PSN Content 02/21/08

I too have been recently validated yet I've been following these threads for quite a long time. At least six months. I'm hoping we'll get Dark Mist soon.
 
Dark Mist would be cool... I don't want to spend a part of my jap ticket on a game that's gonna see a US release.....

It's about time we get the Pixel Junk Monsters demo, it's really a really good game.

well yesterday there have been like tones of games on the eu servers. No matter what time of day i log on there are always some games running. Tekken 5 online will be dead when tekken 6 online arrives.

New free PAIN content today

I am actually writing this update in LAX because my flight was just delayed for an hour AGAIN (I am headed to the Game Developers Conference). This past month has been quite the journey. I must admit that it has been a learning experience that wasn't as PAINless as I initially expected. The good news is that if you are still with us then that update is right around the corner. Right around the corner like Thursday the 21st of Feb. This update includes the leader board reset (and the fix to the score exploit) It also includes the Free Single Player Fun With Explosives Mode and Hung Lo.

Single Player Fun with Explosives comes complete with it's own Leaderboard too. Lets see how long it takes for you guys to beat my personal score. I will also answer a few questions (demands) that I have been promising everyone for a while. I hope this will shed some light on what is going on with our PAIN.

Other territories:

PAIN will be released in Europe and is translated into English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. We will enable these languages in the American version as well. We did the work so if you would rather play PAIN in a different language feel free.

PAIN is also being released in Asia (except for Japan). Although I hear we might release there as well. More news when I know it.

In the Lab

Last time I spoke to you all I said that I would tell you what came out of the meetings we had with Idol Minds about the future landscape of PAIN. Coke and myself spent a solid week plotting content updates with the PAIN crew. So on a very high level here are the highlights:

Multiplayer
Since everyone told us we suck and need to have Multiplayer in PAIN we agreed. Modes like Horse, Fun With Explosives, Bowling will be playable for 1-4 players over the PSN. So no more posting about this gang. Message received. You can challenge other people across the net with our next Environment.

Replays
Originally our plans were to do a pretty advanced replay system. We decided to handle multiplayer first due to the amount of requests we got for multiplayer from you guys and the press. We will be doing Replay support (a very robust one) in the near future. When we have fully designed what we are doing here I will share.

New Modes
We agreed that in a new Environment there are PAIN skill sets that must be cultivated. Ooching, Throwing, Grabbing etc.. So although a mode might appear different in a new environment it will reinforce skills you have learned in other PAIN Environments.

New Gameplay Elements
Some multiplayer modes could have more interaction. Modes like Bowling are much more fun because the players who are not being launched can be foiled by the other players… elements like….

Pimp Slapping
Should be in every videogame. But since we are only in control of PAIN it should be in PAIN. There is nothing quite a PAINful as a pimphand. And a pimp slap is funnier when it has baby powder attached to it. It's also very important to keep said hand strong.

Oh yeah… and if you happen to be at the Game Developers Conference come see us at the Sony Both. We just might have a cool PAIN T-Shirt for you. I also have 5 shirts I plan on giving out to the Top 5 responders to this posting. If you can:

1. Suggest a cool way of integrating a Pimp slap into PAIN. (I already have my ideas)
2. Post the funniest top 5 lessons you learned in PAIN.
3. Explain what funny sound effects should be in the next update

Finally something to justify my purcahse of this game, I always felt like I didn't get my money's worth, now I will complain no more. :D
 
Goshdarnit! Europe still has to wait till the 6th of March. But! I'm sure we will get the game with the free upgrade you're getting in the US right now, so I think that's fair.

Europe update today still sucks monkeyballs. :(

This is the damn truth. I tried to play some games last week... there were literally only five people logged in on Friday at peak gaming times.

I own rockband, past month+ of DLC has sucked.

Again, here is hoping I have a reason to make sure my PS3 is on when I get home today.

I thought the wording was strange but blamed it on my mental condition at the moment. It sounded more like you'll need to buy/download a new environment to be able to play online... ah whatever I'm completely lost today.

Beautiful Banner! Always love those. Yeah I say $25-30 for Wipeout HD. I wouldn't mind paying for such a beauty. I also like to have some Dark Mist. Will be getting all the RockBand DLC this week since the Oasis Pack.

Wonder if we'll get a surprise today since it's GDC week.

Just READ IT, you won't be sorry. Someone gave you a link to a wiki, be careful, i didn't check it but watch out for spoilers.

And i still have no idea what the PSN game is all about, first time i heard of it, gonna check.

EDIT: A movie of this (it's been sort of "in the making" or "in planning" for several years now) could be all kinds of awesome.
 
Disappointing week for Europe, but the past weeks have been okay. I'm really looking forward to Dark Mist! Also Wipeout HD looks amazing. I would pay about 20 euro for it personally.

The only other PSN game I have that works via remote play is High Stakes Poker. I don't have some of the earlier PSN games.

There's always Lair, I guess... :D

PJM is worth every penny. It's one of those games where you don't need a demo for it. Have fan while trying it ^_^

It seems the US update isn't that good either.
 
Looks like this week will come and go with nothing interesting from Sony on any level. I guess the MGS online previews were interesting.
 
There has probably been more Guitar Hero and Rock Band content released on the PSN since those games came out than all other playable content combined.
