PS4 Supports Move, But Not the DS3

With the lack of backwards compatibility, why would we expect them to implement controller backwards compatibility? Many of the new controllers features wouldn't be available to DS3 so it's usefulness would be spotty at best.

At least with the Move that means they intend to continue to try and put software out that utilizes it, so it makes a lot more sense than supporting DS3.

Because you can use virtually any USB controller that has the same amount of inputs on the PS3 right now.

Damn, Sony is really ditching almost everything PS3 related with the PS4. This doesn't mean I won't be buying it, but I'm sure it won't please some people. Especially with it not being BC with games either.(non-streaming)

Fuck you sony , I'm not buying another second controller because you had to put a rubbing pad on there.

edit: at least my dual shock 3 will keep working on pc next gen.

This for some reason screams to me that the light bar is now a requirement, what is one difference between the DS4, Move and DS3 that would make the DS3 not compatible?

Light bar, I really can't think of anything else.....

Does this mean the Camera is going to be required too?

Wait, didn't we all assume this already? No mic connector, light tracking indicator, no touch pad, etc?

Move would obviously just work as it is, and technically it's now upgraded thanks to the better camera(s).

Massive margins on gaming accessories like controllers. Did anyone really think they weren't going to make you purchase an additional controller?

Lest we forget $30 8MB memory cards.

BTW is there any advantages for using digital buttons instead of analog? Why would they change that, not that I remember using them outside of MGS.

So use the PS4 controller that comes with the box, wait for DS3 to DS4 converter and then only play local co-op , multiplayer games that dont use the touchpad.

Gotcha Sony

I dunno , I hate the playstation controller (allways hurts my hands ) but it seems silly to lock out the controller. People invested money into them. But I guess at the other end of the spectrum a new system comes once every 5-7 years so an extra $60-$180 a generation for controllers isn't so bad. The only problem I see is if sony increases the cost for the new controllers

I completely forgot that the sub-controller existed. DO a lot of games use it?
