So PC being lead and VITA and Mobile for the other 2.
Take that, consoles?

Wait I can play this on a god damn phone?
In Japan, that makes perfect sense. Rest of the world? Not sure. Is this pointing to PSO2 staying in Japan?

Is it? Even guys like Falcom aren't making stuff for the PC in Japan anymore
I don't think so. Sega warmed up to the F2P model with Spiral Knights, so I can see them bringing over PSO2 using it as well.
Smartphone version seems to have the same data, but will be setup for solo play with social connectivity.
Phones before Vita?
As for the vita:
- It's for the players who dont have an up to date pc
- or for pc players who want to play on the go
- Updates can be downloaded to the vita
- The graphics will be toned down a little but according to Sakai, the game runs fine
For the smartphone
- you can check your mail
- or check the status of your shop
it's not the main game, but the social aspect of your game.

Thaaaaat's me- It's for the players who dont have an up to date pc
So is it 100% confirmed that PC and Vita will share servers?
Going F2P is an excellent move. The reborn, reformed Sega just keeps knocking them out of the park.
...Launch the Western version on Steam's F2P portal, pretty please?
Wow, free to play model. I'm shocked.

PSP2 and PSPi's DLC must have made them a ton of money for them to decide to go the freemium route.
Sega will make a lot more with PSO from microtransactions and free to play. Common-sense at last!
Now ... about that PS3/360 Western release!

From PSO-World.com:
Fixed for hopes and dreams.
This game is in such a weird spot. It's not coming out till around late this year and that's Japan only, and probably won't see a western release till next. Now it's in this nebulous thing like PSU was to an extent except this is PC lead thankfully.
I mean what consoles do they target if any? The current ones or the new ones coming since the game won't be out till when the Wii U is hitting, and probably when the 720 is hitting by time it gets localized.
It's also screwed cause paying for a game especially on the PC that's not a full blown MMO and even for many that are seems to be going by the way side for all but the biggest of big names. Plus it'll be releasing in a post Diablo post Guild Wars 2 world where people will be playing those games without monthly fees. Yet if it goes F2P for PCs wtf do they do for consoles since consoles aren't exactly the beacon of F2P on that front.
Not to mention I highly doubt people are going to want to pay a monthly fee on top of paying for the game on a handheld like the Vita.
IDK WTF Sega should do with PSO2.
Yeah, I do want it on consoles.
Hopes rest on E3 for that and a Western release. You are doing so well with PSO again finally Sega, don't fuck that up.
Its PSO and Its Freemium.
For Japan I fully understand their choice but not having a PS3/360/Wii-U version for the US/EU is crazy and they would be missing out of lots of cash.

If its Free to Play Microsoft doesnt care. Also Sega already has a Guardian license for PSU on the 360.After hearing MMO stories from 360's end, I'm pretty sure they would be wasting cash rather than missing it. Sony might not allow other mmos because they're trying to push their own stuff, but that's possible.

The fact the game has 360 buttons in it says a lot. I know a lot of people use the 360 controller as a gamepad but still.
Sega has shown they are not stupid and considering PSU is still making cash on the 360 it will probably hit consoles in the west.

Beta starts 2nd half of April.
Character creator available April 5th
They'd have to make the thing multitouch firstIf Nintendo didn't totally burn their bridges with Sega and PSO over the GameCube network adaptor fiasco, a Wii U version would be perfect.
One of the few games that fits perfectly with the tablet controller straight away. Way better inventory management, touchscreen keyboard for chat. PSO is a perfect for for it.
If Nintendo are serious about the Nintendo Network, I'd like to think PSO2 will be part of it.
