PSP 1.50 Discussion (new rules, reread)

A demo of starting the Sony OS from a homebrew program is linked in a post at PS2dev. This could eventually allow a "virtual 2.x" loader, in case new BIOS functionality is needed.

Several people are playing the psp-dev rip now...The game is out on next Tuesday. Haven't heard anything about the framerate so far and I guess that if I posted this I would be banned.

a little bird told me that it works on fastloader, but the game is capped at 30 FPS, no matter what setting you use in fastloader. it has a 1.52 update but it still runs on fastloader

Damn. No wonder the game looks better than RR, the took the PGR2 train. That sucks. Oh well, saves me money. No 60fps=no buy. I'll get my fill from Revenge on the big screen.

30FPS, damn... It's not as jarring on a small screen, but still, it's so nice when a racer runs on 60FPS on PSP. Ridge Racer and 333mhz Wipeout Pure = awesomeness.

I pity you frame rate whores, I dont even see the difference between 30 and 60 and I couldnt care less...better graphics all the way for me.

As "Monk" would say - It's a blessing... and a curse.

On a downside, you will never know the feeling when it seems like the game sings to you when it moves unbelievably smooth over a large screen.

OH SNAP!

hmm.... wonder if this is real? 1.52 owners rejoice!

for those who cant see it: here is the readme.txt

Homebrew Fixed 1.52 by DaggerX

Fuck WAB PSP-Dev and all other pussies bitching around.
No need for a crap downgrader, use this to launch homebrew on 1.52
THIS DOESN'T WORK ON 2.0

I did this just for proving WAB and all other lamers that the downgrade is useless.

Don't bitch about if this is fake, it's not.

DaggerX

I know the fuckers at WAB asked for money, but i need it too. So if you're kind enough to send a few spare bucks via PayPal I'll accept them.

PayPal -> daggerxpsp@gmail.com

Release Date: Next week, can be earlier if I get some donations.

Hay guyz, I got Halo 2 running on PSP. Paypal me and I'll release it next week!

EDIT: Can anyone that followed the development of the Xbox scene tell me if everything was this petty and juvenile then, too?

the pettiness is pretty much exclusive to sony scenes...

At least it seems mostly confined to the portion of the homebrew scene working on these downgraders & loaders.

The early days of Xbox scene is fascinating. A lot of really serious coders were involved. There's a great book on reverse engineering called "Hacking the Xbox" that has interviews with them.

09-09-2005 : AloneTrio Arrested by Police :(
Today at 7h00 PM, AloneTrio ( Founder of WAB ) have been arrested in Paris by police. Even Familly have no more infos about the arrestation. At the moment we can't say if it's about PSP activities ( like the already spreaded rumour ) or old past computer hacking activities. It seem that Yoshihiro have not been arrested for the moment. Like you see, wab.com is always online. More info on the site when we got it.

We all keep our fingers crossed for AloneTrio...

What an ingenius way to get out of delivering on the downgrader :lol

"The cops are coming for me so I can't release it"

I guess thats what happens when you hack a major corparations device, give it to everyone, then ask for donations, then post pics of yourself all over the place.

:lol

hope you get out of jail dude!

"AloneTrio looks like the best handheld hacker out there when you just look at the screenshots," says Gaming Age Forum user 'MrBob,' "But when you see it move and it looks exactly like the 1.52 version in motion it makes you go :("

:/ Can anyone point to me where I can find fastloader and how to use it? I was gonna upgrade to 2.0 but everyone kept insisting I keep it for the homebrew. Now I'm also gonna be getting Bleach 2 tomorrow and that'd force me to use 1.52, but I hear that you can get around that. I'd also like to take advantage of improved load times.

Okay, so I got fastloader working as a firmware bypass, but how do I take advantage of it for actual ISO loading? To be more specific on what I'm curious about, how do you dump and use them? I tell it to dump it and it does, but afterwards it just goes back to the dump prompt D: In any case, the ability to OC to 333 is extremely nice, but now to cut down on those load times.

did you read the readme?

I have never used the dumper in fastloader, but in an older program, it just made a .iso file. Just cut and paste it into the ISO dir.

Woohoo, finally figured it out! Stupid me for the most part, but damn, every game nearly has no loading now. The only hitch here was Dynasty warriors and it was that the music wouldn't loop. With that said, I finally have a reason to open up and use that 1gig MS I got from IBM :D

wow, that looks real to me too
Amen. Watched it twice and can't find anything wrong with it. This is good news, since this keeps homebrew alive better than having it restricted to only 1.0/1.5 models.

So, I just downloaded fastloader and it works, but the way the directory is build up means that i have to look at an currupted data pic everytime I look under the memorystick section under game in the psp. I used the 31 spaces trick with my NES and SNES emu's, but fastloader won't let me do the same. It won't boot any longer if I use the trick on it. Any other way?
