which one is better?

i'm not a big figher fan. but i tried my friend's imported GGXX PSP and liked it a lot. excellent gfx, awesome awesome music, pretty tight control, and accessible gameplay that a newbie like me can pull out some flashy combos. too bad they haven't released a us version, yet.

i havent tried sfa3 max. i played sfa3 on emulators from time to time. never got very deep into it.

for someone like me, not so hardcore but enjoyed playing 2d fighters from time to time, which game is more suitable? will they release GGXX in the states? i don't pay the extra money to import it.

Good question. I'm interested in this.

I've never been a 2d fighting fan other than Mortal Kombat, but I've always been wowed by the impressive art and the fast gameplay. I think I suck at fighting games though. Can a noob get into either one of these and have fun?

SFA3 Max is my choice. Get both if you can, though.

GGXX is being released in the US alongside that side scrolling GG game under the name GG Judgement.

SFA3 is a certified piece of shit.

GGXX is not so bad.

What do they have in common? Both are unplayable on the PSP's D-Pad. I am cry since I want portable GGXX.

hmm... based on my experience, the control in GGXX is fine. not perfect, but far from "unplayable..."

That's because-

I'm not trying to be a jerk or anything, but if you know what you're doing in GGXX, it is hard as shit, if not impossible to play as you would in the arcade.

Have to agree with Sl1p here. I've both, I imported GGXX back when you could get it for 20 (either at play asia or liksang, they still might have it for that much) and while it looks great and plays well, I doubt you'd want to be really competitive with it. Luckily I pretty much just play for fun, and I'd highly reccomend both games with GG coming before SFA.

btw, you get that awesome topper if you order SFA from Capcom's site.

SFA3.

GGXX is just too frantic and fast-paced to play on a handheld. Plus playing against the CPU SUCKS since it's such a technical game. Online might help, but I've never found anyone online when I've tried.

Did you not buy the Capcom d-pad or something? My main problem with GGXX is the button layout on the PSP, but I have zero problems with the d-pad using the capcom one.

I managed to import GG for like 18 bucks, but unfortunately have yet to try out SF, so I can't make a fair comparison. But I can say that GG is freakin' sweet!

outside of the obvious pad-versus-stick, issue, I call BULLSHIT. I'm a reasonably experienced GGXX#R player, and I can pull off all of Dizzy's supers and corner traps without trying. (Cancels and RCs are just button presses, so no problem there.) Hell, I play Chipp BETTER on the PSP than I do on the Xbox.

I still REALLY do not get the D-pad complaints. You mofos must have some weird-ass way of using a pad. SFA3 and GGXX#R work perfectly for me -- I'll acknowledge that I had some initial trouble with Darkstalkers, though -- so I dunno what the hell y'all 're doin'.

You need to play more of both games and see what type of game play you prefer. That said, I'd go with SFA3, as it offers more modes and options on the PSP. You've got the World Tour mode, which lets you fight against various CPU battle conditions and create a customized version of a character, all the dramatic battle modes, variable battle, team battle, kumite, etc. Lasts much longer when you want to play single player.

well, let me see if i can find a cheap place to import GGXX. i may also get sfa3. i have $75 amazon credits and dont know what to buy. may just spend the money on sfa3 and megaman X psp.

Hey I like BOTH games OMGWTFBBQ UNPOSSIBLE ETC ETC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111

You can't go wrong with whatever combination of those three games that you choose. :) I'll say it again, though...you get more for your money with SFA3 Max. There's simply more content and a larger character roster available to keep you busy.

Plus if you want to get into Guilty Gear, wait and see what happens with the domestic release, which looks to have added content, or import Guilty Gear XX #Reload Slash when it hits the Japanese PS2 in a few months.

Did you for once think that maybe you can't play the PSP version like the arcade version because the PSP version is NOT the arcade version.

Yeah, it's hard to believe but 4 out of 5 dentists tell me it's true.

If you want a fighting game that plays exactly like the arcade then *GASP* play the arcade version.

Both control very well on the PSPs d-pad.
Not accounting for personal taste between the 2 franchises SFA3 probably would be the better choice because of more play modes and characters.

Definitely wait for Guilty Gear Judgement. Not only is it GGXX#R but it has a new side scrolling game not unlike Dungeons and Dragons, new music and Reload mode.

However, I have not played SFA3 yet, and something tells me that SFA3 may keep your attention longer since it has a lot of modes with a lot of replayability, but you seem to not be as big on SFA3 as GGXX#R

Then maybe developers shouldn't make ports of arcade fighters for portable systems because apparantly you're not supposed to be able to play a port of an arcade like you would in the arcade on a portable system.

Stop being retarded, people.

thx, guys, for the suggestions. i decided to use the ultimate perfect solution... just ordered SFA3 and MMX on amazon; and i will definitely buy GGXX #reload when it's released here in the states.

about the difference between the arcade and psp version, for a fighter noob like me, even if i go to the arcade, i still cannot play it like you hardcore fighter do... so i will just get the psp version, play it in my (shitty) way, and have fun with it. :)
