Edit: Wrong thread
What is this PSN 2.0 exactly?
How is it worse? Obviously none of us have access to graphs showing peak periods, but it is reasonable to assume that peak time is after school finishes and after work is done for the day.
6PM-1AM wipes every worker out of playing and the kids can only get a short amount in before their din-dins.
For the US that'd be 1PM-8PM on the East coast and 10AM-5PM on the West. So East coast workers can get some late night action in and West coast kids and workers are unaffected.
Not seeing how it is worse?
Unfortunately you're going to have to piss off someone with these things. Ideal solution would be to rotate who you're pissing off rather than shafting the same people all the time.
I'm not damage control anything, you plain out said it inconvenience you. I just asked you why?I'm not just talking about me and you, I'm talking about everyone including the less informed. How can you damage control this archaic garbage is beyond me.
You can. Often they word it 'signed in recently', this explicitly says you have to be signed in as it commences, so may be a little different to normal but it still remains that it is possible to play online during the maintenance. No you can't.
Down during Columbus day. Awful timing.
During Christmas 2007 XBL was effectively unusable for over 2 weeks. Not sure why people seem to have such short memories of this.
Yes, you can. Sign in prior, turn of said system following day you can still play.Unfortunately, why this needs to happen monthly is beyond me. Possibly need to rewrite the entire network, however schedule maintenance isn't really a huge issue. Now how the network crumbles on a Tuesday is a load of crap. I don't see this maintence helping this situation any time soon.
You can do the monthly maintenanceDone the Raid (normal and hard), the Nightfall, the Weekly Heroic strike at Level 28, and Iron Banner is useless/broken.
What do I do now?
I see. But wouldn't that make it less impactful? You're off work/school, you have the entire day to game around the maintenance window or easier access to sign in prior to the window opening to then remain online, compared to those in the EU/UK who wouldn't be home in time to turn on and sign in.Its thanksgiving holiday in Canada next monday...

No, you don't have to leave it on at all. Matter a fact if you signed in usually about a day or two prior it will be enough to play online. However, that morning all you have to do is log in long enough to get into psn then turn it off. It will work later. So I have to turn it on in the morning, then go out to work and leave it on all day?
Technically, you are right, but realistically, most people won't be able to play online.
I hope they fix all the shit that has plagued the PS4 and Destiny.
Hopefully they fix the PSN lag.
Ok, you have other commitments that doesn't give you 2 min to turn on and off your console? I want them to step up as well, but you started out saying things like this is annoying you. Which really made me wonder, why? The way you came off didn't give me the impression it was beneficial to everyone but to yourself. You never made a comment saying something with positive criticism.I work for a start, then have other commitments. I'm criticising because I want them to step up, get better servers and so forth. Beneficial to us all.
I have not experienced much lag in games, sometimes playing PvP in destiny. I think the biggest issues is down time on service, like chat, messages and just being able to jump on games on a launch day. I also deleted tons of friends just so my usual group would come up.Lag in games? Lag in the PS4 menus?
They're referring to the new firmware.

Can anyone explain (or has Sony ever tried to) why people already logged on can keep playing online but they won't allow further log ins?
I came in to say this. The awful time loading anything PSN related (friends, messages, invites, etc.), if you don't get a "server timed out" message, have been so frustrating for the past few weeks.Hopefully they fix the PSN lag.

Alright, sorry. Have a good day.I've already said to you it wasn't just about me or you but everyone including the less informed who don't think on to turn a system for 2 mins for this. How much more clear can I be ? I noticed you have ignored my comments about even Nintendo's service not doing this as often. I've said enough. I cannot be any clearer.
Alright, sorry. Have a good day.
You're bringing up something that happened 7 years ago. Think about that for a moment.
Yeah. Columbus Day is on monday. Not smart idea when the NA is on a holiday. Hopefully 2.0 is gearing for release next week then.
In the context that "XBL never has had extended outages."
Lag in games? Lag in the PS4 menus?
As long as you are signed in prior to maintenance you can play online and sometimes can play online anyway. So what's the problem?

Anything related to community like friend requests/messages and friend lists. They load so slow now.
What's the difference between being down for maintenance and the flawed service that's currently there.

Jeesus fucking christ. Xbox Live had probably two or three maintenance breaks during 2006-2013 when I mained on it. PSN is down like every fucking month for a whole evening? What are they doing? Rebuilding indexes by hand?
They announce the maintenance.
This hopefully will be gearing up for launch of 2.0
I only had about 30 friends, it loaded eventually just took a while. The messages usually showed up about a few minutes later.Either I'm just lucky, or you guys have way more friends than me? I've got about 100 friends, and the only problems I've seen in recent weeks have been my friends list loading up a little slow here and there. I'm talking slow as in 3-5 seconds. That's it.
I'm in the central U.S for what it's worth.
