PS4/XBO and the two months preceding E3

I've heard Metro Redux will get a rerelease and more will be known at E3. Its a shame they couldn't get Metro port out earlier in the quiet months June-August as that's when it will sell, after August it would be outshined by bigger games. Its a shame as I feel Metro Last Light deserves more sales, and I think Metro would benefit a lot from a next gen port as it had great graphics.

Some of these aren't "big names", but off the top of my head for exclusives (as in not on PS4), Xbox has Nutjitsu next month, Sixty Second Shooter Prime next month, super Time Force in May/June. I'm sure there will be a Few more Indie surprises also. Those games don't even come close to what PS4 has from now through Summer though. Xbox has no "big " exclusives launching anytime soon unless Fantasia comes out this summer(?).

I'm sure they will ramp up marketing around release, and marketing that the game comes with the DOOM beta on next gen should move some units.
Interesting, Fantasia and Super Time Force look pretty good.

I posted the following in another thread, but I think it may very well apply here:

Can't really see the gap being 400K+ before the Fall. The multiplats that are coming are well known as being multiplats on both last gen and current gen consoles. I feel that exclusive games are what's going to make the gap change and those won't be coming until the Fall -- or, at least multiplats that are XB1/PS4 only.
It is really impossible to tell. Who knows what happens between now and October. Microsoft can announce a price drop, new games, etc. that might close the gap. On the other hand, Sony indeed enjoys advertising deals for big multiplatform games like Watch_Dogs and Destiny which may draw in new customers. Additionally, Sony might still have 'The Last of Us: Definitive Edition' and #DRIVECLUB this summer.

It's really impossible to tell what is going to happen next, as there are so many variables in play.
----------------------------------------------------------

Since that post, just a week ago, a few things changed already. For example, 'The Last of Us Remastered' was announced. Xbox, meanwhile, is going through some interesting changes.

Wolfenstein is out in June I believe, lots of people are super hyped for that.

May, before Watch Dogs.

what does Xbox One have to counter that?

Replace Wii U with Xbone

April and most of May is pretty dry but I'm looking forward to Wolfenstien and Watch_Dogs at the end of May. Octodad too, whenever it comes out.

May - Watchdogs, Wolfenstein
June - The Last of Us Remastered
July - Diablo III, Metro Redux
August - The Evil Within, Guilty Gear Xrd, Drive Club
September - Destiny, Deep Down
October - Batman Arkham Knight, Dragon Age 3
November - The Order, COD, Assassins Creed
December - Planetside 2, Beyond Directors Cut

I have a feeling Sony's line up will be something like that plus more indie games. As for Xbox One, similar to the above but change the exclusives with Sunset OverDrive, Halo 2 and Forza Horizon 2. I think Uncharted 4 and Quantum Break won't make it this year.

The gap will probably widen until something big hits again for MS. The Last of Us Remastered fits pretty well in June/July, I think it was a wise choice from Sony specialty since Uncharted 4 might not make it for 2014.

That actually look pretty good and realistic, add a couple of indies to the mix and its a very solid lineup.

Wow when you put it like that it shows how focused Sony this gen yet we still hear "haz no games lolz"

The people who say that have some sort of mental deficiency, or they're playing at something else. I get it, someone may not like the games on the platform, they may not care for indie titles; but to say that the platform has no game when it has more games released and more in development than the rival console, is really weird.

For some of us it's not enough to just have games that aren't on the rival console.

I'm just wondering if Microsoft will ever be smart enough to dedicate a studio to making a game to rival The Show? It actually has caused me to consider picking up a cheap ps3 or ps4 just to play a baseball game.

MS could do that right?

Don't forget Quantum Break on the XBOX side as well.
isn't Bound by Flame coming out soon?

Edit: May 9th
Yep, May 8th/9th, same week as The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which some people (myself included) are pretty hyped for.

Microsoft doesn't seem fond of first party studios', they prefer money hatting third party publishers for exclusive and timed content. Maybe Spencer will change that, he seems much better than the other people they've had running Xbox.

They said info was coming before E3 so it could be out this summer. I hope it is.

What do you mean by that?

Basically, some of us who complain about the lack of games on the PS4 also own an Xbox One, a WiiU and game on a PC. For me to play a game on the PS4 (or any console) it has to either only be available on a console or that particular console, or somehow be better than what I can get on PC.

Now, I'm not going to pretend that I'm part of an audience that is big enough for any of the console manufacturers to care about - but I'm just saying, that if you see people complaining about a lack of exclusives on places like NeoGAF (a forum of enthusiasts of which many game on multiple platforms) - then they may be in a similar situation to me.

The PS4 has plenty of games now and plenty of games coming out, but there's a very small number of them I have to own a PS4 for.

If InFamous outsold Titanfall, fucking meltdown. I don't think it did (US) but there is a possibility based on 1M sold and if so that's nuts.

This is the boat I'm in, and the PS4 / XBO lineups for 2014 are looking sparse as someone with a gaming PC. Crossing my fingers for some stuff at E3.

most of the indie games I play on PC so it leaves down a small portion that I play on my PS4, like above stated I am an owner of multiple console so I fluxiate between the the two, I played the crap out of infamous though really enjoyed that - but currently i find myself looking forward to indie games until E3 not so crazy bout the multi-platform titles coming out.

Wouldn't it be great if Driveclub came out next month? I'm not big on racers, but man, it would be nice to have another Sony exclusive before E3. My PS4 literally had dust on it that I had to wipe off before I used the NBA app. Maybe I need to broaden my horizons or something.

Don't you think that happens even more with Xbox One? All platforms fall into that to some degree.

I think there is no way it happened in NA.

Worldwide, since MS didn't say anything, I think its actually possible.

Forgot all about Spiderman. I'm down for anything open-world.

Lots of stuff coming in May. Still can't believe we're getting Transistor this soon.

stealth xbone has no games thread?

Aren't those facts? I just want to have an open discussion, I don't care for your feelings.

Last year Sony deal with Rockstar actually resulted in a rare case of PS3 selling more in US than Xbox 360, that is why I mentioned it, those things are relevant to the discussion.

Sony also partnering to promote Destiny, I didn't mention it because I wanted to focus only on the next 2 months, but do you think that is also irrelevant?

does not compute

Will a list be necessary? Or can you just face reality?

here it is anyway: of the released games for XO any game that isn't Ryse, Fighter Within, Sports Rivals, Crimson Dragon, DR3, Killer Instinct , Powerstar Golf and Forza 5 are available at other platforms.

If you followed the conversation you will understand that I am just answering someone. My answer is show that this happens with both consoles and might even be more prevalent in the Xbox One where even its biggest title, Titanfall, is available to be played on the 360 and PC.

My initial post was about games that are unique to one console in comparison to the other and that will be releasing in the next two months, quite relevant since they are direct competitors.

Okay. I'm hoping they finally have all those ID@Xbox games come out in May.

Agreed with the bold. Man, this fall is going to be STACKED for both sides, especially when you throw in the multiplats.

Yup. Leaks always win out nowadays

Lately there haven't been any major leaks. I hope Sony didn't think The Last of Us PS4 was something they had any right to be hyping at E3, at least.

There's a bit of wishful thinking here with some of the games placement, but still this is pretty impressive--and it doesn't even begin to cover all of the games. For instance, Middle-Earth looks decent and is due out the week before Arkham Knight.

Man, the incredibly slow early part of the year seems like it'll be balanced out by the avalanche of titles at the end of the year.

The people who say that have some sort of mental deficiency, or they're playing at something else. Eh, I said PS4 didn't really have much in January. But with Second Son out and Watch_Dogs out in like a month I don't make that complaint anymore. It's a slow year but it's also the first one.
