I suppose Xbox Live has a 2-step authentication, hasn't it?
Yes
I suppose Xbox Live has a 2-step authentication, hasn't it?
Yeah, it just happened to me for the first time ever, I don't really know what to feel. I guess some asshole hacked my account and made a great series of purchases (over $300 worth) at my expense. Obviously, I immediately called my bank, declared those charges fraudulent, canceled the card and deleted it from my PSN account. Still, it sucks having to go through all this because despite all the bumfuckery concerning PSN, Sony still has not been able to properly secure their network.
So, yeah not to happy at the moment.
If your bank is doing a chargeback you're about to have your account banned and lose all of your digital licenses. I would have called Sony first even though they are barely any help at all with these things.
Sony needs 2-step verification, it's a bit ridiculous in 2016.
You should. It's a 30 second hassle to type in your CC info, but infinitely less hassle than potentially dealing with bank and Sony customer services for hours.
With mail forwarding, it always amazes me why people dont have seperate email addresses for every service they use, never mind passwords.
My psn email never gets used for anything else.
I really need to remove my cc info. Is it an easy process?
Because Occam's razor says there has not been a hack here. So nope, it wouldn't have happened. What would that change? The account could still be hacked without 2-Step verification.

Wonderful...
I'm chatting with support now, let's see what they have to say.
The thought of keeping up with an additional 15+ email addresses in addition to passwords is making my head spin. My gmail has 2-factor auth. If that's not enough then I give up.
Call RIGHT AWAY and explain the whole situation and tell them you did the chargeback before you knew that it would get you banned.
Don't take no for an answer, demand to speak to a supervisor.
Do not get off the phone no matter how frustrated you get. They are not allowed to end the call. Just keep insisting.
The unfortunate reality of call centers is that the policies are setup to reward the people who act like dicks. So act like a dick. Sucks for the rep you get, but you have no other choice. If you are nice, they will make a ticket, and nothing will ever happen.

Is two-step authentication coming anytime soon?

Seems like every time this happens, the person is reluctant to answer this question. So how did your PSN account get compromised?
A lot of 'hacks' are folks reusing passwords. So they make an account on WeDontKnowSecurity.com. that account is compromised because they live up to their name and it happens the folks use the same email anf pw for psn.
My own default is a generated password for sites i don't care about saved in a password service and all my important stuff has a unique password i type in. But 2 factor is also supet importany and cuts down on many possibe compromises.
So we need to massively go here and ask for 2 step authentication.
Edit: there's already a submission for it actually. It goes way back from May 21, 2014...

Well a few posts above they pretty much made it known that it was possibly their CC info that was compromised, not their PSN account.Seems like every time this happens, the person is reluctant to answer this question.
Good luck with your account OP.

Alright, right now I'm speaking with a representative through chat but I may call them. As of right now those charges do not appear on my PSN account, only my bank account lists the charges under pending. Thus, it could be that my card information was stolen and someone used it on their own PSN account to buy shit or the charges just haven't appeared under my account just yet.
And, now I've just been given a claim number and was just told to call them if the charges do appear on my PSN account and I get banned.
Lolmaybe in 2020. its the same update that lets you change your psn ID
Can you go into your PSN account and download those games? Or do they not appear at all in your game history?
Sorry op, but yea like everyone else Sony needs 2 step verification. For my Microsoft account in have an app that everytime i log into my account I get a notification on my phone that allows me to approve or deny a log in request.Yeah, it just happened to me for the first time ever, I don't really know what to feel. They don't appear in any game or transaction history.

Hopefully your PSN account wasn't compromised then and just your card that you can cancel and do a charge back so you don't have to deal with Sony at all.
Then nobody got into you PSN account, and instead your credit card details were stolen by someone.
Doing that now. The fuck are people taking about a ban?

If you use a CC and delete the info after, does that help or is it redundant?
At least we got another few votes for two-factor authentication out of this mix up.![]()
