PSA Final Fantasy XI - Still Going Strong, New Expansion this week!

Nope, Rise of the White Raven is a Soken piece. Mizuta only composed two themes for XIV 1.XX,:

My bad then, thanks for the clarification.

Gotta say Soken seems to be doing a great job too. Im just nostalgic about Mizuta :p

But that's normal, Mizuta did an awesome job with the music of FFXI. 7 years have pased since I left the game, but I have very warm memories of the world, the music and the ambience (not so much of the wasted hours waiting for parties lol)
I still buy the OST CDs that have been released. I never got to hear the music ingame since ToAU, but man, what a music... <3

In fact, as a non player, the thing I most enjoyed from the new expansion announcement was that a new CD would be released, yay!

EDIT: Just saw the new art. Very amused with the FF3 style GEO equipment. I was a little sad when the job was announced but the outfit had nothing to do with the previous Geomancer incarnations.

Oh gosh, I'm having such a laugh right now.

For some reason on their buy website they have pics of people with empyrean weapons, but look at their armor...

If I am Rihanna, this would be me going back to Chris Brown.

Thankfully I am not her. This game was magnificent 2% of the time. The other 98% was a clusterfuck of relying on other people to do a job that they never did, as well as ridiculously overpowered enemies, a fucked up economy and a craft system that was crafted to screw the crafter.

Thanks for the good memories FFXI. I hope you've changed, but I'll never go back.

It has changed, quite a bit.

That's what they all say, Aeana...that's what they all say. Then they're out and about, and come home with lipstick on their collar and stinking of Chanel and Jack Daniels, and when you ask 'em where they've been you end up crying on the couch with a bag of frozen peas on your eye.

Eat Gysahl Greens, Move Faster.

If that's the effect, I'll get the collectors, if not then I'll get the normal.

This is surprisingly accurate. Gosh, there is something wrong with me that I continue.

Sounds a lot like the real world.

That link is for the Ultimate Collection though. The screenshot was one of the first released for the Abyssea Add-on, before the armors were put in the game.

Well, it's actually the "Adoulin" bundle one that they just put up there a few days ago. Still is funny though if that's the case, they could do to update the screenshots.

Wow, this week. It's been a couple years now. Left with PLD, RDM, BLU, MNK and SAM at 99. I'm pretty sure I was in the middle of something important like upgrading a weapon or gear. This is probably my favorite FF, all of the great writing and art design square was known for went into this game. I feel sorry for anyone who refused to learn the controls and mechanics along with the "It's not really a FF game because it's online / not turn based" crap.

I like how the DRK had a 2h sword main. I used that WS religiously.

Questions:
Is there a full world map showing all the places explored and unexplored so far?

Also is there a FF11 radio station for just 11 music/remixes?

I was checking the Meeble Burrows gear (assuming that's the popular thing right now) and I'm pretty dissapointed tbh, NNI and VW seems to be still the king in that regard, meh.

I want melee stuff for whm dammit!

I must be the only person unaffected by Jeuno music.. and that stream reminds me that Jeuno will never be as crowded and active as it was in the heyday of level 50-60 cap.

Port Jeuno has been the main hub town since Abyssea. Every place else is a ghost town.

Tempting to start a new character. Will I still have to do subjob quest at level 18/other job quests after level 30? Same with the level cap at 50 etc?

Yep, but nowadays people level from 12/13 to 30ish in Gusgen Mines, and one of the items for the subjob quest is a frequent drop in those parties... alliances, actually. And once you're done it's easy to solo the other items as needed.

And the day's barely begun and Bluegartr's already down...

I wanted to check that topic about installation issues to make sure I installed the thing correctly from the digital download, since in the times I've logged in since then I got a message about the new content not being installed - I got the install file from the SE store, selected a temporary folder for it to download files and ran the installation from there, bu now I'm wondering if I should have picked the folder where the game's installed already or something...

So is the game currently in maintenance? Trying to log in to PlayOnline and getting an error after multiple attempts

I never hit any of the caps.

I really wanted to get there and see all the story stuff....

Maybe I'll hop back in soon.

That stream is LOWER JEUNO! Congestion hell is in PORT! That stream in not indicative at all of how many people are on lol.

I always thought Lower Jeuno was always congested because of the AH. That not the case anymore? Also, I remember ports being busy, but the way to get around was teleports and chocos.

I always loved this game. I think I have the last 'complete' edition they came out with that had all the little mini-expansions and Abyssea stuff.

I never did any of it. I always had a hard time finding a group to play with. I had one other friend and we'd play together, but it was impossible to find high level help to get through some of the rank missions and stuff.

I'd love to play again, but I'm afraid the ship has sailed. I can't even imagine what starting a new character would be like now. I'm also not really trying to drop $30 or whatever it would cost to get caught up with content. Will always have fond memories of it, though.

There is an AH of every area of Jeuno, and there always has been.
They've also now linked all auction houses together, so you can look at the same stuff no matter where you are.

Port is busy because of that's where the Abyssea NPCs are. Back when Abyssea first came out, it wasn't unusual to see half the people on the server in Port Jeuno.

That's pretty awesome about linked AHs, but I don't remember their being an AH on every level. One in Lower and another in Ru'Lude Gardens. Not denying the fact they are in every zone, just remember everyone and their brother in Lower Jeuno. Could be that everyone just congregated there all of the time. Port was only ever used for transport to other cites and Ru'Lude was for Dynamis stuff and like one or two quests at most.

This, btw, is circa 2005. I understand things can and have changed in game.
