PS5 has a hidden secret feature that allows skipping logos after viewing them once when playing a game. It retains these settings even on a new save file.
Lance Mcdonald, who is well-known in the Souls community with his mods for the various games in the Souls series, has finally received his PS5 and shared some details including a hidden feature that automatically skips logos when starting the game.
According to Lance, once you boot up a game and see the studio logos, they won't appear again the next time. He likely means Demon's Souls here, which is a first-party game, however, we are not sure if this applies to other third-party games as well.
Lance also suggests that there might be a way to reset this setting, but so far he hasn't managed to figure it out yet.

That's actually really awesome... I dunno if every studio will like that their branding etc is not showing up anymore but I always find that I only want to know who made a game if it is really amazing and I need to know for the future...

This is awesome! Really should be the new norm for EVERY piece of media. I'm absolutely loving Yakuza Like A Dragon, but I absolutely hate having to sit and wait through the splash screens, lmao.

But if I go to the kitchen to get a fresh glass of Mountain Dew right after I launch a game for the first time, not expecting the lighting fast speeds of the custom SSD to quickly load the game, how will I know if a game is powered by the Unreal Engine or not?? Or FMOD and HAVOK physics????

This is actually fucking awesome! I've been waiting for this forever, no kidding. Intro-logos and other unnecessary shit they throw in there is a pet peeve of mine.

Is it only Sony games, or all?

I don't think it's only for Sony games, I recall seeing Assassin"s creed Valhalla do the same in a comparison video on youtube, the Series X version had the logo's but the ps5 version skipped them.

Nope, but those comparative videos of load speeds we are seeing those days, you can see the logos from Assassins or DMC5, so I suppose this only works with Sony games.

Lmao I was gonna reply to his post but he has already edited and retracted his statement.

But yeah, I dont see why your train of thought would be wrong.

It may actually, very well be, a thing for Sony first party games.

I dont see why third party developers have to agree to such a thing if they dont want that.

Thank god, put it in the fucking credits if it's not necessary for masking loads, I could not care less what technology helped produce the game every time I boot.

I wonder if Devs will get mad at Sony for implementing this? It is a "hack" of the sorts on PCs, devs seem to like to show you all their shitty screens.

I love that!

I hope that doesnt cause issues with tool makers. The reason those logos are there to begin with is its usually part of the devs licensing agreement.

I think its a flag that they can do with what they will. There will some commercial deals that dev's have with tech vendors that involves showing the logo's.

Damn, that's a nice feature.

Never occurred to me why I must watch developers logos, if I already bought their game. Just like with DVDs and those annoying unskipable copy-protection things, you only have when you bought the DVD.

I noticed it too in one of the loading screen comparison. So this is a secret feature everyone was talking about that was not revealed yet?

Here you can see the ps5 skip the logo's while series X still has them for Valhalla

Timestamped:

Those logos ... well quickresume also eliminates those, at least if you already played the game and not 4-5 others in between. But as nice this feature is, I really want to deactivate it, just to save the write-cycles on the SSD.

That's so true... It makes no sense
