(PSP) Hatsune Miku -Project DIVA- screens

I saw more videos, and I see that the language barrier isn't excessively huge. Has anyone else gotten this yet? I am about to order a copy for myself, but would like to hear some thoughts from people who have played the game on the matter.

Because the whole goddamn point is you can import your own songs into the game and make custom dances, choreography and note charts.

So? importing songs and making custom dances can not be done in beautiful 2d art?

So what other rhythm game that's not Parappa / Um Jammer Lammy has 2D art (and even that's a stretch)?

The genre sprang into existence around the Playstation era. I'd see whining over this if there were a past precedent for 2D rhythm games; but there is none.

You're actually suggesting they draw individual animation frames in 2D that would have the character covering every possible dance move, plus their transitions into every other possible dance move, instead of just creating motion scripts to a 3D model?

My PSP 3k finally came in and this is 1 of the 2 best music games I have ever played on a handheld (See avatar). Have been playing it for like an hour, and will be sure to come back here to share more impressions, once I dick around with it more. The language barrier isn't as big as I thought thankfully! If you are a Miku fan, you need this game!

Yeah, really great game. Wish the difficulty was a little higher though. For the most part, hard mode has the same tempo/rythm as normal mode, except with 4 buttons instead of the usual two. Once you have mastered normal, hard only offers a slight increase in difficulty.

On the other hand, some of the player-created songs are insanely hard...so there's still plenty of challenge for those who actively seek it.

:lol :lol :lol

That's such an awesome avatar. I love Glee Club, but man, the rest of Rhythm Heaven is a love/hate relationship :(

They used the dance routine from Project Diva's video for Miku Miku ni Shite Ageru for the so-called 'live' concert that had a few Miku songs in it:

Ended up really liking Project Diva. Played it for 60 hours in the gap between when I completed all the Wii Monster hunter G quests and when Monster Hunter 3 got released. Got all the stuff unlocked, and download a few of other peoples' creations for the game.

Famitsu has an article on the upcoming Project Diva 2: http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1232590_1407.html
The sequel is scheduled to be released July 29th, 2010.

Features:

- "note bands" like in Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!
- simultaneous pressing of several notes
- more buttons used this time? From the screens it looks like the directional pad is used now too
- new songs, also duet performance
- lots of new costumes, collaboration with PIAPRO: http://piapro.jp/ (no idea what that is)
- Edit Mode

A sequel already? Well that kind of complicates things a bit. I just recently had someone recommend Project Diva to me (since it's like Elite Beat Agents) and was intending to import it soon, is it actually still worth doing that or should I just wait until July 29th for the sequel?

Project Diva is a good game so you'd hardly do wrong if you get it now.

Some new Project Diva news:

http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/03/10/project_diva_ps3/

March 25 will see the release of a song expansion titled Hatsune Miku Miku Uta Okawari. This ¥2,000 yen pack includes nine songs, a side scrolling action mini game titled "*Hello Planet," PSP custom themes, and more

This first expansion will be followed by a second this spring. Titled Motto Okawari Rin, Len, Luka, the DLC will include at least 12 songs from the three counterpart Vocaloids that appear in its name.

The final announcement from the event was for Hatsune Miku Project Diva Dreamy Theater. Sega describes this not as a PS3 game, but as a download expansion for the first Hatsune Miku Project Diva that lets you play the game on the PS3. According to various reports from sites that were in attendance at the event, a video showed the PS3 controller being used to control an on-screen Hatsune Miku whose quality matched the level of the Project Diva arcade game. A final release period and pricing were not announced.

Great news all round! More Miku is always a good thing :D
