably be amazing. But I'll be playing Destiny and Battlefield....wish this came out in March, which will be when I buy it.

No, maybe next year for the single player when it'a ÂŁ10 but whilst I've warmed to the technical test over the course of the weekend it's still not a patch on Titanfall 1. I just don't like the changes they've made. I don't wish Respawn any ill will or anything and I hope they find their fanbase, that just doesn't seem to include me unfortunately.

They may make changes due to feedback but my moneys going on Battlefield 1, COD Infinite Warfare/COD4 Remastered and Shadow Warrior 2 this year.

TBH not really, I put a fair amount of time on 1 on PC and something is off on 2. I liked the grapple hook but something reminded me of Homefront 1 and not in a good way.

No. TF1 had amazing gameplay and maps, and I don't think anyone really complained about that. People mostly just wanted more content, customisation, progression. The paid map packs didn't help the game's longevity.

For some reason they've fundamentally changed the gameplay and regressed from TF1. Only a year ago the game designers were talking about how important the Titan timer was, how important the Titan shield was, emphasising movement not camping, the purpose of the AI, and so on.

My only explanation is that they think the only way to give TF2 longer legs is to attract more of the COD player base, and have changed the game accordingly. Which is a shame, because we already have COD; TF is supposed to be something different.

Uhm, there is electric smoke in Titanfall 2.
Yeah the grenade but for the Titan to knock pilots off their back to interrupt attacks?

Oh well in that case my only complaint is low TTK and grappling onto enemy Titans.

Boomtown was good for wall running/grappling for momentum so not sure where the hate I'd coming from.

.
Look at the people playing the game for the first time and that would explain a lot.

Too engrossed in Overwatch still, I don't need another multiplayer FPS when all I'll be doing is thinking about Overwatch anyway.

As an Xbox only owner who loved the first game I can't believe how disappointed I am with what I played over the weekend. The maps are terrible and dont have the flow of the first game and the player movement seems to have been diluted / slowed down. Will check it out again this weekend but right now it went from Day One to It Has To Do A Lot To Win Me Over.

Properly gutted :(

Yeah it's left on the dpad when in a Titan. You'll see it appear just above the L1 button icon on the hud on the bottom left of the screen when it's ready to use.

my thoughts exactly...

Never played the first but kept an eye on it because of the devs and the unique gameplay.

Played the MP and couldn't be more disappointed. Pushing Pilot vs Pilot was one of the most idiotic things they could have done.

Thought I would give the training a go after and enjoyed that more due to the closed nature of the level. It's was like a different game.

Almost. It was fun for a few hours, but I'm not sold on the gunplay. For some reason, it still doesn't "click" with me. The Titan stuff is great, it's just the soldier to soldier stuff isn't as good. I'm just not sure that if I bought it, I would want to keep playing it. I have the first one on PC and literally played for a week and never touched it again.

XB1 only owner that loved the first one here. One of my favourite FPS games of all time and still up there as one of the best games of this generation.

Massively disappointed with 2. I still think I'll get it because I have no interest in CoD or BF and I trust Respawn to make some changes so that it's more like Titanfall after all the backlash and the campaign looks cool. But they've completely shit the bed for the sequel.

I'm someone that's always defended releasing close to CoD (Not BF though, just CoD :P) and have said they should long before any dates were announced, but after playing it... Delay this game Respawn and fix yo shit vince zampella :(

It has its moments but for now, GOW4 is the only game in October for me. I do wish success for TF2 but between sandwiched between GOW4, The Last Gaurdian and COD:IW isn't really a smart way to make sales.

It's not on my radar. First-person military shooters just aren't my bag anymore.

Maybe it's a bit disingenuous to refer to the game as a "military shooter" given its sizeable sci-fi slant, but really, to these eyes it looks pretty interchangeable to what Calladuty has become at this point. Ho hum.

Never had to be sold on it, I was always day one. Loved the first on PC and XBO.

This sequel is doing everything wrong. I honestly hope they delay it, get out of the holiday Killzone, and fix the game to bring it back to what Titanfall is supposed to be.

It looks more like Black Ops than ever. I get the heritage and all that, but it should really be striving to be its own thing. TTK seemed stupid enough on PS4, will be unplayable on PC if they keep it the way it currently is. I hope there's a lot more content at launch and in the pipeline because, once again, what is there is kind of underwhelming.

Given BF1 coming out and the bad reception, they should delay it until March or so, really put some work in with feedback from players.

This is pretty much spot on. It gives me this stupid, mindless meat grinder feeling recent COD games have that made me drop Call of Duty series long ago.

I play primarily on PS4 but bought an X1 for Halo 5. I ended up picking up TF1 on a whim not expecting much and it ended up being one of my favorite MP games I've ever played. So TF2 has been the game I've been most hyped for since it was announced.

I couldn't have been more disappointed by the TF2 tech test this weekend. They seem to have changed everything for the worse in the sequel. If the rumors that Attrition won't be in the final game are true then this game is dead on arrival to me. Bounty Hunter is at best a change of pace type of game type. It is not an adequate replacement for Attrition as the core game type that remains the most popular mode in TF1 to this day (and it's not particularly close). Aside from that, taking away the titan timer, titan shields, and burn cards were all bad changes in my opinion. Also, if the maps in the test are any indication of the types of maps to expect in the game, they aren't half as good as the maps in TF1.

Long story short, I've never gone from so hyped to so disappointed for an upcoming game. I hope it is delayed and they take the time to make a proper sequel. As it stands TF1 is the better game in basically every possible way.
