Ok .. I really have no experience in Dark or Demon's Souls.. I bought it.

We will see how many times I die

The praise just pushed me to buy it

Tempted. Been wanting a new game for a bit, ever since I wrapped Skyrim. I know nothing about the game other than it's open world-ish and brutally difficult. I strongly prefer 1st person to 3rd, which is what's holding me back at the moment. I'll read up on it.

So hey, big question. I haven't tried this yet, or demon souls. I have Demon Souls free from PS+. Should I try that and see if I like it first, or is Dark Souls superior enough that I should just get this for $10 and skip Demon Souls.

The thing is, I get distracted by other games, so the idea that I would play both of them all the way through is probably false.

WHAT SHOULD I DO?

yeah it just being slow in the US. its finally up on the dashboard now listed at 600 pts, but when you go to buy it it's still 1200.

they'll fix that soon enough.

Is the expansion worth $15?

hold up. the DLC is going on sale. should be up soon if not already in your region hopefully.

ok DLC is up on the dashboard sales tab in the US. its still listed as 1200, but when you go to buy it, it's 600 pts. maybe put that int he Op too statham?

One of the finest games of this generation. Everyone who doesn't have one of the other platforms it's available on should get this.

Excite dude!

$10 for Dark Souls is a steal, definitely get it. Dark Souls overall does improve upon DeS but also consider the community in DaS is a lot more lively. So I'd say play DaS for the full experience and if you end up loving it then go back to play Demon's

They're both great games. Some people prefer Demon's

Buy it, I can give you pro tips and general gameplay pointers to get you going and help you over the more frustrating and confusing game mechanics.

Is rhere ant reason to get this on xbox instead of pc?

There is a larger player base on consoles, PS3 has the most, Xbox second, then PC which is pretty dead and the netcode for connecting players is the worst of all three. The summon sign fix for friends is nice, but it doesn't help the general experience of random invasions and summons, which is where the game really shines.

If you plan on getting really invested in the online aspect, Xbox version is better than PC imo.
Also, there are some very nefarious hacks that people can use on PC, modifying weapons that can lower your stats just by hitting you, essentially breaking your character. If you have save backups you will be fine, but you have to deal with a lot of cheaters and modders on Xbox and PC, but the PC version has the much more insidious mods that can literally break your game.

I'm seriously considering wasting money on a double dip (got it for PC), but I keep coming back to the question of whether I'll be able to finish the game on PC and 360 before Dark Souls 2 comes out. It would be nice to be able to play online with my friend who has the 360 version. How's the multiplayer for 360? Can you connect to friends without being in a covenant?

It's pretty consistent connecting with a friend. As long as you are within their soul level range you should see their summon sign pretty easily. Just make sure you agree on a spot to put it down, so it will be a little out of the way of general traffic and have better chances of seeing and connecting to your friend. Once you put a sign down, leave it down for at least a couple minutes, if it doesn't show up, refresh and wait again. If it still doesn't show up, have both of you quit to dashboard and reboot the game. Then repeat the process and it should work.

Once you connect the first time, subsequent summons will be much quicker and more consistent as long as you stay in the same session. I have done full playthroughs of the game in co-op with a few different friends, and it definitely works all the way through as long as you stay within soul range and follow those suggestions for summoning. It gets even easier in later game areas because there is less player traffic and invasions in general.

Gonna pick this up tonight. I played last year and really didn't like it, but hopefully I'll like it more this time. Going to take it slower, more experimental.

If the game would allow some kind of controlled co-op like friend invite or party chat I would buy it again to play it with my friends on 360 who are buying it now

You can bypass the no party chat option by initiating a private chat instead. It works wonders when you're coordinating with a friend. The only downside is that I believe private chat only works with one person as far as I know. I kind of understand why they removed party chat; it doesn't work with the design of the game since you would be cheating by communicating verbally.

It's nice to see people checking this game out. I never played Demon's Souls because I don't have a PS3, but Dark Souls is a pretty damn good game aside from a couple of latter sections in the game that aren't as good as the first half. I usually like to help people defeat bosses but let the host player land the killing blows to be courteous.

You'll spend most of the time dying but in a good way. I'm eagerly anticipating Dark Souls II to be as good if not better. Hell, I bought the premium theme for this game out of a whim and it looks pretty damn good.

I have this on pc but can't get the pos to run above 1024x576 might have to pick this up since I have a bunch of space bucks and it will actually be playable.

EDIT: how long is this deal on for?

Prepare yourself for the disillusionment.

Know thou art getting a slightly easier game than its predecessor.

Know that thou will meet invaders who will decimate thee when thou convert to human form and en route to summon help before a boss battle.

Know that thou shall experience some of the finest atmosphere in gaming.

Know thou art immortal.

Know death.

Until next tuesday morning "early", like 10am GMT. So make sure you buy it before monday midnight just to be sure.

bought it! cost me like $3.50. Except I have a full time job so I dunno when I'll play it.

play it a couple hours here and there when you have time. You can usually make it from bonfire to bonfire in that amount of time. It really isn't that insane if you pay attention and learn from your mistakes.

I picked this up earlier today. After playing Dragon's Dogma I find this game a bit rough around the edges. The controls, graphics, and animation are not as polished.

Keep playing, you will get used to the controls and start to love them. The performance leaves much to be desired, but it's worth dealing with because everything else is awesome.

But unlike Dragon's Dogma, the difficulty is consistent throughout the entire game. Whereas Dragon's Dogma is challenging for about an hour.

In my opinion, Dark Souls shits all over Dragon's Dogma. Both in animation and graphics.

I just couldn't help myself at this price and bought it. I tried renting Dark Souls once and didn't have the fortitude to deal with the difficulty. I hope I do this time around!
