At first I was pissed, but now it's just kind of funny.

I've had a PS3 for two weeks, and last Thursday's update gave me lofty expectations.

Does this happen often?
...so much to learn. :lol

Yes. They raise our hopes and then dash them quite expertly.

*huff puff* Sorry guys! We were so bizzay prepping our E3 content that we totally forgot there are people out there waiting on PSN THURRRSDAY! As promised, we now give you the long-awaited Trailer of a Sneak Peek of a Tutorial on downloading the hottest movie trailers, right HERE on PSN!

You know I've been wondering, rather than making a new topic every week, why don't we make an official mega thread just like the XBLA thread or the Wii VC thread?

Maybe the upload is just taking a while because the demos are so large and full of awesomeness?

Probably not. Jim any PR yet or wha?

Naw, it's not that bad - seeing as how I have a launch PS3, most of those weeks were filled with movie trailers and false hope. :lol

However, now that things are picking up in PS3 land, I expect more frequent updates - I wouldn't worry...too much. :lol

Stuff will probably be pretty dang underwhelming this week thanks to the awesomeness of last week and the extreme awesomeness of E3 next week.

Next Friday we'll be probably crying about Sony putting so much great stuff that the assaulted PSN was too weak to resist and died just when the Killzone 2 demo appeared :lol :lol

The complete lack of update? No.

Awesome updates like last week? No.

Crappy weeks with one or two movie trailers? Yeah, all the time.

You are wise beyond your years.

I don't see how anybody can be truly disappointed with PSN, at least in comparison with the other consoles' online offerings. XBLA is doing pretty well now, but it's had a year lead time on the other two to ramp up content. IMO, Sony is catching up a lot faster and offering more overall in the same time frame. Anyone who remembers the early days of XBLA on the 360 can tell you how much lag time there was between good releases. You should only be so luck to get SSHD!

Virtual Console is just an emulation wasteland.

Hey, I've had my PS3 for ten days now! Then again, when I picked up my 360 was when the apparently awful XBLA drought ended so I expect to work my magic again (and SSHD is a damn good start).

I don't quite get the point of the trailers. Are they ever going to have full video content or is the big HDD just for downloadable stuff? Even I've "rented" a movie or two from XBL whenever it was late and I was waiting on Netflix (unfortunately, they have about three good HD movies).

They are, actually. There's going to be an announcement at E3 most likely.

Well, there's a couple differences between the services and how that would affect the maintenance of the thread.

XBL gets frequent and a variety of different content so a running thread works well. It helps people keep track of stuff and not miss content if they don't check every day.

VC gets new games and only (not DLC, trailers, etc.) gets games every week and have standard pricing so it also lends well to a big thread. This is also easily organized in a list.

First, I only include gaming content in the list.

Also, there are a lot of people who are interested in deciding to purchase something and the thread lends itself to getting people's impressions on different PSN titles.

Talking about demos and things to that effect lend themselves to an update (smaller) thread as the number of people downloading the demos don't really lend themselves to their own thread.

PSN content comes one time a week and has a variety of content. The scheduling and type of content lends itself well to a weekly thread. We don't usually have a lot of information on what is coming from official sources so creating a thread every week helps us collect information and talk about what may be coming out.

That being said, if there is a demand for it. I can try and create something that will work.

But I think for now, adding the index that people can check and only having to go through about 5 pages of posts for any given week is much more research-friendly.

I love the weekly PSN threads...it works perfectly. At least i think so.

Yeah, definitely keep the weekly threads - I don't have time to sort through a ton of pages and find the start/end point of the previous week, so I really enjoy these.

It can't be weekly if sony won't actually add new content weekly.

This is the first week that the PlayStation Store hasn't been updated since when? I've done my share of bitching about lackluster updates, but it's a holiday week and a few days until E3. It's understandable they wouldn't do an update today.

Sony could have handled it a little better by issuing a press release earlier this week hyping next week's E3 updates while letting it drop there wouldn't be an update this week due to the holiday and pre-E3 rush, but still, the lack of an update today is perfectly reasonable.

If they give us live video from E3 (or even delayed an hour or so), and new trailers and the demo for at least one of Heavenly Sword, Lair, or Devil May Cry 4 next week then all will be forgiven.
I would love to see an E3 section in Home beta.

it would be cool if someone from sony could at least come forward and say something.

it's sort of a drag that we're not getting anything this week, but i'm sure that sony will really pour it on during e3.

So I guess you'll still hold a grudge come August?

Yeah, work was really light today...so I guess they're excused for the holidays.

Bring it next week Sony. You damn well better.

I'm calling it a failure if there aren't Lair & Heavenly Sword demos.

/me thinks of a Major Nelson esque "Thursday is the day when content is posted, but it doesn't mean there will be something every Thursday"

They fu**ing better. I live in constant (unjustified) fear they will remove Fl0w before I buy it!

I dont care if there will be no updates this week as long as we have a MEGA HUGE update come E3 week.

**** those assholes for taking the Fourth of July off, I'm a selfish bastard and I need the instant gratification of a content update now!

:lol You're joking right? On the off-chance that you're not, don't worry they're not gonna remove Flow anytime soon. Kelle Santiago from thatgamecompany announced in the Full Moon Show that Flow was the number 1 download on PSN a couple of weeks ago (SSHD will probably pass it ; P).

There's now a playable demo of Nucleus/Bacterius up on the JP store (and the full game for those of you who can buy games from the JP store).
